Rules to Follow Everywhere 1- Though this should go without saying, obey the TOS, or you may expect swift and painful banning. 2- Be nice, take any 1-on-1 arguments to PMs, and any arguments bigger than that to their own topics not in the guild, or to IMs. 3- Make an effort to spell correctly and use proper punctuation. You don't have to be perfect (I'm not!), but imagine what a single space and a comma can do the the phrase "The pen is mightier than the sword." Or perhaps what a few wrong-case letters and commas will do to "I helped my uncle, Jack, off a horse." But also keep in mind that "There are some rules of grammar up with which you should not put." 4- Cursing is not encouraged. While it is understandable, and something that can be used to make RP more realistic, do not use it for every other word.

Rules for RPing: 1- Avoid the use of asterisks like the plague. Asterisks are those little star things that people like to put around their actions. It would take just as little effort to put quotation marks around what they say rather than stars around what they do, and things look better when done like a standard story. 2- Try to perpetuate roleplays. If at all possible, do not let interaction result in death of a character, unless all players involved agree on the matter. 3- Be nice- If someone honestly misunderstood or misread a post, let them go back and change it accordingly. Neither killing a character off nor unfairly landing a hit due to a technicality are the goals here. 4- Powerplaying is bad. If your character is like a Swiss-army lightsaber with complete with the optional end-the-world button, don't expect for your character application to be accepted. 5- In RPs, OOC should always be accompanied with a relevant, IC portion. If more than one OOC post is needed to clarify something, then use PMs straightoff. 6- Though this should go without saying, IC and OOC are to be seperate. An insult to your character is not one to you. On the other side of the spectrum, if your characters are in love, you are not, at least not necessarily.

How Locations Work The RPs in this guild are divided into seperate Worlds (subforums), subdivided into locations (topics). A 'World' can range in size from a city to a galaxy, with some unique theme or plot tying it together. Locations specific places in that World, a city or landmark in which people in the same topic can interact with each other, within reason.
Each World is unique, and unrelated with the other worlds (travel between subforums is impossible), while locations in the same world can be traveled between freely (within In Character limitations). Characters in a certain world only affect locations in that world.
Think of each seperate world as its own book, unrelated to the rest. The places and characters in each book won't affect or interact with each other. How To Make a New Location Simple enough. Pitch an idea to the guy in charge of the Subforum RP (again, Misc. RP goes by its own rules), with the following: Which world it will go in, Name, Geographical Location, History, Layout. If it is the home of an organization, talk about that too. Once accepted, post it in the appropriate RP subforum.
Note: The entire thing doesn't have to be separated by section- in fact, integration of all categories into one fluid post is encouraged. But if you think it'll be more presentable if you seperate things, then go ahead with my blessing.

Making a Character for a World: NOTE: This goes for all except Misc. Roleplay. Applications are not meant to be very in depth (you can go into detail, if you want), but are there so we can make sure the character fits in (don't bring a cowboy to a Sci-fi RP).
You may have as many characters as you desire/can get accepted.
The requirements for an application differ from one RP to the next, but there are a few constants between them. While it's pretty easy to get into the guild itself (1. don't be a totally illiterate p***k, and 2. Ask), you can't RP in a world with a character that hasn't been accepted (with the exception of minor characters/'NPC's):
1. PM your application (which is different for each RP) to one of the people in charge of the RP you wish to join (varies from RP to RP as well). 2. You will keep your accepted characters in your own topic in the applications board, each on their own post with the first line containing the name of the RP the character is for. 3. Unless leaving the RP, you must leave the profile there. 4. If you wish to leave, contact a crew member, listing your characters, and which RP each character is in.
Tips: If you are not accepted, fret not. The crew member should tell you where you went wrong. Work on that without making a scene, and you should be fine. If you adhere to basic grammar and tolerable spelling, the most likely reason you will receive for non-acceptance is "Incompatible with the RP". This simply means that your character is not something that would fit in with the RP. I.E. You submitted a guy with a full-automatic laser gattling gun into a medieval RP, or you submitted a person who's form of magic is not possible given the nuances of the magic in the RP.

The Guild Mule Hello, I am the Guild Mule for Refuge. There are several purposes for my existence, and you will receive a friends list request from me upon joining, or retroactively, depending on when you joined in comparion to my creation.
PM Notices: Because it is the simplest means of doing so, any notices sent guild wide will simply be sent to my friendlist, and as a result, to the entirety of the guild. This is mroe effective for those people who do not check the guild regularly, or do not notice new annoucements in the guild.
Donations: When someone donates directly into the guild account, then it is only useful for buying guild additions, such as subforums (which are currently the only guild additions available), and are thus useless for things such as contests should the need arise. Thus, any donations will go to my own account, which is monitored in terms of spending. Any clothes you see on this avatar will not come from member donations, but the gold that is made by this mule as it patrols the site, makes posts, edits, etc.
Anonymity: This mule is also used for anonymity, so that any possible grudges towards a crew member will be left without a target, should the crew member decide to employ me as the means of dealing judgement.
