The Fireflies (6) : In the warm summer nights, little glowing lights begin to bob and dart through the city. Fireflies are mating, so this isn't uncommon in itself; in the past few days you've probably seen hundreds of fireflies. What makes these lights so unique is that they seem to change color; you might see a blue one, a green one, a red one. They flicker randomly, and something just seems off with them. If you come into contact with one, you will find yourself with a strange electric jolt. They cannot be caught, and will flicker away if you pursue too aggressively. This isn’t the first time they’ve appeared in Destiny City, but no one’s been able to tell where they came from or where they’re going. No matter how quickly you chase them, they always seem to disappear before you can find any answers.
"Look, Sophie, the fireflies," said Ren, gently tugging on Sophie's hand as they entered the park. After she'd shown up at his door crying, he'd tried to take her on little dates or outings as civilians. No powered individuals would mess with them, so it felt oddly safer than when they were both embraced by the Chaos in their veins. So he'd asked her to go on a walk with him in the evening, maybe stop for ice cream or burgers, and just... be. Together.
Destiny City always had strange ongoings, especially during holidays or festivals. The fireflies all over the city was no different, really. He held a hand up to try to cup one of the strange little bugs in his hand and it darted a way. Blues and greens and reds all darted around them, basking them in a rainbow of light.
"Still happy that we reconnected, love?" he asked her, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
