"Oh, it's you," whispered Nectaris when she came across the Captain, her eyes going wide in that sparkly, excited kind of way. Clearly she'd freaked him out last time. She wanted a chance to make things right, and she also just see him.
He'd recognized her. The more she thought about it, the more she knew he had to have recognized her, and that had Nectaris curious. What did he know? Why had she made him cry?
When she'd first been tracking the aura, she'd had her staff out, held in front of her protectively just in case. Mostly she'd been running into people who weren't trying to hurt here, but she'd also been talking to Encke and the others enough that she'd heard horror stories, and she wanted to be ready.
Right now, though, she dropped the staff and kicked it behind her, not wanting to be threatening.
"I was gonna ask, did you used to know me?"

Gismondine hadn’t wanted to meet with her again. He…well, that wasn’t completely true. He had...but he wasn’t ready to. Not now…honestly, not ever most likely. But…here was Nectaris, and there she was shoving her weapon away to make him feel more secure, and the Captain felt as though his heart were breaking all over again.
Quietly, he opened his mouth to say something. Anything, and then closed it again.
But, finally, after what felt like a hundred years, he was able to nod. “...You…y-you were my General. Sylvite…you…you left me. You promised…you promised you wouldn't l-leave me. My first General…she…she did the same.”
His hands curled into fists and his eyes were burning with tears…but that was nothing new. Though the look he gave Nectaris, the look he gave her, the absolute horrible betrayed look…
That was new.
“...You…you didn’t even s-say goodbye…”

Nectaris wasn't really a patient person. She really wasn't a quiet person, and the seconds of this dude staring at her and starting to cry again were really starting to drag on and on. She had to bite her lip to keep from blurting something out, because he looked like a scared bunny rabbit and she didn't want to say the wrong thing again and end up scaring him off. Then he said it. He said she'd used to be his boss. He was also shooting her a look that made her chest feel all cold. No, she didn't really remember him, but she didn't want to turn someone into a sobbing mess, just by saying hi. She didn't want to have abandoned someone. "Hey," she said when she'd finished, in a voice that was soft for her. "I thought that might be it. I met some other people who were on, uh, my team, I guess." That seemed like a lot of words, though, considering how much he was crying, so she tried again. "I'm right here," she said. "I'm sorry I left so fast, and you didn't see me for a while. It was a really bad thing that happened, but, I'm here."

“Fulgurite, I bet…he…he and I talked about you…” He reached up, wiping at his face, roughly pushing the tears out of his eyes. “...I…I would have come with you…if you…if you had asked. Or…or told me. I…I can’t…understand why…” He swallowed.
“You left us…” Gismondine swallowed, and his weapon appeared in his curled fist, much to his surprise. It…hadn’t been what he was going for, though…it helped him look intimidating, he supposed.
So, Gismo held it out, scowling and trying to look more intimidating than he felt. More intimidating than he knew he was.
Still. When you put a knife in the hands of a marshmallow…there wasn’t much harm that could really be done.
“I don’t…I don’t care if…if you think that something wasn’t right…you…you had a d-duty, Sylvite…” And she had failed that duty. Given up those she was nurturing. Protecting. Guiding…for some…some stranger.

This was one of those times when it probably would've helped to have her memories, so that she could have maybe given him a better explanation for why some Princess getting tortured was enough to send her over the edge when she'd turned a blind eye to enough other stuff to get all the way to being a successful General with a team and everything. Like, she'd corrupted someone. She didn't have the memories, though. She didn't have an answer. All she could do was kinda stand there, blinking sadly, while each word made it feel like he was twisting the knife. He was also summoning some literal weapon, although she wasn't too scared that he was gonna try using it. "Hey, can I treat you to a drink or something?" she asked. "To, like, help you calm down? Then we can talk about stuff, talk about my duty to you and my promise and all that." He'd just said that he might have gone with her. Maybe they could go from there? She glanced at his tiny sickle. "Or, uh, are you over all that and just after the price on my head?"

Gismondine looked down at his weapon, staring at it, thinking about just digging it into her shoulder. Her neck. Her chest. It would be better to have her dead than…than this. Wouldn’t it? It…
When the thoughts really caught up to his brain, the Captain felt himself grow dizzy, confused.
…That…wasn’t a thought he…
Quietly, he took a step backwards, banishing the weapon once again and shaking his head. “...No…n-no thank you. You and I…we can’t be friends. You…are a t-traitor. You…I don’t…I d-don’t think that there’s a price on your…on your head but…I…I’ll l-let you go this one time…but if…”
He closed his eyes, drawing in a breath, trying to force back the desire to just grab her starseed. The desire to just bring her back.
“...If I see…see you again I will k-kill you. Or…or I will…I will make sure you come back. That…that is a promise.”

It shouldn't really have hurt Nectaris's feelings that some stranger didn't want to be friends with her, and, like, it made sense that some of the people who she'd worked with were gonna view what had happened as a betrayal. It shouldn't. She hated it anyway. Like, she hated it so much that she was probably gonna go cry to Encke later about how much she hadn't meant to betray any people, just because she'd been trying to leave a messed up organization. At least, she didn't think that was what she would've been going for. For now, she took a deep breath and nodded. "I don't think the Negaverse wants me back," she said with a sad little giggle. "Kinda had to leave so I didn't get executed, that's why it was rushed, probably why I couldn't say goodbye. Uh," There was a slight pause, mostly because she wasn't quite sure how to end a conversation where someone was threatening to kill you next time you met. "So, until next time, I guess," she said in the end, awkwardly wiggling her fingers. "Or not? Hopefully not, but I feel like the city's not that big, is it?" She kinda did hope she ran into him again, even if he tried fighting her. Maybe she could get him to talk more. It still seemed like there was something else going on in his head, something that was making him freak out so much more than the others.

Gismondine just shook his head, feeling sick. He hadn’t been ready for this. Hadn’t wanted…hadn’t.
Quietly he drew the bear he had rescued from Sylvite’s office, the bear he had rescued to give to Nectaris the next time he saw her, and threw it at the Knight without another word.
There were so many things that he wanted to say. So many things that he had to say…but.
Instead, he simply turned on his heel and teleported.
