The city wide festival had begun, and while everyone was trying to enjoy it despite the intense heat wave hitting the city, weird things were happening...
It had started with a strange feeling, a weird crackle of energy on his skin, and a feeling of air rushing about him. He'd heard a weird noise, and then it had all vanished. He'd thought he'd nodded off, or blanked out or... something from the heat, the first time. Then it had happened again, in a different place, and he hadn't been alone. Others had seen it, or... felt it, but it had happened so quickly no one had known what to say. Everyone had stayed carefully quiet, as though afraid saying something would bring it back, or worse...
But they'd gotten more frequent, and Trey was finding more and more things missing as he'd gone about his day. While mostly an inconvenience, the fact it kept happening was... concerning. Wandering the city at night as Fafnir, he'd kept a careful eye out, trying to catch one of these strange... things before it hit him again. Standing between two buildings, he'd felt it before he'd seen it, and then a fissure had opened up beside him, air whipping around it as it sucked it in. Trash picked up off the ground and flew towards the tear in reality, disappearing inside before it all just... winked out and was gone. Fafnir stared at the spot, frowning to himself and very much ill at ease.

Actaea had barely been out and had already had a lot of strange things happen to her this summer, attacked by faeries was not something she had been expecting not one little bit. She shook her head and walked off. She had also been having trouble finding her stuff at the house she was living at with her negaverse group. She couldn't find her toothbrush this morning or her yogurt. The food could have been eaten by one of the others, but she didn't have an answer for the toothbrush that made no sense at all. She had noticed phonebooths going missing as well but hey the city was updating so whatever. Still, she had a weird feeling currently. She found someone looking at a spot and looking none too happy about it. She moved to walk by since she had no interest in talking to them or anyone else for that matter. It didn't occur to her that they were both powered up and would notice what she was as she moved to pass them by without thinking. She hummed to herself and decided to try to play it off as no big deal and nothing to see here.

He heard the sound of feet approaching and Fafnir turned, only belatedly catching the feel of another corrupt senshi nearby. He'd been so distracted, he chided himself, an Order enemy probably could have attacked him before he'd even known they were there. The young woman he saw was definitely a corrupt from the long hair and the cracks in her flesh that he shared. Her outfit was as fanciful as his, but where he was cool colors, she was warm ones, calling up imagery of Fall with her pumpkin skirt and witch's hat. Interesting... he wondered what her sphere was. He might have asked her about it, but she seemed very intent on leaving the vicinity, humming as she went. Fafnir frowned, but maybe she hadn't seen him? Or... maybe she just didn't want to talk to him. Fair. He didn't usually go out of his way to seek out others of his kind on patrol either.
She was only a distraction though. There was far more to worry about, including how he'd almost just been sucked up by one of those fissures. If that thing had opened a few feet to the side... It made him shudder to think about it. If this was going to keep happening, keep getting worse, he had a lot more to worry about.

She noticed he noticed her casually, she let out a sigh of breath and stopped she looked around and watched things around them for a moment, then she took a closer look at him and saw that he was just like her. She sighed again and went over to him. She wasn't really sure what to say she had a lot of questions but she wasn't sure where to begin. "Umm, do you mind if I ask you some questions? I'm Actaea." She was so new to the corrupt world this was the first other corrupt she had actually talked to. She wanted to know how he felt about being a corrupt, she had heard there was a way out was that the better choice? Should they stand with the negaverse even though they would always be the lowest rank. They would never be respected. If they were staying corrupt should they keep serving the negaverse at all did they have a choice? She felt the chaos in her heart and knew deep down none of them had a choice, they were stuck if they stayed in the negaverse for too long. She didn't think even a royal could save them then if that was the case.

Hearing the sighs, and then sound of feet getting closer, Fafnir turned with a lifted eyebrow. The young woman had decided, apparently, she did want to talk to him. Eyeing her up and down, he shrugged loosely.
"I'm Fafnir. Feel free to ask your questions." He said as he crossed his arms loosely over his chest.
He did not feel like he was necessarily the best one to give answers, but if she'd really needed serious ones, she could have asked her commanding officer. It made him curious what she thought he could answer for her.

Actaea nodded "Do you ever feel like we don't belong with the negaverse?" she asked softly she knew it was a question she shouldn't ask and she looked around since she didn't want to be caught saying it but she wanted to know what other corrupts felt. "What is the reason there are corrupt senshi in the negaverse at all? They don't trust us and they look down on us as traitors to be so why do they use us anyway? What is the point, why do you stay in the ranks?" She asked softly. She needed a reason to fight for this faction or a reason to find a new faction, she needed a reason.

The corrupt shot a look at the girl as she began to... unload herself with very, very dangerous questions. He couldn't help staring at her, and then darting a look around to see if there had been anyone else to hear her.
Apparently, she was aware of what she was doing, since she looked around as well. But then... why?
"You shouldn't be asking questions like that." He said, his voice a hiss as his heart beat fast in his chest. "Those are treasonous questions and you could get into a lot of trouble for them. And possibly me too, which I don't appreciate from anyone, let alone someone I don't know."
"Who the hell gave you this idea that they don't trust us and see us as traitors? I'd like to know their name, because they should be reported. We are valuable parts of the ranks, or at least those who work hard are. The Negaverse is powerful, and I for one would rather be here than on the other side."
Fafnir backed away from the girl, a frown creasing his forehead and sweat dampening the back of his neck. He was going to need to tell someone about this girl. Actaea? Probably report this to Axinite, who had a reputation for taking care of the lower ranks.

Actaea turned and left, clearly, she had asked the wrong person on her doubts and fears. So perhaps she needed to purify for her own safety before she got in a great deal of trouble. (Fin)
