The Fireflies (6) : In the warm summer nights, little glowing lights begin to bob and dart through the city. Fireflies are mating, so this isn't uncommon in itself; in the past few days you've probably seen hundreds of fireflies. What makes these lights so unique is that they seem to change color; you might see a blue one, a green one, a red one. They flicker randomly, and something just seems off with them. If you come into contact with one, you will find yourself with a strange electric jolt. They cannot be caught, and will flicker away if you pursue too aggressively. This isn’t the first time they’ve appeared in Destiny City, but no one’s been able to tell where they came from or where they’re going. No matter how quickly you chase them, they always seem to disappear before you can find any answers.
Truly, the rainbow fireflies were...something special. This was the second time Marialite had encountered them, and her enthusiasm had not dimmed. A small smile tugged at the corners of her mouth as she held out her fingers, and they brushed against a blue one--and she felt a jolt, and yelped, jerking her hand back.
So they had a little bite! That made her laugh, delightedly. More than just pretty lights, it seemed--a little bit dangerous, and she liked dangerous things.
Kind of liked being a dangerous thing, truth be told.

Gismondine was enjoying the fireflies. They made him feel strangely safe and rather happy. They were beautiful, unique and they had grabbed the Captain’s attention easily.
There was another Captain nearby, and he heard a laugh that sounded quite pleased, and with a hesitant smile, Gismondine made his way over.
Of course with the laugh, he had hoped it was Sylvite, brought back again but…he wasn’t too terribly surprised when it wasn’t. The other Captain was pretty though. With long hair done up in braids, and a very unique, pretty outfit.
“Um…Hi! I’m Captain Gismondine. Are…are you out viewing the fireflies too? They’re…they’re all very pretty, don’t you think?” Perhaps it was a dumb question but…it was friendly and there wasn’t anything wrong with it.
Besides. It was always good to get to know fellow agents.
Marialite turned, and smiled broadly at the Captain, giving him a little wave. It was good to run into someone else, and she was already happy to meet him.
"I'm Captain Marialite," she introduced herself. "It's good to meet you, too, Gismondine. Yeah, I was out watching the fireflies. Oh, but! Be careful! They sting if you touch them. Just a little...bzzap." She made a wiggly gesture with her fingers, as an effort to demonstrate the electric jolt she'd felt.
"I love things like this. I used to be a Cosmos Knight, so. Guess I'm still drawn to pretty, rainbow things."

“Oh.” Gismondine blinked and nodded slowly, tilting his head to the side for a moment and letting his eyes focus on one of the fireflies. “Why do you think they sting? Is it from the colors? Like how some poison frogs are brightly colored or…are they some kind of an alien bug…”
He hesitated and felt rather shy and sighed. “A Cosmos Knight? And now you’re one of us? So…you’re like…a reverse Sylvite…? She was one of my Generals…but now she’s a Moon Knight…if…ah. If you meet a pink haired, pink outfitted Knight named Nectaris…”
Swallowing, Gismo shrugged, looking away. “...She’s a traitor. So. Try to bring her back if you could.”
"I wish I knew," she sighed. "They're curious little creatures, aren't they?" She considere, briefly. Alien bugs was possible, she supposed. Or some other form of minor amgic. They definitely weren't youma, so....
Who knew, really.
She listened to the story of his General with a small frown. She would remember that name, and that description.
"I'll remember that," she said. "The name, and the face. But yeah, I went the other way. I used to be Eleusis of Cosmos, and it was...bad, like. Really awful. I had a terrible weapon, and it sucked, and I tried really hard to fight and be stronger, but I just....couldn't. I watched people get hurt around me, and I realized...the only answer...." She swallowed.
"I had to join the Negaverse. It was the only option I had."

“I’m glad that you made the right choice…um. I didn’t have much of a choice and. To be honest…the uh. The General that brought me in did it so that I’d get killed and he wouldn’t…but…ah…the joke’s on him because…he died and I’m…”
Gismondine gestured to himself and did a small, awkward jazz hands. “...I’m still here. There’s a senshi out there who really enjoys ah…choking people…so just be careful. He’s got wings, and a top hat, and I’m sure that he has something to do with cinnamon but…thankfully I haven’t run into him in a while…”
He swallowed and suppressed a shudder. Well. Mostly suppressed a shudder.
“I wish that I would have had a choice but…I’m sure that I would have chosen this if…if I would have been asked…I like…feeling useful.”
Even though he didn’t. Even though he wasn’t anything useful.
“I…I have to settle for what I have though…and I am trying.”
Marialite froze. Her eyes went wide. The prospect he presented...
"Good. He deserved to die," she said, voice vicious and cold. "Anyone who would bring in another officer as a--a meat shield! Deserves whatever awful thing happens to him!"
Galaxite and Caledonite loved her. They all adored Danalite. The whole thing made her see red. The concept of disrespecting a fellow officer like that....
"I'll remember that Senshi," she said, firmly. "And if I see him, I'll kill him. A threat like that can't be allowed to live."
There was no hesitation in her voice. If she found this Eternal, he would die, as far as she was concerned.
"And, Gismondine? You're lucky you're here. This is the right side. You're much safer here than if..." She shuddered. "If you'd Awakened as a Knight first, instead, or something stupid like that."
She looked him in the eyes, face soft.
"Is it better, now? Do you have someone who looks after you properly? Because I hope you do, you would deserve that." Everyone sohuld have something like what she had with her boys and Danalite. Safety. Security. Love.

Gismondine watched her for a moment and then lowered his eyes, shrugging. “I…I mean. I…no but. I have another new General and he’s not bad…he cares…but um…thank you. I’m glad that…you um. Think that…”
He felt his eyes begin to burn. “I…I should go, I um…I think…” Before he began crying and ended up making a complete fool of himself.
“It…It was so nice…ah.” He swiftly ran a hand over his eyes and forced a smile. “...I’m glad that…we were able to look at the ah…the fireflies! You…you have a good night.”
Swiftly, Gismondine teleported before she could say anything more, needing to get away. Needing to just…disappear.
