The Silent Firework (9) : Fireworks are aplenty this time of year, and there’s always something going off somewhere in the city. Little pops and noises are common, but something about this firework is completely abnormal–it makes absolutely no sound. Instead, light and color splashes across the night sky and leaves a lingering glow behind. No one knows where it came from, but it lit up the sky like a midnight sun, and was gone after about a moment. Anyone who managed to see it in person may find that when they blink, there is a residual glow before them. Strangely, it even seems like there’s a trail of faded, glowing light guiding them somewhere. Maybe you’re led to some special place, or some special person, or–maybe the trail ends before you ever find out where you were supposed to go.

Willie had come out to patrol, but the fireworks that lit up the sky stopped him before he got the chance. He'd never seen fireworks that didn't make noise and fireworks were never lit near the farmlands because of the animals. This however would be a great way to do fireworks in the rural areas. He honestly thought Eliza would love them. She make up some fantastical story to go along with the display and Willie would listen shaking his head in amusement.

They were over far too quickly, but they seem to leave behind a trail. Willie wondered if that was apart of the show and decided to follow the path. He was always down for an adventure especially if it didnt involve him nearly dying in the process. Being a senshi could suck at times.

He was never good at suppressing curiosity. When the opportunity to follow a silent firework of course Elijah was going to. He wasn't at work because it was late in the evening for him, so he'd locked up pretty early.

The man was walking after the trail from what he could see, seafoam eyes bright and full of mirth as he slinked his way through the people on the sidewalks. Where on earth had it come from? He kept blinking, kept seeing the trails, kept moving. Was anyone else doing this? He couldn't have been the only one seeing it, could he?

"Where are you taking me?" he asked through a laugh, stopping to blink a few times.

Willie was walking when he heard someone speak turning to see another with a very neat color hair seemingly following just as he was. They weren't terribly close to one another, but certain close enough for Willie to barely catch his words.

"Hey," he called out the other, "do you see the trail of light too? Do you think its like a game or maybe we were just staring at the fireworks for too long?"

Willie grinned and gave a wave honestly knowing he risked sounding crazy admitting to following trails of light, but there were certainly weirder thing in Destiny City. Willie mentally shrugged the thoughts off and approached the other guy. He tried to keep an open and friendly being as tall and bulky as he was, he didnt honestly want to be intimidating, outside of the night life which was hard to do in his damn getup.

His attention split when someone called out to him, and he spotted the other pretty easily. Elijah hit him with a very happy, wide smile and he waved back before moving over to the other as well, meeting him about halfway.

"I don't know, honestly," he said, blinking a couple of times before the lights came back. "I don't think staring at the fireworks would be like this. I've stared at lights before, so this isn't the usual." Elijah took a couple of steps after the light before jerking his head. They should probably start following them again. Who knows where it would lead them, honestly.

"I'm Elijah. Figured if we're both off we should at least know each other's names."

Willie nodded, "yeah I definitely have stared at a light to long on multiple occasions and spots is the usual," he said with a laugh. It was interesting though this little after effect, the tiny adventure.

Willie followed, ever eager for a little bit of fun giving a chuckle with Elijah introduced himself. "I'm William, but most people call me Willie, either is fine with me." He liked his came shortened or not.

He grinned following the path a little less apprehensive with someone else coming along, "where do you think this path goes. Its got to be on purpose, right?"

He also seemed a little hesitant. The florist put a hand through his hair again and he hummed and nodded.

"All paths lead somewhere, even if you can't see the end of it. So, new-found friend Willie, we should definitely go and explore this." With that, he stepped foot on that path and started walking down, glancing around.

"I hope we don't find ghosts..." Of course Elijah believed in ghosts. There were too many strange happenstances to not believe in the supernatural. "Unless they're friendly. That'll be alright. But I haven't heard many good thing about meeting a spirit."

Willie started laughing when Elijah mentioned ghost. "I have the opposite desire," he said between chuckled. "I would love to find a ghost. I absolutely love ghost hunting. Of course, I have never found one, but it's the spirit and thrill of the hunt that is the most fun."

Even after becoming a senshi Willie would 100% go on an organized ghost hunt. "Friendly spirits are definitely preferred, but like where is the fun in that. I have found a proper ghost hunt in the city, but out in the farmlands we have a couple a year."

He paid the lights little mind while he followed now, more interested in the conversation, even if his curiosity about where the lights were taking them was still just below the surface.

Elijah stared for a moment when the other said he wanted to find a ghost. Absolutely not. Insane. Nope. There were a million things he would rather be doing than finding ghosts. He licked his lips nervously before glancing back at Willie and then to the path.

"See, the thing is, I would love a friendly ghost, but we just don't know? So I would just rather not find any ghosts. Sorry, ghosts, but I'm easily spooked and get nightmares over B rated horror movies." He was not ashamed of this. Elijah was never going to have a ton of courage when it came to supernatural things, and that was fine. Most of them weren't real. He didn't need to be brave against things that weren't real.

Or so he told himself.

"Though, I suppose I would rather find ghosts than zombies. At least ghosts that are just ghosts can't hurt you. Unless they're..." He trailed off, trying to think of the word he was thinking of for a malicious ranking of ghost. "Poltergeist? I guess? The ones that can throw things at you, hurt you, eventually possess you? Though out of those and zombies, I'm just going to be one of the ones getting picked off early. I'd rather not have to live through anything where both are really there."

Maybe he was rambling, but now his thoughts were getting flooded with spooky things.

Willie was trying his best not to laugh because he would rather face a ghost then some crazy negaverser with a youma buddy trying to unalive him. "Sorry Ive always liked scary things and Halloween and the real fairy tails. My best friend has a bit of an obsession with fairy tales, some a gruesome. Ghost, eh, no big deal."

Willie couldn't hold back the laughter when Elijah said he'd be one of the ones picked off early. "Oh, don't say that ... zombies are easy, so long as they aren't like the I am legend or world war z version. I do not think even I would survive that ... no zombie survival guide is going to prepare you for smart zombies or ones with pretty much super speed."

"But hey now that we've met if there is ever a zombie apocalypse I promise to help you out."

Willie shook his head amused at the turn the conversation had taken, "Anyway let's change the subject, I don't want to drive the conversation with something you don't really care for."

"Are you from Destiny City or are you new to the city?"

"Oh, uhm, I'm fairly new. Trying to establish myself as a small florist," he explained, thinking about his words for a moment. "I grew up not far from here. My mother gardened and let me 'play' with my own little seeds, beans, you know, the easiest thing to grow." A pause for a chuckle and to keep moving, looking around at the colored lights.

"Anyway, that sparked my interest in cultivating and growing! So..." He bit his lip and flushed a little before shrugging. "So this is a big city for me! It's exciting."

Exciting, nerve-wracking, had him on high alert. Everything was new to him. There were buildings of dizzying heights, weird happenings on the news, and beautiful art. It was amazing.

"I have a small apartment in the south side of Destiny City. Aaah, not near this park at all, but I wanted to see what it was about."

Willie looked a little surprised and grinned, "oh that's awesome. So, you grew up closer to the rurals then. I grew up in the rurals ... my family own the Adams farm. I moved to the city to finish high school and go to college, though I've graduated now and I'm back in the rurals with my family."

"The city is pretty exciting ... I'm remember everything was so new and different, not mention I'd been homeschooled my whole life before then" Willie chuckled remembering himself, "sorry I'm rambling."

He'd paused in his rambling, and when he went to move again, he realized the path appeared to be gone. He blinked a couple times and then looked to Elijah, "don't know what I was supposed to find, but I lost the trail. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten distracted. Darn ... can you still see it?"
