Liylasa was on the prowl for treasure once again. Having not found any great finds in several months, she was growing increasingly frustrated. Her papa had told her not to worry. That something was sure to wash up, but she wasn't convinced! It was time once more for her to go out looking on her own!! She had made sure to let both her mama and papa know where she was going like any good child should, but after that she had set off to find adventure. Her big hope was to find something that had washed up from the fancy people she'd heard about across the sea, but she wasn't so sure she would. Best to look either way! She had her pack thrown over her shoulder and held it close to her as she rushed along the sands. She went waaaaaay away from her base into even new territory, her only hope being it wasn't already claimed by one of the others! They didn't like playing with her anyway. Humming to herself as she swung her arms back and forth, she barely managed to spot something shiny lying several yards away in the sand.
"Ohhhhhhh what is this shiny thing?" Liylasa clapped her hands together, wandering over to the object completely oblivious to anyone else around.

Tethys 1 He was walking along the beach and breathed deeply of the sweet briny ocean air. It was a relief to get away from the family once in a while. Ever since his niece had been kidnapped, it had been very hard to be around his middle brother. For good reason, but still it was hard to function with that much moody around. Sae his sister in law was healing at least, when she was better he was sure that Ushi would be too, then the whole family could go out and search properly. It tore him up inside that anyone would steal a little girl. He walk took him further along the beach, and he spotted another little girl, searching for treasures likely, just as he had done growing up. He couldn't see anyone else around and a part of him was afraid that someone might take her just as his niece had been taken. "Hi there do you need a treasure hunting assistant?"

Liylasa perked up as she was addressed, pausing her search in exchange for figuring out who had been speaking to her. She'd never had an assistant before! With the other kids generally ignoring or outright being mean to her, she was always the lone wanderer. Not that she minded too much. It meant more treasure for her. Having an assistant would make her search bigger though! She could cover more ground and even convince him to carry the bigger stuff. The boy looked like he had big strong arms after all. It didn't take her long to completely forget about the shiny thing as she moved to stand next to the taller boy. Her papa had said be careful of strangers, but he didn't seem mean or bad. If he was she would hit him with her bucket and yell really loud!! "If you wanna be my assistant! Though I guess we should test it first to make sure you know what you're talking about. Not everyone can be the assistant of the greatest treasure hunter around, you know?" Liylasa beamed up at him, holding out her hand to shake like her papa always did. "I'm Liylasa."

He took her hand and firmly but very gently shook it in greeting. He was already quite wrapped around her little finger. "My name is Tethys. What sort of test were you thinking about? I will do my best to earn my position." It was refreshing to talk to someone else besides family for a change, though from the look of her she would probably fit right in without his family noticing all that much, besides the hair being a slightly lighter shade than the usual blue or teal found around his parents beast taming ranch. He was already having fun.

"Well, perhaps we should test your skills! Uhm, hm hm hm," she muttered to herself towards the end, looking around the beach and tilting her head back and forth as she considered. "Oh! I know! There are several treasures here! I'm certain." Liylasa reached into her pack and held up her crudely drawn map. She tapped the little doodles of the shore and the waves and then tapped her head. "The waves bring things in. Papa said so. So find me a treasure and you're hired, Tethys!"

Tethys had been beach combing since he was very little, it was one of his favourite places to be for this very reason. He nodded, certain that he was going to win this. He did enjoy a challenge after all. He scoped about and poked near the shore line. Heavier treasures would be closer to the water, they would also be fresher too, not rejected by all the other people who had come and inspected these very sands usually quite early in the morning.
He waded out a little ways and shuffled about. Longer legs were definitely an advantage. His toe thunked into something and he smiled. Bringing up a large pink conch shell by submersing the top half of his body.
He placed the treasure in front of the little girl.

"Yes!! This is good! I'm so proud of you, Tethys!" Liylasa clapped her hands, surprised at how fast the older boy had found such a wonderful treasure. She lifted it up and held it in front of her eyes in order to inspect it properly, like a real treasure hunter would! Liylasa nodded approvingly at it once she had inspected it better, holding out her hand once more to shake. "Alright assistant! Welcome to the greatest treasure hunting team! We should probably come up with an official name....and get the word out in case anyone doesn't know who we are. What do you think?" She bounced a bit as she looked at him and waited eagerly for an opinion on her grand plan.

He paused, feeling an internal glow when she said she was proud of him. He supposed that worked with anyone who said they had pride in someone, but for some reason it really hit home. She was so adorable. So easily accepting him now that he had proven his worth. All very admirable. "Hmmm. Team Search? Team Adventure, Team Intrepid?" He looked at her wondering if she might have a better name idea. "I can't wait for all the wonderful things we are going to see!" He loved adventure, it sorta ran in the family. "I er um, do you have any issues with Keldari? I have two that come with me everywhere. I want to be a beast charmer you see and they are my first great project. They might be able to help us find food and or treasure on our journeys." He knew that not everyone liked serpents.

"Whoa!! Team Adventure is such a cool name!" Liylasa cheered, standing a little prouder with the new name. "You're so smart, Tethys. Team Adventure is going to be the greatest around." Liylasa had already begun to scan over her map in an attempt to locate more treasure when Tethys mentioned the Keldari. "You're good at treasure hunting and you can charm beast friends? Can you speak their language? Or do they understand you? Why are you so cool?" Liylasa fired question after question off, completely enthralled by the boy and his beast.

"Well my sister is a little better with them than I am her Keldari Ray is a sweet sweet boy. But I'm practicing with my two Lurk and Slink." The Keldari had been hiding in his shirt the whole time and they curiously came out with a little prodding to flick their tongues at the little girl. "Arn't they cute? Their language is more body language and vibration but I think they understand more than most people give them credit for." He told them all his secrets which were not many and they kept them safe.

"I love them! Hello Lurk and Slink!" Liylasa beamed at the two Keldari, eagerly sticking her hands out to touch both of them on their heads. Liylasa stared up at Tethys, watching his movements while she pet his friends. "You know, you could train them to do tricks and then be a traveling entertainer too. That would be really fun to watch! A half of Team Adventure plus some cute friends. I'd certainly pay to see something like that," she nodded her head at her reasoning, removing her hand from Lurk to reach into her bag for a shell. As payment of course.

"I thought about learning to dance with them to earn coin. I think it would be very fun." He smiled at her. Her enthusiasm was infectious and he really enjoyed being around her because of it. He was happy that she hadn't run screaming for the hills either. Not everyone liked keldari, but the girl was solid and the keldari liked her too. Which was an indication in and of itself.

"Right? It would be so fun," Liylasa smiled up at Tethys, touching his arm. "You are my favorite friend. We can be friends forever and I'll go see all of your shows and your dances. It is a respectable job. Like treasure hunting." Liylasa nodded to herself, hoping she sounded reassuring. Or smart. Or someone impressive! Either way, she wanted Tethys to like her!! She just hoped her trying to sound like an important girl didn't annoy him. She could maybe do what Kynin had taught her, but did it really work that easy?? "Uh....." Liylasa looked at his arm and back at him. "We're super friends, right?"

"Yes, I consider us so." He enjoyed spending time with her, she was fiery like his family and knew what she wanted from life, something he himself was just starting to really figure out. He had been mildly timid as a child but that came with being one of the smallest with so many siblings, then Kynin came along and he was just like that one of the older brothers. But he wouldn't stay that way forever. He had been blessed with brains that was all, so he thought about stuff before he did it..unlike Thal and Grandpa who were creatures of action.

"That's good, that's good," Liylasa nodded, rubbing her chin between her fingers like a hardened investigator would. She bounced on her heels, bucket plopped precariously in the dirt as she looked over Tethys. Leaning forward like Kynin had said to, she chomped down lightly on Tethys' arm. There! As far as rules went they were super duper friends now. "Friends." She let herself linger near Tethys for a moment longer, debating on if she should bite the boy again or not. Just for good measure. Though she didn't want to be rude.
