The Fairies (7) : The City has been lit up for the Star Festival with banners and twinkling decorations strewn off the windowsills of shop fronts and windows. The gardeners at one particular park have put their heart and soul into creating a fairy's paradise: Fairy lights have been carefully dangled from trees to make strings of stars, little beaded jewels have been hidden among the hedges, and even the old cobwebs have been sprayed with just a touch of glitter. The park is open to everyone and the citizens of Destiny City have been invited to respectfully explore the hidden wonders that have been placed throughout. The park is magical enough on its own but there have also been reports of a strange, ethereal and shimmering stranger in the park. The glimmer of a beautiful costumed figure fluttering through the park has been passed around as rumor, and no matter what anyone claims to see, no one can take a picture of it. As if simply seeing some magical figure isn’t mysterious enough, there are also reports of mischief and small pranks being played at the same time this figure seems to appear.
Wow, look at all that s**t. Adonis hadn't seen anything like it — at least, not in a long while. All this Star Festival crap was everywhere, all gaudy over the windows, with tinsel and glitter and other garbage hanging from trees. He thought it a bit weird initially, but at the park? The place was overrun with high fantasy horse hockey. All for this Star Festival.
Well, the park seemed as good a place as any to pick up draining for his quota. Maybe he could amass something nice out of it to give to his boss — sort of a peace offering for how he could be a little much for the little dude. And if Kamacite started turning all red again, well… That could be a feature, not a bug.
Adonis dipped down and skirted a clearing at the edge of the tree line, though he kept an eye out for anyone interested in making themselves a target. He hadn't seen any kids come crossing his path, and no Caer Sidis to castigate him for looking at the kids like a handful of popsicles on a hot summer day, but he kept an eye out. Feelers up for auras, too, in case Caer Sidi started marching in out of the blue.
And it wasn't Caer Sidi he felt, but someone he just might be able to call 'friend'. Adonis paused, then headed for the signature, deciding four hands was better than two.

There really was something nice about the way the park got done up for the Star Festival. Maybe it was Marialite's lingering affection for sparkly things as a former Cosmos Knight, maybe it was just that she'd like them regardless, but either way, she was definitely enjoying her trip through the sparkling park.
It was a lazy evening, for her; not much luck on the energy-draining front, though at least as a Captain that was only so much a responsibility she had to worry about. One bad night was just that. And besides, she was pretty sure there was a Corrupt Super nearby, and meeting new people was always a good time.
And a Senshi was pretty easy to spot, so she broke into a broad smile, waving casually as he approached.
"Hey," she said. "Any luck out here? Because I have got nothing."
"Nnnnope, ain't seen s**t, and if I still can't find s**t in another, say, fifteen minutes, I'm gonna give up and enjoy myself instead." Adonis took note of all the dark sparkle to this one, and those bigass braids that could've been longer than his own hair. The galaxy-looking skirt-thing at the bottom, though? Very neat. Really drew the eye.
"Name's Adonis, by the by. Don't think we've met." He offered his hand in case she wanted to shake, but there was no expectation of it. If she didn't, he'd drop it to his side a few seconds later, no harm no foul no hard feelings.
Adonis looked past her, just beyond the clearing. "Supposedly, there's hidden bullshit to find. And I figure, if we find the hidden bullshit, then we'll find some kids or adults or whatever. And they'll probably be excited, which means extra energy for us. Whaddaya say?"

Marialite nodded. That seemed fair--the heat wasn't as bad today as it had been before, but it still wasn't exactly fun, being out decked in black and dark colors in the middle of summer.
"Sounds smart," she said, and she reached out to take the extende hand and shake. "I'm Marialite. We definitely haven't met, I promise I'd remember you." A little charm, a little flirtation, and if he was interested, she could keep pushing, but if not, then it would be given up like she'd all but given up on successfully draining anyone tonight.
His proposition made her head tilt thoughtfully to the side, and she nodded.
"That's good," she agreed. "Find a nice group, pull our quota, get out of here, easy-peasy." If they could find whatever the park was supposed to be hiding. That would be the hard part. Not that difficult, though--it was supposed to be possible for children, and here they were, two full-grown adults. If they couldn't manage it, something was pretty wrong.
Yeah, Adonis liked to think he was memorable. It's also why he usually didn't stick around Negaspace — the higher-ups would start noticing him, and if he was slacking off? More work gets assigned to him. He'd take his chances with a coworker over potentially running aground of the wrong superior.
"You got it, so let's find us some fae dwellings." However the hell they did that. "Gonna guess that there's some marked paths out here, maybe a couple spots off a beaten trail? Which, I think there's some up that way," he added, pointing east of them.
"And we almost look normal if we stick together, so, perks," he concluded with a shrug. He started in the direction of the first path, which he recalled forking off a few times.

It seemed like her tease hadn't landed--Marialite shrugged it off and moved on. Couldn't hit every one straight on, really. You'd eventually miss a shot or two.
"Shouldn't be too far to wander off the path," she said. Wouldn't be safe, that way, after all. And people were so concerned with safety. Especially the appearance of safety. "And we do blend in pretty alright, especially standing next to each other." Most people might take them for a slightly eccentric pair out for a walk, but wasn't a little eccentricity sort of the norm, here?
She hummed, tunelessly, as she walked, watching for any kind of strange things that might be a marker of something that would lead them where they needed to go.
For a moment, she swore she saw something shimmering out of the corner of her eye, and she turned--but by the time she looked for it properly, it was gone. A tiny sigh passed her lips. Disappointing, that had almost felt like it could be a clue.
Oh well.
At least she had good company for the walk. And a goal, and a chance to salvage what had otherwise been a pretty boring night. Good things, all around.
