Mossy had many feelings for a feeling harpy such as she. There was a new girl. A new, younger girl. One who spoke with many words that Mossy hadn't heard of before, and who wasn't part of her family. It was kinda weird, and it was kinda uncomfy. But mom and dad and the cat got mad when Mossy brought it up, so she'd stopped. Now she just kinda quietly tolerated it.

It probably wouldn't take altogether -that- long to accept this new one as part of their flock, but for now at least, Mossy didn't particularly care for her.

That's how she found herself crouched on a tree branch just outside of Breeheart, watching her most favorite of cookie stores (the one that made animal cookies with silly noises, of course). She'd been popping by more frequently for cookies to cheer herself up. Cookies always had that effect. Yay for cookies.

Irish Night Fox
Bree stepped out the door to wave at a pair as they headed out of the bakery door. The smell of fresh baked goods filled the air, a gentle breeze carrying conversations about. It was an incredible day in Breeheart.

The tables were set and mostly filled by Pae of all types. Others busied themselves by bringing dishes and treats to patrons, the feeling of relaxed business settling over all of them. It was almost too good to be true in Bree’s eyes.

She set a package of Tiger’s freshly baked cookies on the display outside. Only on the nicest of days did she allow such a thing. The scent always seemed to lure someone inside, but she hated compromising the goods this way at the same time.

She hurried back inside for a second to grab some more for the display, unaware of an onlooker.

And then there were cookies - oh how Mossy loved them so! But she'd learned via many, many scoldings that she wasn't to just take them. That was stealing, and stealing was bad. Good little birds traded for their cookies, and Mossy was the goodest little bird.

She reached down to a small satchel clasped to her lower back (it was a fanny pack, but she wouldn't know) to bring out some boar jerky. Yummy. She'd been leaving jerky on the windowsill recently as she took cookies - again, she was a good bird.

With a "hyup!" she jumped down from the tree branch and glided down to the windowsill to place down a piece of jerky and pick up a cookie .

Irish Night Fox
Bree stepped out with a wooden platter of pastries as soon as Mossy set the piece of jerky down on the windowsill. She grinned brightly at the harpy, trying to keep from laughing. So thats where all the window jerky was coming from!

“Hello!” She greeted her gently. “Thank you for the food.” She couldn’t remember right off the top of her head what it was called. Cocoa had gone through all of that with their feathered neighbors. She supposed this one must have been a part of the group. “Do you like those?”

Bree eyed the one she had and noted it was a large cat. Oh, she’d get a good shock from that one.

Mossy was practically humming to herself - or may have actually, literally been doing so - as she picked up her cookie and turned to look over at the other pae. Oh! Mossy knew this one! She'd met once, maybe twice, during the great bucket liberation of years past. Or maybe Mossy met someone who looked kinda like her - who knew? She didn't. Either way, Bree seemed nice enough with a nice voice.

"Hello!" She trilled back, cookie in hand. She then pointed at the jerky, then back at the cookie with a grin. "Yes! They are so yummy - so I bring jerky and trade! This is boar from the smokehouse. It's also tasty, but not sweet. Do you like boar?" Wait, if she didn't like it, would Mossy have to give the cookie back? That'd be sad.

Irish Night Fox
"I am glad to hear it!" Bree beamed at the sweet one. She wasn't actually sure on the different flavors, but they seemed so proud of it she just smiled and nodded. "We are happy to take anything you all make. You are very good at it."

She picked up the piece and paused a second, "May I give you a gift?" she asked. She held a hand to ask her to wait a second, heading back inside. It took a second, but soon she returned with a little bundle. She shook it gently and you could hear the sound of soft cookies hitting each other, "We enjoy it so much we'd like you to have this." It was always good to keep your trade partners happy, right? Or maybe Bree just couldn't help herself in spoiling adorable little ones (even though she was def not very little).

The smile that had slightly faced from Mossy's face as she asked about Bree's preferences returned tenfold when it was discovered that, yes, she did like the jerky! Yayyy! She'd have to get even better at making it so she could keep getting tastier and tastier cookies, even if these were already the tastiest of all. Unlike her mom, she didn't sneeze in the smoking hut (she only got bored), so there were no problems there.

Cookies would be quite the perfect motivator.

Mossy tilted her head as Bree went inside and, in the meantime, bit off the head of the cat cookie (she always went for the heads first). Delicious. So delicious she practically purred... or was she actually purring? When Bree returned with a whole bag of cookies, Mossy mewed in delight, her eyes sparkling. Oh, today was the bestest day ever! She'd have to go share some with Iva and Rosamin and Lily and Lavender and Ruzha! But not the new girl. She didn't deserve cookies. And the (older) adults didn't seem to understand the wonder that was these culinary confections, so none for them either.

"Mrrrrrowr~!" She tried to thank bree, but only a cat's meow came out. Following a pause, Mossy's cheeks reddened as she began laughing wholeheartedly.

Irish Night Fox
Bree was just beside herself with how sweet this 'little one' was. It was so simple to make her smile! She wondered if Cocoa had gotten to talk to this one much, maybe it would do her some good to be around such positivity.

Bree laughed heartily at the other one and ruffled her hair playfully, "You're welcome." she smiled sweetly at her mews. "Is there any other treats your family likes?" she asked. "I just baked a bunch of stuff so if you'd like to take anything back to them I am happy to provide. We have so been enjoying what you all bring us I'd love to say thank you for all your hard work in a way." she stepped back and opened the door for her, welcoming her inside in order to choose.

There was nothing humble about the inside of their bakery. Wood pedestals lined the room with delicacies galore. Just as Bree had said, they were piled high with treats in all shapes and sizes. There was linen bags at the front for patrons to grab and stuff full of sugar.

Mossy closed her eyes as her hair was ruffled before glancing back up. When she opened her eyes, she tilted her head and perked back up. Other treats!?! "Meowwwwfins!" she responded with the enthusiasm and auditory finesse of a 3 year old, but paused when the door was opened and she was silently invited inside. She blinked, looking to the door, then to Bree, then back to the door, then back to Bree, then again to the door, then she took a few steps. ... and then she looked at Bree again as if to confirm that it was actually okay to go in.

She'd never been inside a village home before - they had their makeshift one, but it was very different. They could fly in and out of that one, and it smelled of smoke and dirt and moss. This one smelled of cookies and sweets.

After heasitantly walking in, she proceeded to block the door as she gamed at the almost-overwhelming sensory display before her - so many colors and treats and just... YUM!

Irish Night Fox
Bree chuckled at the sounds the other was making. It always warmed her heart to know others loved her family's work. This one was especially outspoken about it. She was even more amused at the other's reaction at being invited inside. She supposed she'd never had a chance to come in.

"Its alright." she reassured. "Its safe." She wasn't sure about the other's hesitation, but she'd make sure she knew this was exactly where a sweet fan such as herself needed to be. Once she seemed settled a bit, Bree walked over to grab a small sack and held it out for the other, "You put whatever you want into this. Just make sure you can carry everything home."

Daisicle
Mossy looked over at Bree and nodded with an innocent excitement quite uncharacteristic for a grown-a** adult as she received the bag. Now she had two! And where one was full of cookies, this one was sure to be quickly filled too. After all, Mossy was quite the strong flier. She'd have no problem getting home

With -just- a minimal amount of restraint, she quickly filled the sack with treats.

She looked back at Bree with a sparkle in her eyes once finished, only exclaiming, "Thanks!!" after making eye contact.

Irish Night Fox
If Bree had the chance, she’d probably squish the heck out of Mossy. Her pure joy and excitement over Bree’s passion made her beam in pride. There was nothing better than feeling like she was fulfilling her purpose. Also helped she was just so freaking cute.

“Wow! That looks like an amazing haul!” She complimented, clapping for her softly. “You’re so welcome. Thank you for the food. Can you handle getting all that home?” She asked as she walked Mossy back to the door.

Daisicle
Mossy may have puffed her chest a little out in pride as Bree showered her in compliments - while there were some who may have felt embarrassed or patronized by such a thing, she was not one of those pae. She nodded her head confidently and would have offered a thumbs up if her hands weren't full of dessert, and instead simply replied back, "No problems! I fly stong, thanks to meat and cookies!"

Once at the door, she rotated her entire torso in an attempt to wave with full arms and offered another heartfelt, "Thanks!!" Before flapping her wings twice and taking off for home.

Oh boy, weren't the young ones gonna be excited!

Except the new girl - no cookies for her.

Irish Night Fox
Bree grinned at the other’s declaration, “I believe it!” She then opened the door for the other since her hands were full. “You are so welcome.” she smiled sweetly, already sad to see such a joyous Pae leave, but hoping she’d be back soon. “Be safe getting back and don’t hesitate to let us know if you and your family needs anything.”

She waved as the other took to the air, despite knowing she’d be unable to return it. Sure enough, it didn’t take the other much to fly off with her treasures.

It was a perfect moment in Bree’s day, that was for sure.
