The Lantern Festival (10) : Scientists have been hard at work trying to understand the strange, glowing qualities of the luminescent caterpillars found in the caves by the reservoir. The caterpillars still shrivel up if they are taken out of the caves but their glowing secretions have been processed into an organic paste that can withstand the outside world. The city is selling paper lanterns infused with various seeds. The glow paste is full of minerals to support healthy plant growth without risking damage to the environment; all lantern purchases come with a small packet of activating power that will heat the paste up enough to mimic the effects of a candle without the concerns of flammability. When the glow paste loses its heat, the lantern will return to the Earth and upon the first rain (or any contact with water) the paper will dissolve and the seeds may begin to grow. All proceeds from the lanterns are put right back into the community to support local conservation and environmental protection efforts.

Sebi was out just being a normal girl for a while, she was done with the negaverse for the moment. She did her job and she had her negaverse family, but feeling like she belonged was tricky. She just couldn't make the pieces fit and it made her a little grumpy. She was the senshi of the corrupted harvest. Considering how she had grown up made her sad in a way. The harvest was supposed to be a happy time with baskets full of fruits and vegtiables. It wasn't supposed to be a dark time of death and destruction. She shook her head it didn't matter she was a solider of the negaverse and there was no changing that. She must have been like this from the start how else would she have become a corrupted senshi? She couldn't remember a time when she had been with the white moon. So she must not have been. She turned the thoughts away and went to get a lantern made totally from natural things. She frowned wondering how it would fly. It was going to fly right? Oh, heated paste well that was weird she wondered if that really worked or if these were magic.

Leah went and got her lantern, armed with a pen to write on the lantern. Her brothers were with her, but they decided to split up for a little bit wanting time to write their messages and well wishes for the future in private. Leah was glad for the seeds because she was starting to see the death she'd seen on her homeworld in Destiny City and it was a bit worrisome. They could certainly use a boost to fix that. She sat in the grass lantern in her lap penning words in sharpie across her lantern. 'Hope for a better tomorrow lay in these seeds.'

Sebi looked over to the one who had spoken and she felt for what they said, she needed a better tomorrow, she had been trying so hard to be evil since she was working for the negaverse and she just couldn't do it. It made her so angry. She didn't even know why she was angry and that had frustrated her to no end. She sighed. "Yea I could do with some of that goodwill too." She said softly mostly to herself. She released her own lantern with the wish that she have better days tomorrow. She couldn't just let working for the negaverse ruin her life. She figured there wasn't a way out but maybe there was. If there was she would find it. She knew about the white moon members. She had to wonder if one of them could help her somehow. She had been welcomed into the negaverse at least by one group but still since she wasn't a nega solider and could never be a captain or anything like that. She would always be looked down on and a part of her just couldn't stand that. It might have been different if they actually trusted the corrupt senshi but that certainly wasn't the case as far as she could tell.

Leah hadn't realized anyone was around and looked up hearing the other speak. She looked to see a girl releasing her lantern and smiled offering a greeting. "Hello, don't worry if you could use some goodwill, I'm sure you'll find it even in this crazy city." She put the cap back on her sharpie, then used the little heat packet they had for the lantern before lifting it up and letting it go. "I love lantern festivals. They always look so fun in movies and people use them for so many different things. One movie the lanterns were for their ancestors, sometimes they are for wish ... that's what I'm using mine for. Hopefully the universe hears me." She gave another kind smile, "Im Ashleigh, but everyone calls me Leah. It nice to meet you."

Sebi laughed it felt good to laugh she hadn't done it in a long time. "I hope you are right, I've had a lot of stress lately you know. This city is nuts." She snorted. She nodded "Yea I had some family members that liked Repunzillia and I've seen it in movies too, it really does look pretty in the movies, but I guess more so here." She said looking as the sky filled with lanterns. I'm Seble, but call me Sebi." She said nodding to the other girl.

"It's nice to meet you Sebi," she said standing and looking at the sky watching lantern after lantern go up. "My brothers are here too; I wonder which lanterns are theirs. We all split up to write little messages on our lanterns." She looked to Sebi, "did you write anything on yours before you let it go. Maybe someone will see them before the rain washes them away and plants grow." "I hope you get a break and an ease from the stress soon ... I know this city is a mess sometimes ... like even going to stuff like this can be challenging. I haven't been to a carnival since I was nine because this city is nuts. Still, you gotta just go with the flow until you can move and hope it's just a Destiny City thing." Of course, Leah didn't think she would be moving, no matter how much she disliked this city, she felt more and more obligated to do her part.

Sebi shook her head and said "Nope, the wish is mine and I'm going to make it happen." She said firmly. All she had to do was let go of her negative thoughts. Which was funny since she was working for the negaverse. She nodded "Yea it is at time, but it had good points too." She smiled and said "That makes a lot of sense." Sebi wouldn't be leaving the city either, she was hooked to this weird joint. "It was nice meeting you."

Leah nodded and gave the other girl a smirk, "That sounds like a plan. I really wish you the best of luck making it happen. If we cross paths again I hope you can be like hey Leah, I made my wish come true." She hoped her little chat had helped at least lift the other's spirits, before she heard her name being called which meant one of her brothers was probably looking for her. She heard him cuss a moment later and she laughed. "It looks like the calvery is coming. It was nice meeting you, but Im sure my brothers will be dragging me off shortly. Our parents promised snowballs, from that stand that stays open late during the festival. You should hit it up if you like snowballs, they even have marshmallow topping." Her brother called again and she sighed calling back, "Im over here CJ calm down."

Sebi laughed and headed off herself, she had patroling to do and negaverse work to do. She had a job to keep track of. She had a path to take and a goal in mind. (Fin)
