Sova wasn't used to powering as often as he ought to be, in his mind. He supposed power was well and good, but, his twin needed him more -- or he needed her more? He wasn't entirely sure... But he was sure she'd scold him for not "trying", and tonight he slipped out the door, pen in hand before henshining into Dark Mirror Sailor Sova, and wandering into the depths of night to seek... Energy? And trouble. The chaos senshiu in navy and gold was on his way, walking through endless streets tirelessly. Admittedly, he could probably do better sweeping the city, but he supposed that concept was well past gone. Besides, auras were noticeable, so land or air, as it were, he was detectable, so why prance around like a damnable idiot? Sova brooked no bullshit, at least, not in his own practices, and the senshi paused near a small bookshop to catch a break befoe tensing as the sensation of an aura most unlike his own tingled the fringes of his senses. Immediately, Sova tensed, shifting his weight to feel out what was wrong as the unsettling feeling of Something Different rushed towards him, the Dark Mirror frowqning deeply until the other aura engulfed his like a shroud and the Dark Mirror looked for the source, to see a senshi in white, blue, and silver running in his direction as if fleeing... Something, and he frowned, white brows furrowing before he took a proper look of the incoming senshi. Female, mortified, and possessed of fluffy white butt wings. She wasn't as powerful as Remarque, but decidedly stronger than he was, and for a moment he considered letting her rush by. She looked older than he was, even, but he doubted a senshi strong enough for wings on their a** was prone to fear. Normally. And really, Sova didn't want to find out what in the nine hells was chasing Lady Asswings was without a warning -- it might come for him - so he shifted, opening his mouth to speak before the senshi... shot behind him and ducked, trembling like a leaf and making some rather pathetic sounds that almost earned a scolding, but he also wasn't a raging a*****e... His sister got scared at times too. Still, someone elder hiding behind him was... Odd.

"Forgive my tone but what the hell?" Sova asked. The woman didn't move, instead making a creeling-like noise a moment before sobbing.

"P-pkease... Okease... She'll find me... She'll find me! She found my home, she-- She found my identity unpowered! The Negaverse -- The Negaverse will - will -"

"OK, ok, slow down, slow down and start over because I don't understand a word you're saying. You're the only aura in the area besides mine. Breathe, lady." Sova encouraged. The other senshi nodded, shaking violently.

"O-ok... A senshi from-- from the Negaverse... She found where I live... She snuck in and... And now she knows who I am and -- and I'm scared -- I don't want to be in the Negaverse, I don't - I don't want--" And she sobbed again, but Sova... Picked up enough. He didn't entirely know what a Negaverse was quite as much as he understood ir was likely some other chaos faction, but a compromised identity? That was worse. That was damgerous, that was --

"So why are you crying on me? Not to be a b*****d and all lady but I'm not some white clad senshi. I'm in the Dark Mirror Court. Y'know. Not the 'White Clad Weirdo' court." He blinked, and she swallowed, hesitating.

"Because I don't... A long time ago, before awakening, that is -- I... I met someone like you.. Ad she was nice to me." The woman swallowed nervously. "Dark Mirror... Don't seen malicious. The Negaverse is."

Oh. Oooohhh, that was... A big generalization. Sova almost wanted to point out she was generalizing, but that... That probably didn't help her situation in the least. And it sounded like this other group planned to harm the woman, which sat poorly with the teen, whom honestly wasn't--

"Wait, why would you join this... Nega...verse?" The NAME sounded absolutely stupid and Sova wrinkled his nose promptly. "That name is stupid. Negaverse? Negative Universe? Stupid."

"Because they can corrupt me! They'd make me go insane, or kill me at this point; I--" She was close to sobbing again and Sova bit his lip.

"Corruption...?" He asked. Elpis remained distressed, nodding.

"Force me to... To join them -- starseeds aren't immutable, you see -- we can - can - change -- I don't want to corrupt, I don't want to be enslaved, I--" She was sobbing again, but Sova was taking in all of this new information quite seriously. And he did not like it. And he had no interest in finding out if this Negaverse would corrupt? Was that the word? him too. ...Actually, he realized he was out of his depth being soothiung head pats, though after a moment he blinked, an idea brimming in his mind before he spoke again.

"I'm not sure I can help, but I might know someone who can. He's a lot stronger than both of us -- come on." Sova grabbed her hand before leading the run, rushing for the park in hopes he might run into Remarque. The operative tyerms were hope, and think -- he didn't know if they could help, but maybe they could? All Sova knew was he was out of his breadth and Remarque, of anybody, was sure to know what to do, of anyone... Assuming he could find the man out tonight, and Sovba rushed into the park, gripping Elpis' wrist firmly as he began looking for the other man frantically.

"Come on... Come on... PLEASE be here tonight, I can't just bring a stranger home from some other court..." Not if it risked his family, anyhow, which it might.

Luck was on Sova’s side.

Remarque rarely had a singular place that he liked to patrol at night, especially if you didn’t count Mirrorspace, so the fact that he was at the park at the same time as they were must have meant that someone was looking out for Elpis.

At first, Remarque didn’t think anything of the rapidly arriving energy signatures; he wasn’t accessing his true form and found it easier to pass as Eternal Remarque unless he had something important to do. Briefly he considered that there might be trouble–especially given that it was a Dark Mirror Senshi and an Eternal Senshi.

So if the White Moon was terrorizing one of his Court–

No, he was holding her wrist.

Remarque had stepped out of the shadows and approached them with a long, prideful gait, only to realize that the Dark Mirror Senshi didn’t seem to be in trouble.

But, they were still running.

He wasn’t in the mood to play guessing games, so as soon as they were close enough for him to call out to, he asked, “What’s going on here?”

Sova was relieved to see Remarque, in all honesty. He was willing to help the White Moon sensi search for help' by all means, he was more than happy if she calmed down after that - thern maybe he'd be able to have words about generalizing. But honestly, he strongly suspected she was too worked up to think properly, considering how clipped he3r explination was, so when Remarque called ad, Sova looked infinitely relieved tyo see the Dark Mirror and led Elpis over with a mix between a disdainful scowl and moderate concern. He was trying to be understanding, he just didn't know her well enough to be as understanding as if it were, say, his twin sister.

Still, he also wasn't in the mood to be a jerk either.

"Alright, alriught, breathe." Sova grumped, a compromise between mindsets before he looked to Remarque, immediately knitting his brows. "She said some... Kind of... Nefaverse woman found her home address? Something along those lines? She keeps having a panic attack over it. Or sobbing. Both? Both. But that's the gist, beyond she's convinced she'd be corrupted? Or killed? Again, we're a panic attack in boots right now. Lady. Breathe." Sova wasn't good with this kind of thing and he knew it. He tried though, and pat Elpis' hand awkwardly. It seemed to help enough for the Order senshi to swallow a minute, unsure how the other Eternal could help her, but Sova seemed sure he might, soi she did try, voice halting. Fearful.

"It... It was a Negaverse senshi... Oh, good gods, I was training her before she was corrupted, I don't want-- I don't want to get dragged into the Negaverse -- I don't want to lose my mind, or die-- I.." Started to choke on a sob again and Sova looked to Remarque, motioning. This was what he meant.

Elpis tried, at least!... Even if she was sobbing again, a rather uncharacteristic sight, if anyone knew her.

Remarque clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth, not rude and not unsympathetic, but a simple escape for the obvious weight of the situation. “Yeah,” he said after a few seconds, “That sounds like their MO. If they know who you are, I have no doubt that you’ve only got a matter of time before they come for you. And the more you fight, the more they take.”

A truth. A hard truth. One he was maybe laying on a little thick. He could have offered her reassurance, but she needed help and he needed her to understand that she’d been brought to him.

He could spare her life. He could save her memories.

But she was still going to lose something.

“We have a sort of truce. They don’t mess with us if we don’t mess with them. I can protect you in the Dark Mirror Court, but I can’t do that if you’re a White Moon Senshi. I can save you, but you have to be willing to trust me. You have to know that I’d be doing this to protect you. I won’t take Senshi that don’t want to join us, I won’t force that on anyone. It’s a choice. And, it’s the right one. I’ll look after you. We’ll get this whole mess taken care of.”

Sova relaxed some vbisibly, relieved Remarque was in a charitable mood. He wasn't overtly worried the Eternal could harm the man, but she seemed to be calming. Sova slowly let go of Elpis' wrist, but didn't leave, either. There was a point, and purpose, to his presence -- he agreed to getting help and he was rather curious what Remarque planned, though he did take Remarque's words as warning and useful. The Negaverse ounded...

Well, he didn't want his sister falling into their hands, or his father or cousins, and the Dark Mirror nudged Elpis a bit to help her calm a bit, Elpis rubbing her face and nodding.

"I don't doubt they'll do their worst..." Elpis managed slowly, the brunette swallowing as she tried to calm. She was shaking, but she wasn't afraid of either senshi -- not because she was outnumbered, but because her trust was being rewarded with hope. Elpis took a moment to calm herself, trying to compose as she swallowed. "I'd trust the Dark Mirror Court over the Negaverse. I've -- run into another of yours some years back, before I ended up in the war myself. It was a positive experie3nce. I'd rather trust you and yours, over the Negaverse."

Elpis knew all too well what they were capable of. She saw what they did to Ferris and Callisto, and the invasion was still a fresh memory. She was willing to throw herself into a fight with the Negaverse, but the Dark Mirror Court?

No. Never.

True, she was generalizing, but it wasn't without reward -- she could deal with a lecture on generalizing if it got her away from them.

"Wait, they can join our court?" Sova asked. The words hadn't sunk in yet, really, either, Elpis blinking and looking to Sova. She finally registered, Elpis looking to Sova before visibly thinking, then nodding.

"I'd still prefer that over the Negaverse." Elpis admitted. "Senshi there... None of them seem exactly sane anymore."

Sova wrinkled his nose promptly, looking to Remarque in concern. He didn't like the sound of that, and it showed on the teen's face as Elpis... Awkwardly pat his back.

"Trust me. You're in a better space." Elpis admitted. Candidly.

Remarque nodded slowly. “You won’t lose yourself in the Dark Mirror Court. You’ll be who you are, at your core. The decisions you make are your own. So.”

He paused only briefly, and in the blink of an eye his form seemed to shift. Black wings sprouted from his back, and his outfit stretched and morphed into something else.

His energy signature grew.

It wasn’t just performative; when the change had completed, he waved his hand and a tall, dark mirror seemed to manifest out of nowhere.

“The mirror will save you. We’ll protect you, for as long as you wear our colors. I know this isn’t going to be an easy change, but we’ll help you settle in. You’ll need a new identity, but we can manage that. We’ll make sure you’re taken care of. You have nothing to fear. I can’t promise you’ll ever be able to go back to your old life, but I can promise you that we’ll make sure you get to move forward with a new one.”

He gestured to the mirror. There was something odd about it, but it seemed neither dangerous or evil.

Just there.

And all she needed to do to reclaim her life was step through it.

Elpis was... Impressed, actually. She had never encouyntered anyone this powerful... That was a senshi, before. While she recalled the General-Sovereigns from the invasion, Elpis had no idea a Senshi could be this powerful, and honestly, she was impressed -- and it was comforting. She afforded Remarque her continued respect, listening carefully. This was -- this was the best. Though returning to her old life felt... Lonely, to think of when there was hope. Safety, and the kind she'd lacked in the White Moon -- what with her fear of corruption running deep. But this? She could be her.... Maybe... Even find a new start she desperately needed, and slowly the senshi approached the mirror -- not of fear, no -- she was curious as she drew close.

Sova supposed he could've left, at this point, really -- he'd delivered the frightened senshi to his boss, and from there ensured her safety, but -- well he supposed either it was a desire to mess with his uncle Titus and cousin Nicholas, or maybe he wanted to offer more, but as Elpis finally stepped through, Sova couched, and looked to Remarque calmly.

"I can't exactly set up finances" The teen said agreeably, but there was mischief in his eyes -- friendly, cheery mischief that was harmless enough. "But I think I can arrange a family support. My grandfather wasn't exactly known for monogamy -- if, say, a lost b*****d happened upon her missing father's grandfson..."

Sure, he was messing with all of his family, but oh it was worth the effort.

"All I'm saying is, my father and uncles and them won't question the old man having some daughter they didn't know about, if it helps..." OK, maybe he did just want to help -- but he was still having fun with it!

Remarque watched as she stepped close to the mirror, as it rippled as she approached. He watched as it opened to welcome her, watched as she stepped through. Waited for her to step back out again. Even though he knew what was going to happen, he still wanted to make sure nothing seemed off. He wanted to make sure she stepped out, new and unharmed and safe.

Briefly, his eyes darted to Sova. “Well, if you think you can manage that, it’ll take a weight off my shoulders. The alternative is that I move some things around to make sure that she’s taken care of. I’m not going to send her out into this all alone, I’ll see who we can contact about new identification, too. If you can work that out, good. Keep me updated. Do you have space for her back at your place or should we set her up with a hotel for now and then see about getting her somewhere to rent tomorrow?”

Sova watched silently, his own first venture through on his mind as he watched the senshi enter the mirror. Almost immediately, when Remarque spoke, Sova tilted his chin up with a sense of... Well it was unclear if it was pride at his own ingenuity, or simply respect, or both, but the teenager responded politely enough -- although, he also admir4ed the senior senshi greatly.

"Fortunately, my grandfather's reputation isn't exactly the best with my father and his siblings." Sova explained, before tilting his head towards the mirror. "It's easy enough to convince them she found out she's his ah. Unexpected daughter wioth someone he's had dalliances with." And at least his uncle Vincent would be kind enough to try helping.

"I can't arrange finances, but I can certainly handle a cover like that. Most of my relatives should be understanding that she'd be interested in the family she didn't know as a kid."

Most. He still figured he might get into squabbles with one uncle and a cousin or two but well... Nixholas, Ezekiel, and Zayne could shove it.
PostPosted: Sat Jul 23, 2022 9:00 am

Remarque nodded easily enough; a new cover, a new identity–those were more important than finances. Money could come from anywhere, but an identity–a history–could sometimes be harder. “Well, we’ll take care of all of that when she comes out. I’m grateful for any help you can give. A Mauvian can fabricate whatever identification she’ll need, but having someone to tie her to this new identity will make the whole thing easier. She should be out soon.”

He looked at the mirror that had swallowed her up; he’d never gone into it himself, it didn’t need him. He’d started as a Dark Mirror Senshi, so all he knew about the Black Mirror was that it was an expanse of darkness–a long, dark room, with a white light at the end. He’d had it described to him–that in the darkness, they followed a light. The gateway from that world, back into this one–a mirror.

He watched the surface of the mirror closely, waiting for it to ripple again. She’d step through soon enough, he knew that, but he couldn’t help but be a bit impatient. He wanted the reassurance that it worked.

He wanted to know that she was okay.

"Thank goodness for the old man's terrible choices, eh?" Sova chuckled. He wasn't always the most sporting of senshi -- he was social as necessary -- but he wasn't inhuman. And he was glad to help, he supposed. Besides, his uncle Vincent was still sulking over losing his cousin's father - however it happened - so maybe this was his own manipulative, underhanded, beastly way of helping the man... Move on? Heal? Well, it might help to have a sister again, at least -- and Sova had never met his aunt Maria.

...Thank everything his uncle wasn't powered, though. While he doubyted he'd compain - unlike Uncle Titus - he suspectyed making a Big Family Decision would see him scolded and Sova decided for once, he was glad none of his family was powered -- not like he wouldn't drag any senshi relations through the Mirror though. He just preferred his twin was the one seen favorably, and not himself. He loved his twin... And he'd kill for her.

"It'll probably do my uncle Vince soom good, at least." Sova admitted. He didn't elaborate, but he supposed he didn't need to. Instead he looked over when at last, there was movement at the Mirror; Elpis' foirm emerging, blinking a bit to adjust from pure darkness, with a bit of light, to a normal night again, yellow eyes taking in the area briefly to remind herself she was out again as her pupils briefly contracted, then dilated once more, the Eternal blinking before lookingh down slowly. Admittedly, she was curious. Elpis liked to experience new things deep down, but she wasn't pushing herself to rush -- she instead examined herselfr slowly, memorizing the changed methodically, carefully, and curiously before slowly looking up, fully lowering her arms before making a couple thoughtful faces, and then nodding.

"Huh. Neat." She wasn't quite sure what to say -- although 'neat' seemed right. It was!.... How did magic do that???

Remarque glanced up at her, looked her over, and then smiled. “There’s a good look. How do you feel?”

She was in one piece. Safe, from the Negaverse. In control of her memories, in control of her future.

They couldn’t bother her without earning his ire, now. He could keep her safe, no matter what the Negaverse wanted. Like this, she wasn’t an enemy. She was out of the way, safe to do her own thing. Safe to live her own life.

And, it sounded like Sova already had a good plan for getting her integrated into her new life.

Remarque could help with the rest; he could make sure she had what she needed to get started. The hardest part was done. She’d taken her first steps into her new life.

Elpis didn't answer right away. She looked herself over again, still fairly curious, before her mind began to tick. She was safe. She was safe and she couldn't be -- couldn't be pushed into the Negaverse's thrall as some corrupted senshi, absolutely mad and dangerous to those around her. Sure, she couldn't... See her family anymore, but then, she'd stopped seeing them already in the depressive state when she was half-aware of the world around her, just visiting to resupply and lose herself in another miserable like, where she had been loved but still unhappy. This was different.

She felt... She felt light for the first time in years. No dark future haunting her nightmares. No feeling of helplessness, no drive to patrol endlessly to defend against something that terrified her deep under the surface... No, Elpis could...

Elpis could fight for her own damn goals, and even make her own goals.

"I... Is it odd to say I feel better than I have in years? I mean -- I mean I'll have people in Order who'll ask what happened but." She sounded absolutely confident thewy wouldn't be angry she'd looked for safety, either. She knew how to manage powered relationships, and she absolutely planned to... Well, Elpis might actually enjoy not worrying too much about Order or the Negaverse for once. And she liked that! She liked... She actually looked happy.

"Huh." Sova hummed, surprised the Eternal, now that she was safe, actually looked happy. Cheerful[. Friendly! Well, friendlier. Was that how someone got stronger? He had no idea, he was aware he might be somewhat acerbic, but....

"Well if it helps, I think I can lie to my folks so you're not.... Isolated when you power down. I warn you, though, one of my uncles is a jackass who won't like it." Sova rolled his eyes, hard, and Elpis blinked, surprised.

"Thank.. Thank you." Oh! Oh she could... Have people? A... Oh.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 10, 2022 11:57 pm

Remarque felt the tension leave his shoulders. Whatever reservations or concerns he might have had faded. He was a bit reserved and wore his emotions close to his heart. He was more serious than not, but this warranted a smile.

“It’s not odd to feel better in the Court. You’re free. You’re safe. No other step will be as hard as this one. You’re in good hands, but let’s not test our luck. You’ve already had a long night. Let’s get you somewhere safe so you can rest. I can put you up in a hotel and make sure you’ve got everything you need. Tomorrow, we can get you everything you need for your new life.”

He didn’t know if Sova had a place she could stay, or if he’d want to stay with her for tonight, but Remarque was willing to foot the bill for whatever was going to make this easiest on all of them.

Elpis nodded, listening to Remarque with the attention of one accustomed ro learning -- taking in information before nodding.

"Yes please." She responded. She knew Order lacked centralized leadership - while she could round people up, somehow, as an Eternal there, she was attentive enough, even as distressed as she had been, to acknowledge the Dark Mirror Court operated differently, and, she needed to respect tat. But it wsn't hard, or forced. Remarque and Sova had still helped her, and she weas visibly grateful. A bit of her wondered if she was supposed to be in the Court, thouh -- from day one. Or t east since Super -- but the past couldn't cane nor woul she, bar maybe joining before her depression spiral, but she hadn't known it was an option. But for now, sleep sound4ed absolutely fantastic. She'd start worrying about things later.

Sova made a thoughtful noise, before tilting hiss head and motioning.

"I just need to get a bit of an E-mail to convince my folks, but I can fake that. Tere enouh free online E-mail services to pull a little trick. Not hard, buy time." He sighed, shaking his head. "It'll take a couple days, mostly, because one of my uncles is going to be a total jackass and there might be arguing. Might." Sova waved though. "We have phones, if you can trade contacts I can let you know when it's time to meet the family." Sova was still a teenager, and he absolutely knew if he didn't get home his sister would start calling. Incessantly. He loved his sister though, and for her, he was soft and thoughtful most, and Sova shrugged loosely. Tucana family dynamics needed to be worked at, and Sova knew manipulating this just right was critical.
