Quote: The Wishing Tree (1): A Destiny City Star Festival Tradition to be held every year; In Town Square, there is a beautiful tree with spreading branches. It is tall, but the lowest branches are easily reached. The city has decorated the tree with small, starlike ornaments and glistening lights. Thick leaves and beautiful purple flowers dangle from the branches, along with a myriad of different colored papers with handwritten wishes. Next to the tree is a stack of blank paper with twine attached, and a handwritten sign that explains: Write your wish on a sheet of paper and tie it to the tree. Take one wish off the tree and do your best to grant it. When you have granted the wish, bury the paper in the park. The papers are biodegradable and filled with seeds. There are no rules for wishing, but you are encouraged to wish for something vague enough that it can be interpreted in many ways so that it can be granted; you do not write your name on it, but it is encouraged to write something that doesn’t wish for self gain, but rather something that can make the world a better place. Some wishes dangling from the tree already include things like “I wish there wasn’t so much litter in the park,” “I wish someone would clean the graffiti off the old historic buildings,” and “I wish there were more volunteers at the shelter.” If you choose to use the Wishing Tree, what do you wish for? If your wish is private, you may write it on the paper and choose a spot in the park and bury it yourself instead of hanging it on the tree. Angelica was out again, but thankfully it was a lot cooler outside. Still though, she had rolled her sleeves up and pinned them back with two binder clips, and she felt quite smart about it too. Her goal for the night was to visit the Wishing Tree. She did try to do it every year, but obviously not as a senshi. Still though.
She made her way towards the area and paused, feeling the same kind of aura as the other day, and when she glanced around her eyes landed on Sappho. “Oh! Look at us both being idiots who like sweaty punishment. Are you here to fill out a wish too? Or here to pick one up to grant? I figure I’ll do the granting later but today I want to write my wish.”
If she had no idea what that wish would be, well. That was between Angelica and her own brain.
“I know we’re not supposed to share them or they won’t come true, but what would you wish for if you could have anything in the world?”

Sappho was a little sentimental about the Star Festival. She'd met Kibirev during one, kissed her for the first time during another, and it all felt like a dream come true. So, yeah, she tended to spend a lot of her patrol time near the festival grounds when it was on, sue her.
There was an Order Senshi nearby, and she went looking, and smiled when she found Angelica.
"At least it's not as bad as it was!" She laughed, striding over. "I hadn't decided yet. Which I was gonna do. But I do like granting a wish or two when I can." It was nice, to clean up the city, and take donations to shelters, and stuff like that.
Angelica's question made her pause, and she looked at the tree.
She thought, for a long moment.
Mostly, she had what she wanted. Her family was wealthy, and she had a girlfriend who loved her, and she got to be magical, and sometimes she got to flirt with pretty girls while magical, which was fun.
But, well.
"...I'd wish for happiness. For myself, and the people I love. That's really all you can ask for, right?"

Oh…now that was a very unselfish wish and Angelica felt herself growing a little warm wish shame over the fact that…she would have wanted something more personal. More…well. “I envy you! I think that’s a fantastic wish and it makes you sound like such a good person. I’m a little jealous, honestly. I was thinking that I’d wish to travel across the world or something if I could just have anything…but happiness for the people I love and myself…that’s. That’s solid wishing right there, Sappho.”
Angelica stopped at the table and pocketed a Green Star Charm before taking one of the wishing tokens and handing one to her…friend? She hoped they were friends.
For a moment she stood, chewing on her lip and finally wrote.
Quote: I hope whoever gets this wish will tell everyone they care about that they love them. Everyone deserves to know that they aren’t alone. And I hope that whoever gets this will be reminded that they too are loved.
It was…kind of cheesy but. It was something that she would like to hear every now and again.
Quietly she walked over and hung it on the wishing tree, closing her eyes for a long moment as though to send other wishes into the sky, and then took off one of the tokens from the tree and slipped it into her subspace pocket for later.
“...I hate that. I get so emotional just writing a wish.”

Sappho's ears burned, and she ducked her head. "Ah, yeah, it's just...I mean, my family's pretty comfortable, so. I've got the space to wish for big stuff, I guess. A trip around the world is awesome, and if that's what you want, you deserve to get to wish for it."
But, then, unselfish wishes were fun too. And that was the kind of thing that the Wishing Tree was for, wasn't it? The kind of wishes that were a little harder to grant.
So she knew exactly what she was going to write down, and she did, scribbling it quickly on the paper and putting it on the tree, and taking a Fuchsia Star Charm from the table as she did.
Quote: I wish that the person who gets this will do five things around the city to help other people be happier. Big or small.
It was a little thing. Maybe no one would do it, and it probably wouldn't end up touching anyone she knew. But it would be nice to think about.
She plucked a wish for herself, and turned to Angelica, smiling.
"I dunno, I think it's kind of cute," she said. "You've obviously got a big heart, Angie."

Angelica huffed but gave a little smile and shrugged. “...Yeah well. So do you. Wanting to bring happiness to everyone. I think that’s amazing.”
She turned away from the tree and began walking, half hoping that the Dark Mirror Senshi would follow her, but also not really expecting her to. “You know.”
The words were said just with the honest belief that she was speaking them to open air. “I would like to be friends now that we’ve met up twice. It seems fair, don’t you think so? I mean, a single meeting is one thing, but now it’s been two so clearly this means that we’re meant to know one another.
Drawing in a breath, Angelica turned her head, expecting to see an empty space beside her but hoping that she wouldn't.

Sappho coughed, but she smiled. It was nice to be complimented--made her feel good, really. Especially when it was coming from someone cute.
The offer made her tilt her head and think for a moment. There probably wasn't a problem with it, was there? Being friends with someone across faction lines?
"Yeah," she said, nodding. "I would love that. It'd be great to get to be friends, and like you said, we've tripped into each other twice, so that's totally fate or something, right?"
And, hey, she could call it doing outreach. Maybe she'd persuade Angelica to join them or something. That would be good for everybody, wouldn't it? Angelica would look extra cute in black.

Angelica didn’t jump when she saw Sappho still there, but she did smile, the expression bright and excited. “Yeah. It is totally fate. Um. I always carry a little money on me when I’m powered up. Would you like me to get us something to drink? I can meet you back in the park or we can just take a walk there together. I think that a slushie sounds excellent right now…and well. Honestly? All the time.”
She couldn’t help that she felt like she was flying. It wasn’t unpleasant but it was strange but.
…Why did it have to be with a girl who wore black?
…But. That might just be tomorrow's problem.
