Saeruin's heart was so full. She got to spend some special quality time with her daughter who was obviously hers as they shared the same crystal pattern. She adored both of her daughters but where Kechiri had gravitated toward her dad (his little carbon copy), her own little copy had gravitated to her. Gah, she was just so happy. This was what she always wanted, to have a huge untouchable family.

"Do you want to get shoes? Do you think we can convince your wild sister to wear some if they are super cute?" Elaxi was super sweet.

In order to get to the shoe stand, they had to pass by a somewhat shady alleyway. Sae thought nothing of it. They had come to a bigger village to shop, but she assumed it was just as safe as their home village. A shadow lurked there that she did not see. She had not brought any critters with her as protection, thinking them uneeded. Besides she had taken Malibu on a long ride yesterday and the snaptrotter had needed a good rest.

Striking unexpectedly she was dragged into the alley a hand over her mouth, a greasy whisper in her ear, "Don't fight and your daughter will be unharmed."

She couldn't believe this was happening, she prayed it was a dream. She struggled, biting the hand that held her. "Run Elaxi!" She screached. She had just about escaped by stepping on the mans foot when something repeatedly thumped into her side. She thought it was just punches, her whole concern focused on her daughter. "GO! GO TO DADDY!" She hoped the man would think her husband not far behind, she hoped her yelling would bring others. But today was not a busy day. And the stall was still far away.

Sae felt a wetness on her clothing. Strange. She looked down as much as the males grip on her hair would let her....blood. He hadn't been punching her he had stabbed her. Good gods this was the worst day ever and she had already been through enough.

Flashes from the night she had lost her parents came back to her then, smacking into her forebrain from where they had been burried in the back for way too long.

The bandits had been mobbing her Father, her Mother had told her to run, just as she had told Elaxi, then her Mother had screached out her war cry and gone to save her Dad. Except that she hadn't. Sae had run all the way home and lay shivering, waiting for her parents to come back. They handn't.

Her throat strangling a little, tears streaming down her face at the past and present, unable to think of a future of her children without her or her without her children, something let loose in Sae. She fought harder than she ever had. Even wounded the muscles and ferality she had gained at the forge taming metal and fire, wandering the woods with her husband. He would never forgive her if something happened to Elaxi.

"Don't hesitate just go." She rammed her head back against the brutes nose. He swore. Deciding that the daughter might be an easier mark he cracked Sae over the head. She could see him reaching for Elaxi but she was now in great pain fighting the blackness that tried to swallow her whole.

The b**d had her daughter! No! Her head was still swimming but she felt the warmth of her daughter against her, she tried to comfort her as much as she could with one of her arms that wasn't trying to gouge out their assailant's eyes.

"Fight Elaxi." She gasped, trying her hardest to do the same but the man punched her in the side with the wounds and suddenly the pain flooded her and she gasped and doubled over. He tossed her aside and held fast to her daughter.

She crumpled and rolled. Trying to get up as fast as she could. But the pain made her limbs want to curl up like a dead bug, they wouldn't work right. She gurgle/snarled and righted herself. "I won't let you do this, I won't let you take her. I'll kill you for this."

The man had started to back away from the demented bleeding lady who just wouldn't quit. He must not have stuck her in the right places. This was a lot of trouble for a little girl. But this one was very pretty, like her Mom. Should sell high to the right people if he could swing her as an orphan with a steep adoption fee. A hybrid as her Mom was. "Pretty girl, got her Mama's look huh?"

Sae snarled and lunged but she was slowly starting to weaken from pain and blood loss. She stumbled forward, not bothering to talk just reaching out to strangle him. How dare he touch her! She wished fervently that she was one of those people who could call lightning down and barbeque him where he stood.

He was taking her! Getting further and further. "I'll come for you Elaxi, keep fighting, keep trying to get away. I will never leave you!" She dragged her broken self after her daughter, biting her lip until it bled against the pain.

Eventually she started to realize she needed help. She needed Ushi. Her daughter was slipping away from her and she screamed as loud as she could. Which wasn't that loud because breathing hurt pretty bad not to mention moving. She had her hand pressed to her side trying to stem the bleeding. she would have to rip her clothes and wad and tie or she would not be making it far out of this alley.

"We will come for you! I LOVE YOU!" She yelled.

"You will never find her, demon." Her would be murderer said. Sae would see that he died a slow awful death.

Sae gasped. Her daughter was right, her eyes streamed with fresh tears and heart shattered she padded her wound and straight up stole a beast to ride back. Today would haunt her forever...if she survived it. She had to survive it. She would not leave her daughters without a mother like she had been. Those memories all the ones repressed, nearly her whole childhood had come back to her. She remembered everything. But she only cared about what she had just lost.

She drooped in the saddle, only looking when there was a fork in the path.

People asked if she was okay and she ignored them and rode on. She needed Ushi, she needed her husband.
