The first chance she'd gotten she'd taken off running from her new 'home.' Elaxi knew that the Yaeli couple that took her in wasn't her parents. She tried to insist that she'd been stolen from her family but they just seemed to look at her with pity and told her that they were sorry that her mother had been killed but that the adoption was real.
Now Elaxi was shivering with fear as she moved her little feet as fast as she could. It had been some months since she got to.. wherever she was. As a child she didn't know much about geography but she thought if she just went far enough then surely she could find her way home! She didn't know that she was headed right into Elaria territory.
She huffed as she ran, not at all pacing herself or worrying about how to breathe while moving. Every so many steps she was stumbling and not being quiet in the least. Clearly she lacked any skills that were needed to survive in the wilderness.

Pruu looked up from her gathering, antennae practically twitching with curiosity. It sounded like a limbara was charging her way! Who on the isle ran with such disregard for stealth? She plucked up the basket that she was using to collect wild mushrooms and slipped into the shadows for cover. Someone was running as fast as they could, and the steps were of the heft that she assumed it must have been some Yaeli. Probably saw their own shadow and panicked... Her footing around earthlings was still touchy, so it was best to avoid interacting with them. The closer the steps got though.. it sounded even smaller than a Yaeli. She crouched forward to get a look, eyes widening when she caught a peek of a dark form stumbling by her. It was the size of a youngling, probably only recently learned to walk! Where were her mothers? With a deep frown, she straightened up and stepped out with her mother instincts briefly taking over. "Child!" she called firmly. Wait.. the skin wasn't as grey as she had thought, and that hair certainly wasn't red...

She wasn't at all attuned to her surroundings so when someone stepped out from seemingly nowhere and called out to her she shrieked and stumbled to the side. Elaxi wasn't able to gain her footing very well and she fell onto her bottom before she was able to save herself. Sucking in breaths she panicked and looked up at the lady who had startled her. Tears were instantly there, welling up and spilling over in quick succession. The small hybrid started to cry as she drew her knees to her chest and tried to look even smaller than she was. "Mama!" She cried pathetically. She was lost in the woods in a place she didn't recognize and all she wanted was her mother.

By Elzira, it was an earthling child! They were naturally smaller than Aishan younglings, so Pruu couldn't quite tell their age. How was someone so small walking around on their own? Surely the parents weren't too far off.. but she couldn't hear anything beyond them. Pruu rolled her eyes at the sobbing child, eager to continue on her away. Yet.. that teeny body wracked with fear... It made her mother instincts tingle, and she reluctantly turned her attention once more to the kid. "I do not know where your mother is. You should go back the way you came." Was the kid even old enough to understand?

"My m-mama is dead..." Elaxi cried out. She'd seen her get stabbed and the offender had told her later that her mother died. When she was told to go back the way she came the little girl panicked again. She scrambled to get up to her feet but failed since her small limbs didn't want to work right. So instead it led to her crawling quickly across the ground and getting dirty as she went to latch onto the woman's leg. "W-wait! I.. I don't know how to get h-home! The people that have me now aren't my parents!" At this point she had tears everywhere and snot bubbling out her nose. She shook her head almost frantically. "I w-want to go h-home. My real h-home!" Elaxi couldn't keep the trembling away as she did what she could to keep hold onto the woman. Since she wasn't from Yael she didn't know that she had to be wary of the Elaria.

Her expression remained deadpan, but her stomach flinched. The mother was dead..? She looked the direction the child had come from, eyes narrowing slightly. It must have just happened then, right? Had someone unwittingly crossed the Elarians? Well, it was no concern of hers, really. She heard the child moving, but wasn't too concerned at first. Even an earthling child couldn't pretend such deep fear for the sake of trapping an Elarian, and she could kill it with a flick of her wrist if she needed to. Torn between listening to the desperate pleas and watching the pathetic stumbling effort, she was shocked to suddenly find the youngling clinging to her leg. "Hey!" She wrinkled her nose and raised her leg to give it a little shake. The youngling wasn't budging. Time for logic! "So, your mother died and now someone else is watching over you. That is usually how it goes. Otherwise, you would be living alone. Know that there is no one out here who would care for you, so you might as well go back."

With the leg shake she moved her arms into a better grip and closed her eyes. "N-No. They took me from my home!" Everyone seemed to agree that she'd just been adopted but Elaxi always insisted that wasn't true. She just didn't know how to explain it so that adults understood. "Please. Please. I w-want my daddy. And my sister." The little girl lifted her face so that she could look at the woman she was clinging to. The tears never stopped. Given that Elaxi was a crybaby she had plenty to spare.

Took? Pruu felt herself pause and look down at the youngling curiously. It still made sense that the child would feel like it'd been stolen away, but they way it was being sobbed out... "Daddy?" It took a moment, but soon enough Pruu's eyes were widening with surprise. Daddy was the father of earthlings, wasn't it? The male counterpart of a mother. "You're saying you still have a father out there?" It was only an earthling... but her belly felt a pinch of ache. Was this thing saying it had been kidnapped from their family?! "Where is your father then?"

At the mention of her dad still being out there she nodded her head vigorously. Elaxi knew her dad hadn't been there that day when she'd been taken away. "A-And a sister. She didn't go that day.." Sniffles followed her words as she tried her best to explain. When the question was raised about where her dad was she frowned. "H-Home? Our family lives by the beach." Elaxi wasn't used to being inland so much and it was disorienting to not be able to see the ocean. Of course she'd done enough walking and running that she thought she should have found the beach by now. "No one here looks like at home. N-No one at home had g-glowy eyes." Or this woman's Grey skin bit she wasn't going to say anything since she was at least listening.

The child had actually been taken from their family? Someone had killed the mother and run off with the child... Pruu could be brutal, but even she would never think to take a youngling of any kind from their home! "By the beach.." She gave her leg another experimental shake, sighed, and held out her hand. "I can't take you to the beaches if you're stuck to me like that." Though her hand remained down and open, the rest of her body stiffened. No Yaeli at home? Elzira save me.. "Did you take a ride on a boat? Cross an ocean?" she asked hesitantly.

The next shake made her retirement her arms and close her eyes as she whimpered. She might not know this stranger but so far they were listening more than the couple that had taken her in. Elaxi didn't want to let go. Then the lady said she couldn't take her to the beach if she was clung to her. The little girl opened her eyes and looked at the hand that was held out then up at the woman's face. Hope filled her eyes then. If she could get to the beach then maybe she could find her family. Then there was a question about a boat and the ocean. "I... I don't know. They gave me a drink that made me sleepy. E-Every time I woke up they gave me more. B-But it felt like a boat." Elaxi could remember the rocking.

By Elzira's grace!! The child was stolen from the big island?! "We should get you to the docks then," she decided. "There will be many boats that will be able to take you back home." Since it was unlikely that the child was carrying money, she would have to go home first to pick up something to trade with the earthlings for supplies... Giving up her own things to help an earthling child... It really was a crazy world. "What is the name of the place you live, so we know which boat to put you on to?"

To the docks? were they close and Elaxi just missed it or went the wrong way? She sniffles again and reached up to take the woman's hand, not wanting to lose her. She was slowly getting her crying and tears under control. So with a hiccup she rubbed at her eyes as she stared at Pruu. "U-Uhm.. Matri.. M-Maori.." Her nose scrunched up as she tried to remember how to say the name of the territory she lived in.
She started to tremble a little as she couldn't quite remember how to say it. "I-It starts with a M."

Pruu's expression flattened a little. "You don't know what it's called?" She closed her eyes and tried to think. She wasn't very well versed in the lands that make up the big island, but she felt she could figure out most of them. She'd heard the name before since it was a common port for ships around there. "Matori? Does that sound right?" If that was the case, it would be a fairly easy trip for the child to take. Looking at the little hand clinging to her own, she pursed her lips and gave a surprisingly gentle tug. "Come along. We will have to stop at my home first to pick up a few items for your trip." She couldn't be seen walking around with an earthling though! Her mind spun with ideas on how to mask the child. A simple hood wouldn't cover everything. Maybe she could swipe a good, big cloak before anyone saw? Or maybe go the old fashioned route and just roll it in the mud? "Have you had a mud bath before?" she asked idly. A cloak would normally be better, but this was not a normal situation!

She really needed to pay attention to things. When the woman said the right name of her homeland she lit up. A quick nod was the answer. The tug to her hand was enough to let her know that she needed to follow. Elaxi stayed close to the woman to make sure she didn't get separated. At the question of a mud bath she blinked. "N-No.." She sniffles a bit but looked at the woman with a curious look. "Isn't that just being dirty?" The little one questioned.
