The Fairies (7) : The City has been lit up for the Star Festival with banners and twinkling decorations strewn off the windowsills of shop fronts and windows. The gardeners at one particular park have put their heart and soul into creating a fairy's paradise: Fairy lights have been carefully dangled from trees to make strings of stars, little beaded jewels have been hidden among the hedges, and even the old cobwebs have been sprayed with just a touch of glitter. The park is open to everyone and the citizens of Destiny City have been invited to respectfully explore the hidden wonders that have been placed throughout. The park is magical enough on its own but there have also been reports of a strange, ethereal and shimmering stranger in the park. The glimmer of a beautiful costumed figure fluttering through the park has been passed around as rumor, and no matter what anyone claims to see, no one can take a picture of it. As if simply seeing some magical figure isn’t mysterious enough, there are also reports of mischief and small pranks being played at the same time this figure seems to appear.
While Dria was studying for her summer mid-terms, Drew thought he might take Dani to a specific, during the Star Festival. This was one decked out to look all fairy taleish. He was sure that Dani would love it. And it might be the last time she might go for something like this, for many years. In two months was her birthday. In two months, she would be thirteen. In two months, she would be a teenager. She would no longer be a child, and be into the cute fun stuff of fairy tales - that is if she wasn't already out that stage - that is with all the Senshi/Negaverse War going on - and that's right - another year, and she would become a full Senshi, no longer a Chibi. She was growing up. He shook his head to clear it.
Before Drew realized it, Dani had paid for both their tickets out of her own saved allowance. He, her 21-year-old brother had been lost in a fog, and she, his 12-year-old sister had paid for both of them. The ticketmaster glared at him, it was plainly wrong. "Dani! I should've paid! I'm the working adult. Save your allowance, and let me pay attention next time." She only smiled, and said, "We're family, we all have to help out once in a while." She was very wise. The Ticketmaster smiled at Dani and handed her a Star Charm. "Uh, thank you so much, Sir."
They made their way into the park, pointing here and there, where the fairy lights, strung as stars seemed to make certain constellations. A Star Charm twinkled near."
A bizarre constellation stood out to them an unknown and long forgotten one. "Drew, is that the Constellation of the Pyramid?" Drew looked over and saw it. "How do you know of that?" "Somehow... I just do..." They moved on puzzled, but on they went. Soon, they reached the darkest part of the park. They turned off their lanturns and all light and stood there alone in the darkness, as several moments passed.
This was also a reason why they were here - to figure out if the rumors of strange events were true - and if so, act in accordance with what needed to be done.
After several minutes, a light appeared to their left and fluttered away behind them. There was the sound of tiny melodious laughter. Within minutes, the entire clearing was full of such light (all shapes, and colors) and laughter.
Dani was slightly alarmed. "Drew, could this be real?" Drew frowned and commented, "Could it be real that we have magical powers and are from other planets - or at least our souls are? And we fight a daily Supernatural/Paranormal battle against other powered beings? I'm not putting anything out of consideration just yet."
Dani nodded, then pointed to a full-sized glowing woman's figure, in the clearing before them, with glowing wings, who was beckoning them forward.
Dani looked toward Drew, mildly concerned. "Should we go or should we go?!?!"
Drew, seemingly calm, said, "Let's see what she wants." They somewhat walked towards her.
"Greetings, World Protectors." The woman said calm as they walked forward. They blanched, but she said only, "Magic recognizes magic. I will not share your secrets, do not fear. I know why you here. I am Lady Orion, Warden of the Summer Fairies. Sadly, only once a year are we able to come into existance in this world, and so many of the fairies feel so much energy they feel a bit pranksterish, but do not worry, their pranks will never become serious. Now it is time for you to rest."
She flicked her fingers and the next thing they knew they were waking up in their beds the next morning.
