Disappearances (14) : People are missing. Maybe they’re people you know, maybe you’ve just heard about it on the news. They’re just disappearing. In front of you one second, gone the next, sucked into some between-space. Into some hole that flickers out of sight once it’s swallowed them up. Maybe you got sucked in–right into a strange strange black expanse, with no access to anyone else or any exits. The pull would have been magnetic, almost unavoidable. Some might escape, but maybe you didn’t. Electronics don't work and characters cannot power down. There’s no way to reach the outside world. You might feel the sensation of creatures following you, you might run into obstacles or strange environments in the darkness. While you are in this strange location you may feel hungry but will not starve to death; you may feel tired but you will not need to sleep. Maybe you were lucky and got sucked in with someone. Maybe you’re trapped there and run into someone and team up. One thing is for sure, though–once you’re here, you can’t get out on your own. Characters who get sucked into the strange between-space will not be able to participate in the ORP immediately but will have an opportunity to join partway through so if this is something you’re interested in, please keep your eye on that! If you have questions on if something is permissible, you can PM The Space Cauldron to ask!)

Polyhymnia had never liked the dark, growing up. Even as the older sister, there was something about the dark that truly terrified her, panic welling up in her chest whenever she didn’t have some sort of light shining nearby. Even being out at night could terrify her, could render her next to useless if she had had a particularly bad day.

Being swallowed up by it and then surrounded by it? Her worst possible nightmare come to life. She could hear things, she could tell it wasn’t hot, she was tired, she was afraid, and she was alone. Even crying out for help seemed useless, never seeing anyone close by, not that she could tell was actually a person, anyway. Strange forms and figures and sounds and–

Well. She would simply have to adapt, even if she didn’t want to, arms holding herself around her waist, faint whimpering in the back of her throat. She walked, and walked, and walked, taking her senshi phone out long enough to confirm that she had no signal before putting it back. It wouldn’t help her, only hinder in this oppressive atmosphere, making it hard to see – or well, harder, eyes adjusting to the light before having to adjust to the darkness once more.

It was cold. It was so very cold, or it felt like it to her, breathing shaky and body trembling after some time until she finally just sat down. Moving wasn’t helping, she couldn’t find anyone else, there wasn’t anything to find, and all she wanted to do was curl up into a ball, doing her best to keep from crying, but before long there were tears streaming down her face before hiding in her arms, wrapped around her legs and just, cried.

How was she supposed to help anyone if she couldn’t help herself? She couldn’t even keep calm and the first sign of something horrible, she broke down, sobbing and trembling and just looking utterly pathetic.

Was this it? Was this the end for her? Left in darkness, all alone and crying until she had nothing left to cry, and no one to talk to, no way to let her friends know where she was, her family, anyone. Would they even know she was gone?

And Thalia, poor Thalia, having to see as she’d been ripped away, she barely knew the other senshi but…honestly, she wouldn’t have wished that on anyone, let alone someone who was clearly excited and ready to do whatever it took to help the world, to make the world a better place.

She really and truly hoped the other senshi was at least safe. Warm. Able to grow and flourish and do all the things that she’d wanted to do, rather than being sealed away like this. Because really, Polyhymnia was sealed away somewhere, she couldn’t leave, couldn’t find anything or anyone and she was just…

She didn’t want to die, but surely it would happen if she remained here too long. Food, water, warmth, sleep…all the things she was lacking right then.

She hoped there would be some sort of help soon. Otherwise…
