What a time to be alive. His boss was the Number One Criminal in the Negaverse, and now he was getting called to brand-new General King Jet's digs.
This, he figured, could lead to a few different outcomes: in one, they'd ask him if he knew something was up with Sylvite, or if she started acting strangely or whatever. In another, he and the others would be given the task of hunting her down so the Negaverse could make an example of her (because he heard what Jet had done during the battle on the hilltop, and maybe the Queen wanted an encore performance). In a third, they were the encore performance — the parties found guilty of high treason by association because they wanted to set an example. But he couldn't really picture Jet — serious and seriously high strung Jet — the 'nothin personal, kid' type.
Though Adonis had to admit, if Jet managed that? He wouldn't hold it against him for beheading Adonis with the rest of the team.
His little scenarios tucked aside for the time being, Adonis reached Jet's door and knocked succinctly. "S'Adonis," he announced, because he supposed that was either courtesy or expectation.
It was fine, he could play the bend-the-knee game, shine up Jet's rings for him, polish his proverbial shoes, whatever. Really, Adonis was most interested in where this was going to go, and what was going on with the rest of Sylvite's estranged team.
Mystery solved if they were all lined up to get beheaded.

“Come in,” Jet called when he heard Adonis at the door. His office, clad in teals and purples and various new pieces of furniture and artwork (thanks to Aquamarine’s personal touches), was maybe more inviting than a General King’s office should be. He didn’t do the decorating though, and only knew what Axinite’s office looked like. Well, and the Queen’s, but hers looked more like it was used as a research lab than an actual office.
“Take a seat if you want. Or stand, I don’t care,” he said when the Super Senshi entered. He looked him over for a few moments, trying to determine how he was feeling by his body language. Jet’s desk was mostly empty, except for a stack of old scrolls, and a box of cookies -- Axinite’s doing, of course.
“Help yourself,” he gestured, and that was about all he could tolerate of his own small talk.
“I’m sorry about Sylvite. How are you holding up? Is anyone giving you any grief?”

Adonis knew Jet was the newest General King on their roster, and he knew that he hadn't really had any dealings with the dude. He looked young, just like basically everyone else, but his aura said <******** with me and they'll bury you in pieces, so he tucked away his false bravado when he crossed the threshold.
"Gee-kay Jet, good to meet you," he said with a lax hail. He approached and took stock of the room while he kept his mouth mostly shut. It was a nice place, kinda reminded him of a model room than an actual office, all coordinated to match Jet's fancy-looking outfit. Kinda like his mom came in, pinched his cheek, and rehab'd the place to look like Jet belonged in precisely that spot. Or somebody did, anyway.
Happy to be as lazy as possible, Adonis pulled up one of Jet's matching chairs and sat himself down. He did, however, expend marginally more effort by not slouching.
"Yeah, that sure was an experience that we had, yep." Adonis popped his p, then flattened his mouth into a line. "Couldn't even do us the decency of saying 'heads up, I'm about to do some treacherous nonsense' before she just vanished on us." Now she was floating around as a damn Knight, trying to play righteous with no memory to burden her.
"But I'm good, thanks for asking. Been at this alone for too many years to get all broken up over losing a superior.
"Nobody's said anything to me about it, at least not to my face. Dunno about the others, though — didn't get to know them too much before Sylvie up and split on us. Damn shame, too; she had a couple good eggs on her roster." Gizmondine was the nicest little b*****d that ever rotted Adonis's teeth out of his skull, and Fulgurite seemed like a chill dude.
Now they were all. Well. Floaters, he guessed.

“I met one of them, crying in her office,” Jet said in response to Adonis mentioning good eggs. “Seemed really shaken up. Gizmondine, I believe? Said he met her. She goes by Nectaris now, apparently. Wears pink still,” he explained, thinking that Adonis had the right to know the identity of someone who betrayed him, if he didn’t already know.
“Gizmondine has been reassigned to General Ashanite, so I believe he’s in good hands. But what about you? You’re experienced enough to have your own subordinates, I think,” Jet said thoughtfully as he continued to observe the Senshi across from him.
There weren’t many Senshi that Jet could say he’d trust to stick around. There were too many who proved to be traitors once they earned their wings, but Adonis probably deserved someone who was loyal and could look out for him, at least until he was able to fully take responsibilities of his own.
“Have you met Kamacite before? Awkward, quiet young man. Seems like he’ll cry if you look at him the wrong way. He’s an Eternal Senshi, but I don’t think he has any subordinates. He’s helped lead missions before, so I know he’s capable when it comes down to it. Would you be up for seeing if he’d be a good fit for you? Worst case, we can find someone else, or you’d probably be left alone,” he shrugged.
He had no idea how Kamacite was going to handle a subordinate, but he’d been slacking in getting any assigned to him, in Jet’s opinion.

Damn. Gismo was crying. Made sense, though — he was such a nice kid. Good egg, like he said. Maybe he'd get to be the one to stab Nectaris in the face for all she's done.
"Yyyyyep," and Adonis popped his p as he felt all that strain for wanting to say some frankly terrible things about Nectaris. All deserved, he was certain, but this was Jet's office and Jet's rules and he already experienced what happened when he didn't play by the rules in normal people life; he didn't want to know what happened when he mouthed off about someone and Jet didn't take a shine to it.
And — hell, that whole 'subordinates' thing. Instant punishment, right there, for thinking bad thoughts.
Adonis hummed as he scratched behind his ear. "Yeah, guess it's been a minute." Almost ten years. Eight, going on nine, if he remembered right. And there was no good way to tell Jet that subordinates weren't his scene. "Probably could, yeah, but think of all those up-n-coming ambitious types who would kill for a chance to prove themselves. Like Danalite? Totally ready for subordinates."
But, Kamacite? In all that time he spent being a part of this organization, he'd never happened across that name before. But if the dude was that quiet and that awkward, Adonis expected he didn't make it out much to any of the Negaverse-approved social functions. Probably stayed holed up in his office whenever possible — or that's what Adonis would do if he couldn't talk to people like a normal human could.
"Nah, never met him. If we get along, great, if he leaves me be, great. I fended for myself before, for a few years, actually. Won't hurt me any to do it again, promise." Adonis drew a little x over his starseed.
"What kinda missions has he been on? Probably help to know his sphere, too."

“Solar flares,” Jet shared, because while he thought Kamacite might be better to tell Adonis himself, he doubted that the quiet Senshi would bother sharing anything about himself unless under duress.
“Blinding flash of light. No one can really avoid it, so he was sent in first when we teamed up with the Velencians at the hilltop. He knows more about the Rift than I do. Was made to go into it with his General, apparently. He was the only Senshi of thirteen that were chosen by the Queen to help prepare for the Velencians. Friendly with General Faustite and General King Axinite.”
While Kamacite was likely in the same boat of reluctance for subordinates as Adonis, there was a lot of talent going to waste if all Kamacite did was come out to be a wild card in missions.
“Other than that, I don’t know him very well. But he’s unlikely to betray us.”

Solar flares. Fancy. Sounded fancy, too, what with that magic. Must've made good use of it if they sent him up on that mission. What a doozy it was, complete with a space opera in the middle! Really, Adonis couldn't have asked for more. Well, aside from a new job, but unless someone was gonna get bumped off in that mission, and their position in some company offered to him specifically, Adonis doubted he'd get that much good out of it.
And nobody had come along asking if he, Adrian Frost, had the time to devote to being the CEO of MoneyMaker, Inc.
Well, even if this dude had the personality of a wet blanket, he sounded like he'd been around the block a few times. Might even have some good connections for bailing him out of the construction industry. Whatever the case, Adonis could stay positive about this little change. Couldn't be any worse than floating around on his own, right?
"Alright, BossMan, your word's my command, n' all that. I can try him out, see how we mesh. Who knows, maybe I'll pull him outta his shell a bit." Adonis shrugged with ease.

“I think it would be good for him,” Jet agreed. Anyone getting Kamacite to get out of his shell was a good thing, rather than just letting him hide in Axinite’s office all the time.
“Sorry again about Sylvite. I thought I could count on her as a friend. She said she wanted to be a friend, but I suppose that was a lie. I don’t know what suddenly made her decide to abandon something she’d worked hard for, or abandon those she supposedly cared about, but I hope it was worth it.”
Because Jet had every intention of presenting her starseed to the Queen if he could get his hands on it.
“Let me know if you need anything, or if it doesn’t work out with Kamacite.”
