As promised, Lyonesse was back at the spot where he'd met Gismondine, a week later. It wasn't the best idea, he knew--choosing to show back up where an officer knew he was seemed like it was definitely a thing that could lead to his a** getting ambushed.
Which would be thoroughly troublesome.
Lyonesse sighed. This was stupid, but...how much stupider was it than whatever Kerberos thought he was doing? Going out, helping people, whatever...it was all fine, ultimately.
Still, he waited antsily, aura senses alert. If there was more than just Gismondine too close, he'd bolt, and call for backup. Obviously.

Gismondine had debated coming again, but with a sigh he had made his way to where he had met up with the Knight and swallowed as he saw him standing there, moving to hurry over, almost unwilling to be too far away in case…
Well. In case something obviously.
The fact that he had really returned almost made Gismondine tear up, but he didn’t, and instead gave a shy little half wave. “...You..you’re really here again. I thought. I figured you…um. Wouldn’t come.”
After all, he was forgettable. Easy to leave. Easy to abandon. Why would someone on the other side of the war come back again when his own Generals and his own boyfriend had left?
…Seemed kind of silly to hope.
“...I…It’s n-nice to see you…”

Lyonesse raised his eyebrows. "Why wouldn't I?" He asked. "I made you a promise."
Then again, he supposed that the Negaverse wasn't exactly known for keeping its promises, and he had no idea what kind of experiences Gismondine had with Order. There were plenty of people on his new side who absolutely sucked, and it wasn't at all impossible that Gismondine had run into those.
"And it's nice to see you too." He leaned on his sword. "Have you practiced any of what I showed you last week? The grip, the stances?"

Gismondine nodded, and his cheeks grew warm but…thankfully a question was asked before he could make a complete fool of himself.
“Ah…I…Yes I’ve been practicing. I promise that I have.”
Summoning his weapon, Gismondine went through the exercises that Lyonesse had taught him, face blank with concentration. When he was done, he looked at the knight with a rather hopeful expression. “W-well? Do I need improvement or…what do you think…?”
Honestly, he wanted praise but knew that wouldn’t ever happen. Gismondine wasn’t worthy of anyone’s praise. He never had been. Painfully awkward, Nelson had always been no more than painfully average at best.

It was a little clumsy, but that was to be expected. Gismondine had only been practicing for a week--not nearly enough time to get perfect at this.
"Much better," Lyonesse said, which was true. "Keep working on those, and you'll be good at this in no time." There was a pleased smile on his face--he'd missed this, in a lot of ways. Getting to mentor newer officers, help them come into their own. Maybe he ought to seek out some Pages and see if eh could help them out, too, though he was missing a lot of the traditional Knighthood experience.
"I can already tell you've been putting in the work." He regarded Gismondine for a moment. "Why don't you show me a little offense? Practice stances are well and good, but you need to be able to defend yourself."

Offense…Gismondine wasn’t ever good with offense. He hated the very idea of hurting people. Of taking that final step towards hurting people…it made him terribly uncomfortable but. But he supposed it was better to have those skills then to be lacking them when the need arose. When he had someone’s hands around his throat or…or something worse.
“I’ll…try. But I can’t promise it’ll be anything but terrible I…” He clutched at the weapon again, drawing in a deep breath. “...I’ll try anyway.”
It seemed to be the best thing to say. A promise that he was going to do his best and not let the Knight…the former General down.
Taking a few steps backwards, Gismondine drew in yet another breath, and then looked at Lyonesse, and charging, holding the kusarigama in the grip that he had been shown, and trying to use that knowledge to make an attack that wasn’t…completely awful.

"That's okay," Lyonesse said. "I was terrible until I was good." To say the least. He'd been a mess of an officer, as a Lieutenant. Painite had crafted him into something passable, and by the time he was a Captain, he mostly knew what he was doing.
And then he had become a General.
And, well. By then, he had been exactly what Chaos wanted from him.
The attack came, and it was clumsy, and Lyonesse skipped out of the way, but he was grinning.
"Good! Come on, keep coming at me!"

The words might not have been meant to embarrass him, but Gismondine felt his cheeks beginning to flame. “...I…I oh…” He swallowed and did as he was told, putting on a small burst of speed and working to attack him, focusing better, trying to hit the Knight with his weapon and managing to.
Thankfully it was the dull side of the weapon, but…honestly, he hadn’t been trying to hurt him…
Didn’t want to hurt him. But. If he could land attacks…if he could do that more often.
“I…I think I…might actually be getting the hang of this…ah…m-maybe…”
He was trying at the very least, and all was going well until a tree root decided to trip him up and Gismondine the graceful fell flat on his face.

Lyonesse worked to dodge, but he wasn't quick enough, and the contact of the flat of Gismondine's blade against his cheek made him gasp, and grin broadly.
"There we go! Good work!" He laughed, encouragingly. Genuinely, he was proud of Gismondine--and this reminded him of working with Lieutenants. Bringing them up.
Ugh, he missed mentoring.
When Gismondine tripped, he moved, quickly, snapping out an arm to catch him and keep him from hitting the ground.
"You okay?" He asked, frowning."

Gismondine flushed a deeper red and looked up at the Knight with a startled, stunned deer in headlights expression. “You..ah. You…” He swallowed and stared at him for a long moment and then cleared his throat, forcing himself up and drawing away swiftly. “You…I um. You…this…ah. I…”
s**t.
s**t he shouldn’t be feeling things…for a Knight and…this…
“I…”
He teleported away with a squeak. Uncomfortable and unable to do anything else. This…was…
…Awkward.
…But Lyonesse was…terribly handsome…
If…but.
Oh god. He hoped they would still meet up the next week.
