Tap tap tap…came the gentle and rhythmic rapping of Kalen’s pen against his table as he allowed his mind to wander around the mental checklist he had. Things had gotten increasingly complicated lately; perhaps he had been too ambitious. Things had admittedly become much more complicated between making Cash and Morelia’s assailants his public enemy, preparing himself for the bout with his brother, and now avoiding the near omnipotent eye of his mother Nepherlotep. Then there was the one who practically handed him to his diabolic creator: Raelyn. At that point, he hadn’t even done anything…evil. There may have been a scheme in the works, but there was no vile act that could birth vengeance, no manipulation, no malicious promise, nor threat that could have logically been the reason for her to so brazenly invade his dream in hopes to send an intimidating message. That alone made him believe that he may have underestimated her manic desire to free herself from the chains of ownership…things really have gotten undeniably…chaotic didn’t they? Tap tap tap.

What was even more bizarre was that she hadn’t made any more attacks on him, not that he made it easy. Kalen no longer slept at the staff barracks since the dream, and he had someone not only ward his offices with magics to obscure him from the eyes of the chaotic gods, but also from general magics. The latter, however, really only worked for minor magics and likely wouldn’t work if she performed something potent. He knew very little about what spells she could cast, so counterspells couldn’t really be applied. He sure as hell wasn't going to be falling asleep on campus though, that was for sure. Tap tap tap.

And finally, there was the blade Shalis-Gul. He had been feeding it for hundreds of years and it had yet to completely mature. That being said, testing it against any form of complete divinity was a gambit of sorts. The golden irises flickered with irritation for a bit. What exactly did the blade want? Was it’s gluttony not satiated by the countless lives he had taken thus far? Not impressed with the agony he carved into his victims? He didn’t understand. At this point he was under the impression that the god Hell Splitting blade was looking for a particular kind of chaos and misery. The thought made him uneasy, which was not something that was easy. Kalen set the pencil down and pushed himself out of his chair, wandering towards the bookcase. His hair was still in dark raven curls, hanging low enough to obscure the predatory eyes that were hidden behind them. His herculean figure flexed against the gray T-shirt beneath his white lab coat and his large legs were hugged by the flexible fabric of his khaki dress pants. At that moment he looked for a book on the bookshelf adjacent to the door. He needed to prepare some healing potions for himself seeing as Alluvion had an advantage at long distances. He knew that he wasn’t going to be able to close the gap between them without getting wounded-mortally even. Thus he needed some kind of prestaged aids to help.

Like smoke from an extinguished candle Raelyn emerged from the darkest corner of his office without a sound. Not even the softest click of her heel in the quiet office looming towards the desk she perched herself onto, brushed back her long blonde hair and crossed her legs to drape her arms so elegantly over. Rae watched him sift through the books on the dusty shelf obviously lost in his own head and smirked bringing her thumb to her bottom lip and brushing it curiously. A soft sigh cut through the rose scented air and words danced not far behind like a poem read rhythmically to no one in particular, the silence her choir. “Something bothering you? “Her taunting smirk held tightly to every word that dripped off her ruby painted lips. “Kahlil?” she threw each syllable like silver bullets, and fantasized about how they might land. Whether they would be simply brushed off. Or whether they would pierce the man's thick skin. Would he throw them back with even half as much venom or would he push them back through her skin himself, how exciting it was to know something like a name. Rae had learned the importance of a name, but only once her own was stripped from her the weight a title carried may have changed over the years but would seem to always remain just as important, after all what better way to be remembered. it was mid-day but darkness loomed around her like it always seemed to. a floral curtain of twilight to accent those deep obsidian eyes black light the nights sky and despite it her situation just as wild. Freckles speckled the bridge of her nose like dark stars hanging in a milky sky. The last reminded of her old self a life, long forgotten, when things like the sun could still reach her and life still filled her body.

User ImageHmmmm, what would be more ideal? Extract of phoenix lilies would work immensely well for any kind of wound, but the viscosity would delay the rate of absorption. Not only that, but the substance was not beneficial to delivery via IV thanks to its density…no no no, that wouldn’t d-...Suddenly a soft voice cut into the silence-like a heated knife through soft butter. Oddly enough though, Kalen hadn’t stopped at all. In fact, he was already closing the book and reaching for another; It was as if her sudden invasion of his office had gone completely unnoticed. That was, of course, until she mentioned his real name. His hand had just touched the hardened spine of another text on ancient and ideal ingredients for apothecaries when it suddenly stopped, interrupted by the serrated truth that Raelyn had intentionally delivered to cut into him. And she had succeeded, to a degree. ”Well if it isn’t the woman of my dreams,” came a dark purr. Kalen was an educated figure, who donned a comical vernacular to appear more approachable…Khalil, on the other hand, seemed to be an entirely different persona. His words were calm, but stained in something that promised only the darkest fortune.

The very hand that failed to claim the old text lifted to comb up through his messy curled locks, which notoriously obscured ‘Kalen’s’ facial features. Now, by some cosmetic sorcery, it seemed to appear more straight. More than that, the reality just above his head seemed to warp and dissolve…revealing to infernal-like horns once the arcane veil had eroded. ”I guess more honest formalities are in order,” The man turned, golden irises no longer sitting in the whites of mortal eyes, but instead a murky gray. An oddly handsome yet dangerous grin began to blossom on his features. After that, he casually approached the woman who had perche herself on the corner of his desk like a cat would: radiating an air of self imposed superiority. As he approached, Khalil even went as far as to discard the white lab coat onto the floor, revealing the gray Short sleeve shirt that was stretched against his chiseled musculature. Why? Well Kalen was the doctor…and Khalil was an entirely different monster. ”Khalil Levine,” he had left a couple feet between them when he reached a hand out to her own, ”To be transparent, I’ve been wondering when you would visit after the stunt you pulled.”

A Smirk hit her face as her eyes hit his. Obsidian orbs matte and dark trailed over his features reading each story written in the history of his skin. Closer, Closer, and yet closer he crept until the air between them thinned to a close. His hand however would not contact her cold canvas. Rae leaned forward closing the distance between them her eyes unwavering on his as she stomached the superior tone in his voice. Like a grouse puffing out his chest he adorned a truer form and she inched softly, slowly into his space yet as she fell forward off the desk her spiked heel clicked just once, and then... nothing. The soft floral scent that fallowed her around would fill the room. she appeared behind him her shoulder blades pressed against the side of the book case her body arched off it and the book he had almost taken; now in her hands. “Are you trying to intimidate me Mon chéri? “She shut the book pushed her shoulder from the dusty book case and walked towards him now with a mischievous swagger in her step. Slowly yet with such clear intent like a cat ready to pounce at a mouse. A hunter with prey reflected in her eyes. Her hips swayed with the confidence of a Women undone. She approached him now smirk to top his earlier superior tone. Like any good Apex Predator, she loved the games, the chase. to play with her prey, how cute it was he felt such confidence as to be the one whom entered the lion's den, and approach the beast. “If you missed me so badly why leave, why these cute parlor tricks to keep me out? Are you afraid of little old me?” she teased her voice echoed a sarcastic pout and her movements stayed subtle. she chuckled playfully walking past him at the desk. Her eyes left him long enough for her to scan the room. She didn’t actually believe he would be stupid enough to leave the weapon here in the office, but just in case she would take note of every detail. “In any case, we are friends now, aren't we? why shouldn’t I visit a friend.” the word friend didn’t seem to feel friendly at all as it passed her ruby lips. Delicately fingertips rapped against the desk dragging lightly manicured nails across the surface. tracing every groove as she circled around him. Her words soft as she whispered over his shoulder into his ear “where is it Kahlil? “Her shoulder brushed his lightly, moving the fabric over his skin only slightly as she rested herself back against the desk beside him now. Her actions a gamble, like Russian roulette without the gun.

User ImageEven after Khalil extended an olive branch of new beginnings, it was not received by the woman sitting in front of him-or rather she had been in front of him before she slipped past him to catch a glimpse of the same apothecary text he had been revisiting earlier. Khalil wasn’t a big fan of that one, especially since he had ulterior motives. A brief sigh slipped his lips as he took his hand back and inserted it into his pocket while Raelyn began to taunt him with charming sarcastic quips. Calmly he rotated just enough to watch her over his shoulder. She was a stunning being, but her head was up in the clouds…caught in a false delusion of superiority. ”Maybe…maybe not, but let’s not get caught up in the semantics,” came a dark purr. The floral notes lingered in the air, mingling with the aroma of subtle cinnamon that lingered on the hardened musculature of his body. It was then that she insinuated at something truly preposterous. ”Scared of you,” he chuckled, ”You’re cute. No, but I do worry about the uninvited individuals you allow in my mind.”

His golden irises sunk deep into her own. He knew he was being sized up, monitored carefully as Raelyn returned back to the desk after circling him like a vulture before stopping to issue one last demand. By then she had closed the space between them, the heat of her breath tickling the fine hairs of his neck. ”It’s around,” He said in a sultry whisper…and from his close proximity, he took the chance to use his inhuman speed and the intimate space between them to make a move to leave a chaste kiss on her cheek. If successful, that one gesture would be the vehicle to place the Mark of the Mute on her. She wouldn’t be able to see the circular sigil branded on her face like a blank ink tattoo, but she would immediately feel a complete detachment to her own magic if she failed to avoid the kiss. Luckily for him, she had done what he had intended to do with the handshake: close the distance for him to turn her into a mere mortal so that he may toy with her to his liking. That being said, without her magic allowing her passage in and out, the only escape would be through the door…which he could easily reach seeing as she was seated…and he was standing. Not only that, he had made this room soundproof… for patient confidentiality reasons. Can’t have anyone trying to overhear anything.
