He loved his boys, he thought dreamily. All of them, every last boy, for all their faults and differences, for all their quirks. And this boy, the one so coiled about him as to be boneless, he loved this boy for the way his fingers grazed over Eion's skin, which was different from Waru's seeking patterns, or Ren's enticing touches, or Haru's soft pets.

But he wondered how it was comfortable. He felt a leg entwined around one of his, and Lionel's head was resting on Eion's folded arm, and there was a hand behind him that curled around Eion's neck, and another hand draped over his hips. He couldn't feel Lie's other leg, so that must have been gone to the sheets. Or, what was left of the sheets, which were largely shoved down to the foot of the bed.

Lionel's hair was long like a Negaverse Senshi's, and he wove it into lazy loops between his finebone fingers. He wished they could spend all day like this –

"Lie." Coal eyes shifted to find the boy's face. "Found a house." And he tried to hide his excitement, but the more he thought about the dilapidated place, the more he liked it. His house, a place to do with what he wanted. "Thought it better for meetings, respites… Privacy.

"Was wondering." Eion shifted, turned on his side, faced the perfect boy with his silky hair and flawless face. Couldn't stifle his smile then. "What would you do with a room in it?"

Lionel’s eyes were closed and he had a terribly satisfied expression on his face as he half dozed, soaking in the warmth of Eion’s body pressed against his own.

When he was spoken to however, he cracked an eye open and hummed softly to show he was listening, though…the more that Eion spoke, the more attention Lionel paid.

And finally, he nodded. “I’d stay there often, honestly. Maybe move my work down there so you would be able to see me more. It seems like if you have it, it’ll be a nice home, and the idea of seeing you all the time? Like, ******** yes. Besides, I’m hoping this means it would be in the Rift? I can go to the Rift…or I’ll be able to a lot easier when I get stronger so…I think it’s a great idea. We could make it a home. And if it’s not in the Rift, forget everything I just said and we’ll make it a home regardless, love.”

He leaned forward, kissing Eion right beneath his eye, grinning slightly. “...Wish I could spend every minute of every day with you.”

"Is that what's going to bring you out?" Eion pressed, wearing the ghost of a smile.

"Could see me more often. Could lay in my bed, for a change." Eion settled into his side curl, facing his boy, and he wondered what he should carve for this one. If anything would suffice, given Lionel's impeccable taste in fashion, or if he was as taken by sentiment as his lover and superior. Given his ready answer, Eion suspected it was the latter.

He breathed a small, contented sigh. "Not part of the Rift, but you'd be closer to it. Nearly at its doorstep. Part of a land married to the Citadel's upper echelons — not as accessible to youma. Living in the Rift…" Eion shut his eyes a moment. "It's grueling to survive there, even for me. Too many unyielding youma, blighted ground, blighted water. Have to dodge from cache to abandoned cache to stay alive. None of you deserve having to subsist off petrified jerky." Though Lionel didn't seem to mind meat —

Grunting his approval for the kiss, Eion ran a finger down the bridge of Lionel's nose that settled on his lower lip. Felt strange to lack his curved nails, he thought, and that finger fell away to instead curl into the boy's trailing hair.

"Have a lot to figure out first. Wanted the ground floor to be a better meeting room — something less formal, with access to a kitchen. One of those large banquet tables for mission briefings, or spreading out work, or tabletop games, or…" He let the sentence languish; he trusted Lionel to catch the subtext.

"Know anyone who can help?"

Good. A life not in the Rift sounded like a life worth living, and Lionel let out a breath he hadn’t realized he had been holding, but nodded, pleased with what Eion was saying, though even more pleased with the touches.

“Are you asking if I know someone who can buy a table? If so, yes. Me. If you’re looking for someone who can build things…the alien I met, the one with the hamster? He’s pretty crafty. Built a greenhouse so. He could be useful in fixing things up, at least to a point. But if it’s money you’re angling for, you have it, Ei. Always. What’s mine is yours.”

He fell quiet, and then gave a soft sigh, thoughtful. He’d give the house to the team, obviously. Would write a note after going down to Amazonite’s office to do the…well. Everything. And at least they’d have a place for any recruits who were so misguided as to have been aiding the White Moon.

Valjean, for one.

“Whatever you need. It’s yours.”

"You sound like we're married." And he smiled, something teasing, but knowing. Something smug, that said he had precisely what he wanted, whether it was the money for the table, the hands to build it, or the knowledge that Lionel was so deeply invested in this — in him — already.

His first thought, that they could go shopping right then, was something he had to swallow back with a margin of restraint. They'd already spent some of his hours together, and he grew more tired with the minutes they passed languishing. Something to look forward to, then. Some day, when they both had the time, they could go out into the wide, shitty world, and find the perfect table. Maybe even test a few out.

This must be what it felt like to be an adult.

"Need you, too," he murmured, and he gathered himself closer, and shut his eyes for another moment more.

“Well, maybe one day we will be.” Lionel grinned and looked so pleased with himself. Perhaps not today. Obviously not today. But someday. Maybe. If Eion wanted to keep him around for that long.

Honestly, he wanted to just spill his secrets now, now that his boy was safe in his arms, relaxed and happy and calm…but…

There was no reason to ruin the surprise he had been planning for so long. “I’m not going anywhere, Ei. I’m yours forever. Promise.”

He pressed another kiss to the top of the boy’s head, hoping that the promise wouldn’t be broken by foolish useless circumstances when he went through with his idea…but. It was too late to back out now, and truth be told, he didn’t want to either.

“Rest now. We have forever.”
