He felt dead tired.

Antisana blinked bleary slate eyes at the small swarm of- pixies?- harassing a stray cat down the alley behind his work. He'd started to find it easier to be powered up whenever it seemed reasonable to be so. Obviously he couldn't maintain it all the time, every day; he knew better than to hold his powered form when around other people. But Antisana could actually sense when youma were near, unlike Indra. And Antisana's powers usually came with a little surge of energy, which he desperately needed. He powered up to walk home from work every day now. Seemed wiser than taking the car, after what had happened during his awakening.

Today, he'd felt the youma as soon as he'd powered up, and he had absolutely no doubt they were coming after him, given their proximity to his place of business. But this lot seemed... stupider than what he was accustomed to facing. And he'd thought he was accustomed to facing most anything.

They were distracted by other living things in their path. In this case, a skinny tiger stripe cat who'd been rummaging through the garbage. She swatted at the fluttering youma while they cackled, pulled on her ears, whiskers, and tail, and tried to ride her while she desperately flopped about to escape them. Antisana hadn't really seen youma be interested in animals before, but even these monsters had been human at one point, so maybe these things just carried over?

He moved down the alleyway, selecting a bit of broken two-by-four from the trash against the wall as his weapon.

He should leave them alone. Honestly, stray cats were nuisances as much as any other, and if the youma were bothering her, then they weren't bothering him, and he really didn't want to deal with more than he had to. Except they'd tire of the cat or kill her eventually, and Antisana would hardly be safe, then. Better to meet them head-on, when they were hardly paying attention.

"Hey." His tone was a low bark, and six pairs of eyes swiveled to stare up at him in shock, as if they weren't expecting him to be standing there. "Quittit," Antisana demanded, and clocked one of them hard enough with the two-by-four to send it careening into the side wall, where it landed with a thud and was promptly dusted. The cat's claws scrabbled against the cement, and she bolted away. The youma didn't follow, but the cackling he'd heard earlier rapidly devolved into a high-pitched screee-, and if they'd been playing with the cat, they certainly weren't playing with him, as they whipped around him in a frenzy, clawing and nipping with sharp fangs and teeth.

Eleonora had only recently received her upgrade and now walked around as a Super Senshi. Along with a boost in strength and speed, she also acquired a new magical ability that was presumably stronger than the Touch of Heat she had been using until now. Additionally, her ability to sense youma, and other powered signatures, was more acute than before.

It was because of this last benefit that she sensed a swarm of Negaverse monsters ambushing a Page not far from where she was currently. A couple of weeks ago she might have mistaken them for a single youma given their proximity to each other and would have been caught unprepared. Fortunately, that was not the case this time.

Spriting towards the Page, Eleoora skidded to a stop and shouted “Hey!” to get their attention to no avail. Strange since most youma would have sensed her as a bigger threat and turned to engage her. But these didn’t even spare her a glance over their shoulders. If anything, they seemed to ignore her completely.

Fine… If they didn’t want to get off him willingly then she would have to make them.

“Cone of Heat” Eleonora brought both hands together and from them, a cone of heat erupted forward to the left of where the man stood since she was unaware of how far it would reach, how hot it would get, and if it was indiscriminate when it came to collateral damage. Please don’t hurt him, her heart and thoughts all but pleaded since she did not want to be the cause of friendly fire.

They were tiny little abominations. Antisana had barely even felt trepidation for them upon his approach because what could something so small do to him? They'd been harassing an animal, and besides being annoying, the damage seemed minimal. This should be a safe opponent for him to manage alone.

It seemed less so now. They whipped around him in a mad frenzy. Where he'd managed to take out one when he'd caught them unawares, Antisana's swings were now landing only on empty air, where the pixie youma were easily able to outmaneuver his improvised weapon. They dove in, out, around. Where their teeth and claws pinched at him felt like a wasp's sting: sharp, burning, and mounting in intensity the more they whirled around him.

Oh-

No.

He retreated sharply back against the brick wall of the alley, smashing his back to the wall so that at least that part of him was protected, and all the youma were forced to stay mostly in front of him.

Antisana barely registered another aura, preoccupied as he was, but when the girl, white-haired and clad in the colors of summer, was directly in front of him, the sight of her attacking so close to him briefly had him jolting away like she was an enemy. It didn't care whether she wore white or black; for a disjointed second, his heart lurched in fear of facing something else.

Then the heat of her magic was chasing the pixies back. He felt the warmth of it close to him, as if he'd been standing in the sunshine for too long, but she wasn't directing it at him, and the warmth was still preferable to the youmas' viscous sting. Clarity came in shortly after. A White Moon senshi girl. She must have sensed the monsters and come to ensure they were taken care of. One caught directly into her magic seemed to wail as it fizzled out of existence, as if caught in a blaze. The others evacuated the immediate space around Antisana and fluttered perhaps two feet overhead, still whirling around in a storm, as if they were corroborating on how to proceed.

Antisana pushed off the wall and slipped warily to the girl's side. "Thank you," he murmured softly. "I took out one of them. They seem unable to endure very much physical stress." One swing of his two-by-four. One direct wave of magic. ...He didn't really know very much about senshi magic, though. "How much longer can you do that?"

“I can use my magic for a few more seconds.” Her voice was calm, but she was already trying to gauge how much energy she had left. Fifteen seconds maybe, but she hadn’t been counting. She flexed her fingers, feeling the faint hum of heat radiating from her glowing red hands. “If need be, I can use it two more times,” Eleonora added, her tone steady and reassuring.

She stepped forward, deliberately positioning herself between the pixies and the Page they’d been harassing. The tiny creatures flitted around them, their iridescent wings glinting in the dim light as they hissed at her magic and chattered in their strange, high-pitched language.

If the situation became dire enough she could always resort to using her Touch of Heat and try plucking them out of the air, rendering their wings useless so they’d be forced to the ground where they’d be more vulnerable. But that was a last resort.

For now, she adjusted her stance, raising her hands to aim the Cone of Heat precisely towards a group of small pixie youma that had foolishly clustered together in a group of four. Their angry squeals filled the air as they scattered, skin tinted an angry bright red from the burning sensation.

The stragglers, meanwhile, zipped around unpredictably through the chaos, too spread out for her magic to be efficient. Eleonora glanced at the man beside her. “The solo ones are all yours,” she said with a hint of a smile, her voice carrying a note of a challenge. “Think you can keep up?”
