Disappearances (14) : People are missing. Maybe they’re people you know, maybe you’ve just heard about it on the news. They’re just disappearing. In front of you one second, gone the next, sucked into some between-space. Into some hole that flickers out of sight once it’s swallowed them up. Maybe you got sucked in–right into a strange strange black expanse, with no access to anyone else or any exits. The pull would have been magnetic, almost unavoidable. Some might escape, but maybe you didn’t. Electronics don't work and characters cannot power down. There’s no way to reach the outside world. You might feel the sensation of creatures following you, you might run into obstacles or strange environments in the darkness. While you are in this strange location you may feel hungry but will not starve to death; you may feel tired but you will not need to sleep. Maybe you were lucky and got sucked in with someone. Maybe you’re trapped there and run into someone and team up. One thing is for sure, though–once you’re here, you can’t get out on your own. Characters who get sucked into the strange between-space will not be able to participate in the ORP immediately but will have an opportunity to join partway through so if this is something you’re interested in, please keep your eye on that! The cities heat was nearly unbearable, it was why he'd decided on bingsu as a way for them to cool down. It might not be Chinese, it was Korean, but the flavors were good and it was a nice cool treat to enjoy as a group. There was no way he'd finish a whole bingsu on his own, and he knew it, so he'd invited his sister and one of his partners with him.
The place was packed, as he'd expected it would be, but the line of ordering people had gone down fast and now they were getting ready to order. "What flavors?" Figuring it was likely they'd order two and finish both between the three of them. "Macha for one?" He questioned, glancing from sister to partner.
Kai could honestly say he had never had bingsu before, though he had heard of it, so he was looking forward to trying it out. Eyeing the different flavors offered, he wasn't sure what to pick as most of them sounded delicious. He wasn't too sure on some of the flavor combination though if they did end up getting them he would at least try them rather then outright refuse.
When it was finally their turn though he did have one to suggest at least. "Macha is fine with me if you both want it, how about the oreo for the second?" He said with a smile. The chocolate sounded good and you typically couldn't go wrong with oreo ice cream, however he was perfectly fine switching it out if the others vetoed it.

Rana positioned herself between the two men, hanging from her brother's arm and holding Kai's hand. It had been a while since she had any bingsu, and while she was excited to indulge again, really she was just happy to be out with her boys. She smiled happily up at her brother while he ordered and nodded in agreement with both his and Kai's suggestion, adding in a dreamy voice, "both of those sound wonderful." The flavors didn't matter nearly as much as the company did.
"But can we eat outside where it's not as crowded. And it's so lovely out there, especially for summer."

"Orea sounds good." Though he was likely to keep to the macha, it was a flavor he liked a lot. Looking at his sister as she spoke, noting the soft and almost airy way she spoke, he smiled and nodded his head. "I suppose we can, though I'm not a fan of this heatwave, it would be nice to be in a less crowded area." And outside seating would assure them of that. He was hoping the sun wouldn't burn him, he'd not thought to put anything on anything before leaving for this place.
"Kai, you don't mind sitting outside do you?" Wanting to make sure his boyfriend was ok with the idea as well.
"Maybe we'll even get to see something interesting and worth while." Something likely having to do with the cities star festival, which his sister seemed to like the idea of. It wasn't like back in China, he knew that, but having some sort of festival in this city had gotten his sisters attention.
"After bingsu what do we want to do? Go home or something else?"

"I don't mind, it's not bad in the shade thanks to the breeze and we'll have the bingsu to off set the heat anyway." He nodded without having to think on it too long. The shade would help with avoiding sun burn hopefully on top of just plain keeping them from over heating. Kai absentmindedly started to swing his and Fanglan's joined hands lightly back and forth, smiling back at her bright smile. "I'm sure we can find some place to enjoy the treat and the weather." He said nodding to them both. "I think I saw a seating area under a tree not too far from here."
"I'm not sure, guess we can decide when we are almost done with the bingsu." He said with a shrug. He attempted to use the talk of what they would do after to finish ordering the decided flavors and paying for said food before the other two could offer to pay.

The Star Festival.
Fangaln grinned happily at the mention, already making plans upon plans upon plans for the festivities gripping the city. Really she should scold her brother for never telling her about such a wonderful local tradition. It reminded her of home, of the local festivals held in small provinces and big cities alike. It felt like, for just a little while, they weren't trying to evade war as magical soldiers from outer space. They were just... a family. A family enjoying the summer.
"I want to see the wishing tree," Fanglan all but demanded. She also noticed Kai paying for the food and smiling slyly to herself. She'd already purchased him an extravagant outfit for the Charity Gala that he and her whole harem were going to accompany her to later that week. That, and that alone, was the only reason Kai was able to pay without argument from the younger sibling. "And then there are fireworks tonight again! I want to see those too! Maybe we can ask Miss Rhona to pack us a picnic. Kai, have you ever been on a picnic from Miss Rhona? They are the most amazing things! She always packs so much food and it's all so good! Xi, we need to ask Miss Rhona, I won't hear of another option!" Fanglan did everything but stomp her foot and cross her arms as she planned the evening out.
"But between the Wishing Tree and the fireworks, there is plenty of time to do other things! It's hot enough we may as well go to the reservoir to cool off, right?"
What she didn’t say was that she’d heard of a mysterious cryptid lurking around the area, just under the water. What she would really love to do was get up to some trouble searching for that thing… whatever it was. It was probably nothing, she realized. Underwater plants wrapping themselves around ankles or curious fish coming to investigate dangling limbs. When swimming in the ocean with her father back in China she’d been spooked more than enough times to know the sensations and just how real they felt.
“Oh yes,” she confirmed, steepling her fingers with glee, “I very much would like to see the fireworks. We can kind of see wonderful displays from the living room at home, but I’d love to be right there with everyone else. Sitting on blankets with everyone in the city. The smell of gunpowder.” She sighed wistfully and leaned heavily on Xi Wang.

His sister had really taken to the festival which had taken over the city, he wasn't too surprised though, she had dove right into the whole thing and he enjoyed watching and listening to her plan out things and talk about what she'd seen and what she wanted to do.
"Ok, we can see the wishing tree together. I don't think I've ever really participated i nthe festival till this year." He'd done a bit here and there but nothing really, he'd never really had a chance or a want to do so. His mother would have just ruined it for him so he'd avoided it, in order to avoid it being ruined. She was gone though, to where he didn't know, and he was ok with it. He'd long ago accepted things with her, her leaving and not caring to even tell him.
Knowing not to argue with his sister, especially when she looked moments away from foot stomping and pouting, he nodded his head. "We can see if Rhona can make us a picnic...but Kai and I can cook as well." Especially Kai. Leaning around his sister in order to press his lips to Kai's cheek. "I don't know about the reservoir though...didn't the news say something was going on there?" He questioned as he strightened himself up. Stepping to the side as there order was taken and would be worked on.

"The wishing tree huh? I went there last year, it was pretty impressive to see how many wishes where tied to it." Kai said with a nod. "And of course we can go see the fireworks xiǎo Lan. Did your brother tell you that our trio went to the fireworks last year before we got together? And I don't think I have ever had a picnic from Miss Rhona no, but I shall trust your recommendation." He was glad that neither of them protested about him paying though he had a brief wonder if he should question that luck later.
Kai followed Xi-Wang as he moved off to the side so they wouldn't be in the way of other customers, trying to remember what rumors he had heard about the reservoir. "I wasn't really paying attention to the rumors surrounding the reservoir other then that they found glowing caterpillars in nearby caves, so I'm not sure what you are talking about, Bǎobèi." He should probably had been paying more attention to the rumors but there had been a few busy shifts at his Father's restaurant thanks to the heavy traffic of the festival and he hadn't really had the chance to listen.
Before he could ask for more clarification on the rumors, their order was being given to them. He politely thanked the server and picked up one of the two large bowls of bingsu. "Shall we discuss this more after we find a seat?"
