The Charity Benefit (9) : A number of the local businesses in the area have come together to organize a charity benefit. In addition to a silent auction, there is also an evening charity ball. The community has been wanting to raise funds to fix up a few public areas for some time now and in the spirit of the Star Festival, these businesses have donated several prizes to the event to encourage people to attend. Some old warehouses and estates have been cleared out by the city, so there’s a wide variety of strange antiques and hidden treasures. As one of the local residents you have been kindly invited to attend! Formal attire is encouraged but only required if you plan to attend the Ball. It’s a good opportunity to dress up, meet new people, and maybe go home with something neat. Who knows what you can find to trade with Almadel, anyway? And, he’s always back in town for the Star Festival.
Players can roleplay any part of the Charity Benefit, including but not limited to mingling, dancing, enjoying the buffet, or leaving with a treasure they acquired There is no ORP set up for this but players can create group RPs if they like!

Clayton dressed up as nicely as he could for the charity event, even though he kinda needed charity for himself sometimes. He was working and he had his own apartment so he was doing well enough. He took care of himself and didn't his own thing. He was rebuilding his life piece by piece. He had started to watch birds on the roof of his building and bought bird seed to feed them in a small bird feeder. He wasn't really sure what he was looking for but who knew it could be anything. He had heard that there were star charms being given away for this event and he was hoping to collect some of them.

Ah, a charity ball and auction. The bread and butter of high society. Trey had been to more of these than he cared to count, brought by his mother or sent her to mingle with important people and make the sort of connections that would further his career or her business. He'd learned early on how to handle himself, how to make small talk and the most of the event. This time, he was just glad he wasn't the one running it, and it wasn't a Negaverse event, that he knew of. He could, somewhat, relax here and just... be a person for a little while. There wasn't even that much of a chance he'd run into important people to socialize with, so really, his time was free.
Catching sight of another unoccupied young man, he wandered towards him, his hands in the pockets of his pants.
"Enjoying the party so far?" He asked as he got close. "They have a lot interesting stuff in the auction."

Clayton turned to the voice talking to him and he nodded "Yes just looking around to see what I have the hope of winning I don't have a lot of money you know." He said and gestured around. "I imagine a number of people in the city have a lot more money than I do." He said with a shrug he wasn't jealous of others having more than he did it was just a fact. He lived in a small apartment and he had a job that paid his bills. He was lucky to have that much after his life had been turned upside down. "How about you are you enjoying the event? "He paused and then said "I'm Clayton Mercer, but you can call me Clay."

Trey smiled as he shrugged.
"The auction is only part of this. The rest is a party, and you should have some fun. I think that's the best thing you can do, if you don't have money to donate." He said. "I'm enjoying myself well enough, I think. Its nice to see people having fun.
Glancing over the crowd, he nodded to himself. "I've been to a lot of functions like this, and that's always the part I like the most. But I also enjoy meeting new people."
Turning he offered his hand to Clay. "I'm Trey Cameron. Its a pleasure to meet you."

Play nodded in response since he didn't have the money to donate looking for something to buy was a way to put towards the event without causing him to have to eat canned noodles for a week or two till his next paycheck. He nodded again and then said "Nice to meet you as well." He paused unsure what to say next he normally would excuse himself and go look for stuff or mingle with other people. He didn't want to be rude though. So he waited for Trey to agree for them to wander away from each other, rather than just blowing him off in an impolite manner. "Soo well.." He muttered and looked around uncomfortably. He shuffled his feet and licked his lips. He waited a bit more. Nothing else to do with that matter. He just had to chill out and try not to be so uptight with this social situation.

Trey sensed some of the unease in the man as the silence stretched between them, his hand still outstretched before he finally let it drop. He didn't mean to let it go for so long, but the way the man let his eyes wander... the way he shuffled his feet and made those little motions that just screamed unease... He was so awkward! It was a wild contrast to Trey himself, who took pains to look calm and unruffled, at ease in any situation he found himself in.
This guy must really not get out much, if he was having this much trouble with a random stranger. Who'd been perfectly personable, at least in his opinion. Was there a way to put him at ease? Did Trey even care to? The name the guy had offered did not ping in his memory as anyone important or even anyone he had heard before, so really, there wasn't a lot of reason to put effort into socializing with him. He'd taken a shot in the dark, trying to see if he could find someone pleasant to chat with while he was here, but it seemed like maybe he'd missed the mark.
"If you prefer not to buy anything in the auction, I would highly suggest heading over to the dance, if that's something you like to do. Otherwise, the Buffet is that way." He said, pointing towards where he'd seen the tables and people standing around with small plates. "Food is free and its pretty good."
Giving the man a nod, he turned to go. "It was, again, a pleasure to meet you. I hope you enjoy the ball." He said with a lift of his chin and a nod.MiddyGlow we can wrap this if you like!

Clay nodded as he listened to Trey dismissing him and he was grateful since being in a social situation too long was uncomfortable for him. Clay walked around and found a strange-looking bracelet and he decided to buy the thing. He wasn't really sure why, it wasn't like he was going to wear it after all. He then went to the buffet and got some food since the idea of dancing with strangers made his blood run cold. Free food was the ticket since it saved him money which he needed whenever he had the chance. After that, he stayed a little while longer before heading off and transforming into Morpheus to patrol.
