The night spent at Damian's had been…well? Almost close to perfect, honestly. It had helped Nelson to relax and…helped him remember that there were parts of him that were worth keeping around. The kiss that they had shared had…maybe been a little soon, but…there wasn’t…romance behind it…maybe. It was just…physical enjoyment and…he was allowed to have it, wasn’t he? Xander had been gone…for well over a year now…so why shouldn’t Nelson get kisses from someone. Someone who wasn’t going to leave him behind.
…Hopefully.
He was out again as Gismondine, gathering energy from a napping worker at a bus stop, taking advantage of the obvious exhaustion that already plagued them and taking enough that they would sleep very well tonight.
No starseeds were taken. He had still not sullied his hands with that…the idea of killing was…distasteful…and though he would do it if the need arose…
Gismondine hoped that it never would.
He finished his gathering and turned to walk into the park, slipping the energy into the safety of his subspace pocket, and freezing as he entered the wooded area of the park.
There was a Knight here, and for one sickening moment, he thought it was going to be Sylvite again. He couldn’t handle seeing that pink clad Knight again. It would destroy him, he knew but. But what could he do? Flee?
Not likely.
Quietly, Gismondine summoned his weapon to his hand and made his way closer, holding the dump thing out, hoping to look threatening. “I’m…I’m not afraid of you, Knight. Why don’t you come out and stop hiding.”

Lyonesse did not necessarily feel that he was hiding, though he was technically tucked behind a wall. Mostly, he was observing--thoughtfully watching the Captain standing out there. He recognized those weapons--once upon a time, General Natron had used them to great effect.
Now, of course, he had a sword with no blade, just some pretty flowers.
Still, he stepped out and around, leaning on it and raising his eyebrows.
"You sound very confident, Captain," he said, dryly, "but your grip on that kusarigama is all wrong. Honestly, has anyone taught you how to use it? Shameful."

Of all the responses Gismondine had expected, this wasn’t it, and he very nearly dropped the weapon in surprise. “I…Uh. I…”
Oh god. Shameful? Was it? Nobody he had spoken to knew how to use it or what it was so…how could that be shameful? He had tried. Anyone who saw him using it knew that he tried but.
“...Are…are you offering to teach me? N-nobody else seems to have any idea and I end up hurting myself more than anyone else when I try.”
He didn’t like the idea but. This Knight knew what his weapon was. Sounded like he knew how to hold it, what it was best used for. Shouldn’t..he take advantage of that? Wouldn’t that be the best use of his resources?
…Maybe.

Oh. Oh, no.
Oh, this poor b*****d.
"You know what," Lyonesse said, "yes, I am. Come here," he beckoned the Captain over. He looked, honestly, like he might burst into tears if he was pushed the wrong way, and after a moment, Lyonesse sighed softly.
"I used to be in the Negaverse. My name was General Natron, and I had a pair of these." He looked the Captian firmly in the face. "It's Lyonesse, now. Because I left." He waved a hand. "Anyway, it's kind of a bad showing if you're hurting yourself, or people you don't mean to hurt, so....yeah, I'll help you."
Ugh, he hated that he was such a softie for a pretty boy with big, sad eye.s Kerberos was going to laugh so hard, if he ever heard this story.

Gismondine paused and blinked, confused for a moment before he forced his expression to harden…slightly. “I…why…would I trust you? If…if you were once with us…why would you leave? “ He hesitated, and wanted to back away, wanted to just leave but…he moved a half step closer. “...teach me then. I guess. Teach me so that I can…can stop traitors like you from leaving. And…and be strong enough to bring them back.”
Like Sylvite. He could bring her back…even if she was happy. It didn’t matter. She belonged with him. With them. With all of them.
It wasn’t fair.
“...Teach me, General Natron.”
If he was a traitor…perhaps Gismondine could bring him back too.

"I left for a lot of reasons," Lyonesse said. "Mostly, I left because Chaos was turning me into someone I didn't want to be. Because under its influence, I harmed people I care about." That was enough detail. Lyonesse wasn't exactly given to spilling his life story just because a cute Captain asked.
He did, however, tap a finger against Gismondine's chest.
"Lyonesse." He corrected, flatly. "If you're going to threaten to use my knowledge against me someday, the least you can do is call me by the right name. General Natron is dead." Or he might as well be. Lyonesse would rather die than be that monster again.
"Now. Give me your hand. Step one is going to be correcting your grip; you're holding it all wrong."

Gismondine hesitated and shrugged. “...It won’t do well for me to admit that I’m spending time with a traitor. Wouldn’t it be best for the both of us if I just pretend that I have never met Lyonesse? Do they know that General Natron is gone? Or will it help to keep you safer?”
He didn’t know the answer, but…he didn’t want to admit…even to himself that he was talking to and working with a Knight. It made him uncomfortable, and still rather…afraid.
Letting out a very long sigh, he held his hand out towards the traitor. The knight. Lyonesse.
“...I’m sorry that you hurt those you cared about…I…how did…how did that happen?”

"I don't know," Lyonesse admitted. "There were people who knew me, but....many of them had plenty of reason to believe I was dead." He smiled, wryly. "Invoke General Natron and you might get people asking how you called up my ghost, actually."
He stepped forward, and lifted up Gismondine's arm, wrapping a hand around his to carefully guide his grip.
"It's a very long story. And involves some unique circumstances you aren't likely to encounter. Suffice to say, I recommend very strongly not screwing around in the Rift."

Gismondine pondered that, but said nothing and decided that he would simply avoid calling this Knight anything. “I…don’t make a habit of going to the R-rift…” He hadn’t been and honestly, he didn’t want to go. He knew about it…in theory but. That was more than enough for him.
The touch on his arm, on his wrist was…
Startling, to say the least, and for a moment, Gismondine’s whole body tensed before it seemed to dawn on him that no, he wasn’t being strangled and that maybe…possibly…this man was going to do just what he said. Perhaps there was honor in the White Moon after all.
…Somewhere, at least.
“I’m sorry that…you felt you had to die to get out. But if you’re unhappy with…with who you were. M-maybe don’t lead with that next time…”

"Good," Lyonesse said, and he set his sword aside, moving behind Gismondine and using his hands to gently adjust his stance, "don't. You can probably make good use of a personal youma, but the risks overall--just not worth it."
Airi had been a good companion, certainly, before everything. But if he were still a General, he didn't think he would be able to advise anyone in good conscience to go down there, ever.
"Anyway, would you have believed I knew what I was talking about if I hadn't told you how I know?"

Gismondine allowed the Knight to move him where he pleased, feeling more than a little stunned, but…also kind of enjoying the feeling of having someone close to him. It was nice.
Comfortable.
“I mean…I…I guess I wouldn’t have, no…but.” The Captain swallowed and gave a small shrug, relaxing finally, not much, but enough that he wasn’t actively straining his muscles with how tense he was. “...I don’t…don’t think I’d want a personal youma. if…I mean. I don’t…I don’t know. I’m not very good with animals…And it sounds like a lot of responsibility that I don’t..really have the desire for…could…could we do this again? With um. With you teaching me? You…you’re not...bad and you haven’t hurt me yet so.”
…So what? So he must be a safe bet?
…Maybe.

Lyonesse exhaled. This was stupid. He was stupid, getting himself tangled up with an officer. But it was what Kerberos would advise, wasn't it? Help the poor man until he found the courage to help himself, or whatever.
Maybe it would pay back a little of the debt Lyonesse owed the universe, for everything he had done as Natron.
"It is a lot of responsibility, which not everyone wants." He took a moment to reach up and gently squeeze Gismondine's shoulder. "And I'd be happy to keep teaching you. You're not gonna learn everything in one day."

Gismondine swallowed, his mouth going dry for a moment and then finally he nodded, giving a small, nervous smile. “...Then…N-next week? I can meet here…I’d like that very much.”
He wanted to get to know this Knight a little bit better too…and not only because of learning his weapon but…
The Captain swallowed hard and drew away, giving a small, half bow. “I…I have…um…I have to go now but…th-thank you at least I can hold it…um. Hold it better so…that’s…” He shuddered slightly and gave a half smile, before teleporting away, nearer to the safety of his home.
…Maybe…he wouldn't meet up next week but. Maybe…
Maybe he’d just wait until next week to find out.
