It’s probably just the heat and not anyone up to anything nefarious, right? Better stay hydrated and try to keep cool, and maybe avoid everyone in weird costumes, just in case.
"Do you want to try to go to the reservoir or to the pool, Tink?" Hux asked as he offered his cousin some chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream sandwichs he had just made. They weren't terribly sweet and there were plenty to share as per usual with Hux's baking. "Both might be crowded but a swim would be relaxing." He said with a smile.

Work was, for now, from home and university was out for the summer. He had no plans to leave the house unless it was to go to the green house, and only because he needed to. He only tolerated summer, and the heat it brought with it, because of his plants. He didn't like the heat and the sun burned him if he spent too long out in it. He'd gotten the fair skin mos tof his family had...which meant no taking color, unless cooked lobster red counted.
Looking over at his cousin, from where he was drying out some tea leaves, and shrugged a bit. "Either or...so long as I don't burn." He spent the summer pale enough he stood out in the sun, and he knew it, but he was ok with it. he'd long ago accepted tghat he could not and would never take color, it wasn't possible. "I can't wait for fall."
Sighing he moved to take the offered concoction from his cousin. Sniffing it, as if it might be something other than what it looked like, he took a nibble. "Not bad, it's not too sweet."
"I heard rumor something is going on at the reservoir though. But that seems to be consistent with every summer since it was built." And given how this city was...it was no real shock either.

Hux too was one who never tanned just burned, though he wasn't as fair skinned as his cousin, so he wasn't surprised at Alex's response. "Well the pool I go to is indoors so it's probably pretty crowded right now, while the reservoir has more space for people to spread out so we might be able to find an area with less people and I have SPF 50 sunscreen we can use. Which of those sounds better to you?"
"Agreed." Cooler weather and a return to teaching didn't sound bad to Hux at all, since he enjoyed his job for the most part. "Glad you like it, I'm testing out a few new recipes and that was on that stood out first." The taller man always made note to what confections his cousin did or did not like, knowing Alex wasn't one who enjoyed a lot of sweet. Generally he would keep any foods he made separated by not as sweet, or not sweet at all, and then sweet while making sure that Alex knew which section was which so he could feel free to grab anything that looked interesting to him.
"Hmm, I heard that too. I think last year there was a youma or a few so it wouldn't surprise me if there were one or more hanging around again." Hux said with a hum, thinking back to how things had gone around this time last year.

"Mmm, both ideas have pros and cons really...more crowded but in doors or potentially less crowded but sunny." Which he knew Hudson didn't much care for either, for the same reason he didn't. It was a trait most in their family shared. They had mostly fair skin and most of them burned rather than take color. They were meant for coller weather, when there was less sunshine to deal with. "At least we have sun glasses." In case the reservoir was where they went, blue eys being more sensitive to the sun than darker eye colors.
"Do you have a prefrence Hudson? You have sunblock and we have sunglasses. Either is doable." And he had a nice big umbrella if they did go to the beach.
"Mmm, I know the sand was squeaking at people once as well...you've seen what this city is like though." Shrugging a bit as he finished laying out the tea leaves to dry. Nibbling some more at the treat as he took a seat at the kitchen table. He was glad for his cousins consideration when it came to his baking, seperating thigns for him, as Hudson took his lack of a sweet tooth into consideration with such things. It was always appreciated so he didn't waste something he'd made, finding out something was too sweet and tossing it out. He didn't want to waste his cousins hard work.
"I don't know how safe it'll be at the reservoir...but we could go anyway. I'm sure if you want to go there we can handke it." Without needing to power up, they were both capable people.

"True enough." Choosing between the pros and cons was the main reason why he had offered up the choice for Alex first as he wanted to make sure his cousin was comfortable with which ever they ended up doing. Still he wasn't surprised when Alex turned it around on him as well, likely even partially for the same reason if Hux had to guess.
He gave a thoughtful hum as he bit into his own ice cream sandwich, weighing both options for the moment it took for him to finish off said bite. "Well, it might be worth going to the beach to see if the rumors are true and if it's something that our side is doing I suppose." He wasn't too worried about the safety of it, after all if wasn't likely any order member causing the rumors, and if it was either an agent or a youma at work they wouldn't be in much if any danger. He wasn't sure completely about the mirror Senshi or the Vanguardian's not on the Dark Kingdom's sides but even then they should be fine between the two of them.

"Mmm, we could do that. I would hope if it's something we're doing I'd know." At the very least he should know, being a General and long standing member of the Negaverse. "But some other officers plans I'm never privvy to." As he'd learned over the years. "The holiday things...those seem to be something elsee entierly...I simply don't know what." Some sort of magic which infested the city and only here...he wasn't sure entierly.
"It could just be part of the cities own magic." Shrugging a bit. "We can go to the beach and see what's going on...we should bring two umbrellas though." One would fit him but not him and Hudson; so they'd need two. "You know you'll have a good portion of the female population staring at you." As he did often enough. Hudson was tall and broad with blue eyes and blond hair...he stood out, in a good way, and Alex noticed this about his cousin as he often spotted the people staring.

Sometimes something their side did have a hand in events but other times there didn't seem to be anyone behind them. "I wonder if part of that is magic built up from having so many people powered up within a small area." That might be something that only the Mauvian's could confirm if they decided to study it, certainly nothing he could figure out on his own. Still it was an interesting thought.
He nodded, already having planned to bring two if they were going to the beach, along with bringing a cooler with drinks and some cool snacks that they could have of course. The reminder of the staring that would by all accounts happen had him giving a little sigh and a light blush briefly showed up on his cheeks. "Unfortunately it would happen no matter where we go." Sometimes it was welcome and other times it was too much, though he wasn't the only one who would get stares. "They will be looking at you too of course." His cousin was also blond with blue eyes but also was small and cute in a way that made people want to hug him at least.

"Mmm, I just wonder where the magic comes from? I have the same idea as you. The negaverse has won everywhere else...so no senshi or knights and no dark mirror senshi. All of them and us here...perhaps it's too much magic in the air?" Like they each had an aura of sorts, something they didn't feel, even when powered down and it gave off too much magic for the city to contain? "Or perhaps due to all the fights and how many wander around powered up giving off a signature." Something which the city drew on, or something, and hence what happened here. But if that was the case...had cities in other countries, in other states, had this issue in the past? Before the Negaverse had won.
"Mmm, sadly you are right." He said shrugging as he went to go get some things for the beach, sunblock being the big thing he needed to get for them both. There was no way either of them were going without it, not unless they wanted to deal with the pain of sunburns later. "I know, I do hate it. I've had people point at my eyes and state there color, as if I'm an idiot and unaware of it. I do know that only a small percentage of the world population have blue eyes...but still." Rolling his eyes as he moved about the downstairs bathroom, where he kept things that everyone could use and share. he kept the sunblock here so it was easier to get.
"I think I heard it's like sixteen percent." And really he did dislike being stared at, especially the cooing some females did, he wasn't interested in most who stared. Right now he really wasn't sure what he wanted or who he'd want staring at him - if anyone. Dating was so damn hard...at least for him it was.

"Maybe this is a question we could bring up to Katya later and see if she is interested in looking into it. Or just share it generally with the other Mauvian's." Hux said with a small shrug. "It might be something worth looking into in order to understand why the city is like this." If it was that the city has a magic of it's own due to the various powered factions that were active then there might be a way to understand it enough to work around it better.
Hux chuckled at the eye roll and response that Alexandre gave then when his cousin left to get the sunscreen he got to work gathering up the rest of what they would need. "Well it's not their fault you are too pretty for them to handle." He said, tone clearly teasing to go along with his smile. "But it just gives us more reason to try and find a quieter spot."
It didn't take them long to get ready to leave and they were quickly on their way to the reservoir.

That it's soaked into everything and thus effects normal things like weather and such." At least at certain times of the year...maybe strong build up...or something else? He doubted it was strong build up but perhaps something else influenced it so the magic absorbed reacted at those times?
It was something worth pondering about but he was also certain it would get them no where, in the long run, and that it might not be the best rabbit hoel to fall down because of that. Why fall down when you couldn't do anything about it?
He'd bring it up to Katya though, something he assured Hudson as they locked up and headed for Hudson's car.
"I'm pretty and you're handsome...I suppose we must make quite the sight then."
