The City has been lit up for the Star Festival with banners and twinkling decorations strewn off the windowsills of shop fronts and windows. The gardeners at one particular park have put their heart and soul into creating a fairy's paradise: Fairy lights have been carefully dangled from trees to make strings of stars, little beaded jewels have been hidden among the hedges, and even the old cobwebs have been sprayed with just a touch of glitter. The park is open to everyone and the citizens of Destiny City have been invited to respectfully explore the hidden wonders that have been placed throughout. The park is magical enough on its own but there have also been reports of a strange, ethereal and shimmering stranger in the park. The glimmer of a beautiful costumed figure fluttering through the park has been passed around as rumor, and no matter what anyone claims to see, no one can take a picture of it. As if simply seeing some magical figure isn’t mysterious enough, there are also reports of mischief and small pranks being played at the same time this figure seems to appear.
Rhona was busy at home when Tegmine had heard about the strange fairies in the park, so he had to call someone else to help him investigate. The issue was that the only other ranked senshi that he could call was Remarque and Tegmine was still feeling... some way... about him. The rift between Tegmine and his sister had healed to a point where it almost had never even happened, he was forging relationships with other senshi just fine but... for some reason when he looked at Remarque all of the complications came back. It was like it was day one all over again and Rhona was smiling and saying Remarque was as good as my brother while you were away. Still is. Like that wasn't the single most devastating thing she could have told him.
And how, exactly, did he tell Rhona this? That he had been furious for so long after her death because he had tried for so long to be worth living for and it wasn’t enough. And then now, just when he was finally able to think about her without choking on his own sorry, she pops back into his life. And then he finds out she’d replaced him? It wasn’t like Tegmine had that luxury. Tegmine had to go to bed every night in that ******** apartment alone praying that Rhona came back. He didn’t even care how hurt she was or how much trouble she was in, she would at least be back.
But no.
No.
She was alive and chose someone other than him. And it would still be one thing if Remarque embodied power or a principal that Rhona loved, but instead…
Instead…
She had made him her brother.
As though she didn’t already have one waiting and searching for her. Mourning her. Trying to forget her.
Really, he tried to avoid Remarque as much as possible. He was just a man trying to do his best for his family and his court and he had no idea of the complext war being waged inside of Tegmine every time they had to be together. And he loved Rhona, that much Tegmine knew. Maybe even saw her as much as a sibling as Rhona saw him. He didn’t deserve Tegmine’s ire or his jealousy or his anger.
He was… for all intents and purposes… a good man.
A good man who had stolen Tegmine’s sister.
No, Tegmine really really didn’t want to call on Remarque for help.
But Remarque was the only one he knew he could call to help and further than that, he knew Remarque was a good man who took his role as a senshi and a prince seriously. And Tegmine also knew that he had no idea of how or why Tegmine's feelings about him were so complicated. So when Remarque showed up, Tegmine tried to make himself as genial as possible. He waved and smiled, but he knew it was forced.
"Hey man," he greeted in as friendly a tone as he could manage, "I heard about these... fairy things in the park? Acubens says it doesn't... not... sound Mirrorspace-y. I figured I should check it out but I wanted someone ranked around in case I got in over my head. My sister is busy so... wanna go check it out?"
