Breedings
Love is in the air... or at least a bit of mischief! Expanding family lines is part of the fun of Mythikos, and we're excited to roll out Breeding Slots! Here you should find all the relevant information you need to know when it comes to growing and expanding family lines.
Lore & IC Breeding Information
The Chimereid Isles are a magical place and it's generally up to the players whether or not they want their new bundles of joy to have been created "naturally" or through magic. Generally speaking, to have a natural breeding, the species should be the same species and the opposite sex. For same-sex couples, or individuals who are different species, this is when magic comes into play. The energy between multiple parties can be enough to create life -- sometimes it's literally a granted wish from the gods or the stars, while other times it's a mutual passion or feeling that creates a new form! Locals like to talk about the mischievous and meddling spirits who can grant all sorts of surprises! Children created through magic or by meddling spirits are no different then those created naturally. In fact, some species rely fully on magic to keep their lineage alive, such as Harpies, where males are incredibly rare.
Those who do have children via magic, they usually simply wake up to the little ones playing or sleeping next to them or near by. In other cases, they might stumble upon the young that look extraordinarily like them!
Additionally, surrogacy is allowed so long as all players are on board. The choice is yours as a writer how you'd like to explain your future brood!
As a writer, it's up to you to decide how or why your characters have children, and how to raise them -- but OOCly, it's something you as the player must agree to by signing up for the raffles or contests, as well as creating breeding agreements for your characters!
Types of Breedings
There are a few types of breedings allowed in Mythikos!
Rogue Breedings: Rogue breedings take place with a single pet. Rogue breedings allow for one guaranteed offspring, with a small (5%) chance for an extra child. Rogue breedings will match the entered-pets breed unless a God or Demi-God.
Note: Gods will only throw Demi-God offspring in a rogue breeding. Demi-Gods will only throw Blessed Standard Offspring.
Couple Breedings: Couple breedings are breedings between two characters. If the characters aren't self-owned, then a Breeding Agreement is needed before they can be entered. Couple breedings guarantee two offspring, with a small (5%) chance for an extra child.
Poly Breedings: Poly breedings are breedings between three or more characters. If the characters aren't self-owned, then a Breeding Agreement is needed before they can be entered. Poly breedings guarantee two offspring, with a small (5%) chance for an extra child.
Unfortunately, only a maximum of two players in the poly-group will be allowed the right for offspring during that particular breeding raffle win, so all members must be on board and work out who is eligible for the resulting offspring before the pets are entered. It will be assumed that the individual who enters the ticket and wins the raffle will be granted one. The extra offspring will need to be decided by the group.
God Breedings: God breedings are opened rarely and are only for Gods. Only players who own Gods can enter God Breeding Raffles. God Breedings have a minimum of 2 offspring with a small (5%) chance of an additional child. God Breedings must be a Couple or Poly Breeding Slot and their offspring will be Gods. Uta and Cheri will decide on the domains based on the parents and announce the domains once the offspring are dropped.
Given they are all uniquely made pets, there is a max cap of 4 offspring in God x God breedings!
Gods can breed with other Gods and their offspring will be guaranteed to be a god. Uta/Cheri will decide the final domains -- not every artist will be allowed to create or breed gods.
Gods can breed with demi-gods and their offspring will be guaranteed to be demi-gods with a small chance for gods. Uta/Cheri will decide the final domains for the gods.
Gods can breed with mortals and their offspring will be guaranteed to be demi-gods.
Demi-gods can breed with a god and their offspring will be guaranteed to be demi-gods with a small chance for gods. Uta/Cheri will decide the final domains for the gods.
Demi-gods can breed with demi-gods and their offspring will be guaranteed to be demi-gods.
Demi-gods can breed with mortals and their offspring will inherit one of the following per players choice: Blessing of Physical Strength, Blessing of Physical Speed, Blessing of Regeneration, Blessing of Foresight, Blessing of Hindsight. This is a single ability. Where Demi-Gods have all five abilities, impure Demi-God offspring will only inherit one.
Breeding Crystals & Completed RP Perks
Every breeding in Mythikos has a set amount of offspring. Usually it's 1 to 2 kids, depending on the type of breeding. There is a 5% chance for an extra kid. To up those chances, players can use RP points or Titles obtained through XP. Players can also include a completed RP to further up the chances!
If you equip a specific Crystal or a Title, and are rolled, then you will get a larger chance for additional children. In some cases, an extra child is guaranteed!
Equipping Crystals can change the outcome of a breeding. In some cases you could get an extra offspring; in others, you could get a blessing/curse, or throwback/surprise traits and colors.
Additionally, equipping 5 completed RPs that stars your character and their breeding partner(s) (if applicable) will grant you an additional offspring. Rogue Breedings would require it to star only the player's character; Couple Breedings & Poly-Breedings require it to star all those in the group. This is an extra breeding offspring on top of any Crystals or Title purchased!
Each RP should be at minimum 1000 words, but it should be completed/finalized. Once you win a breeding using the RPs, new RPs will be required for additional offspring.
You may only use this once per breeding and you may not stack additional RPs. For example, you couldn't do ten for two bonus kids. Please have mercy on our souls! Rogue Breedings would require the RPs to star only the player character; Couple Breedings & Poly-Breedings are required to star characters. If you have a poly group or couple with an inactive player, the RPs should star the active player(s). We don't want to penalize people for inactivity in RP breeding bonuses.
Offspring Caps
There should be a cap of 6 Offspring per Breeding for Couple/Poly Groups max! No matter the amount of titles, crystals, or other bonuses.
There is a cap of 5 Offspring per Breeding for Rogue breedings!
There is a cap of 4 Offspring for God x God Breedings!
OOC Rules
You must create Breeding Agreements before you enter raffles. There are some rules about what can and cannot be included in the agreement, but generally speaking it shows that all parties are okay with their characters being included in a raffle!
Rogue breedings don't require agreements! However, if you've already made an agreement with that pet, you will need to break the agreement before you enter as a rogue!
Self-Pairs don't require agreements unless making them Fated Mates -- then you will need to make sure you create one.
Fated Mates are the only type of breeding that can be granted a Spirit's Blessing. ICly, obviously, any breeding could wind up being blessed or favored by a god/spirit, etc -- however, OOCly, it's a specific Fated Mate perk. This does not guarantee to show on the final offspring -- however, it is a colorist's prerogative.
You must fill out the form in its entirety.
Uncerts are not required but useful.
You may edit your post until closing.
Staff will notify you if something seems amiss in your entry upon winning. This could result in disqualification or re-rolling the slot if your form isn't set up correctly!
If a mistake happens while running a raffle, and someone's couple or name doesn't wind up on the list, please be understanding! You may let staff know there was an issue with the list but don't expect a re-roll or an auto-win because of human error. We're only human and are doing the best we can!
Titles, RP Crystals, and RPs must be equipped by the time the raffle closes. If you forget, that's too bad. Remember, some enhancements may not guarantee anything -- they may simply grant higher chances. Titles and Crystals must be owned by the person entering the ticket!
Breeding Count
Here is the order in which breeding offspring numbers will be decided!
Title -- Any equipped Title might guarantee a child or give a chance for one. this will max at 100% or be guaranteed.
Crystals/Percentages -- Any equipped Crystal that changes breeding count will be overwrite the base 5% chance to an additional Breeding Offspring. This will max at 100%, even if the count goes over. If there is no Crystal or the Crystal does not effect breeding count, then a standard 5% chance of another offspring is rolled.
Fated Mate Status -- This is a special status. As the percentage goes up each year the FM's remain together, colorists will roll against this to see if an additional child is procured separate from XP. If their percentage is 100%, an additional breeding pet will be guaranteed.
RPs -- If you equip 5 completed RPs between the individuals entering the raffle, they will be guaranteed an additional offspring.
