Talia had slept…rather fantastically, all things considered, and she was feeling more than a little refreshed when she made her way to the kitchen where Evan was cooking and sat at the table after pulling out a juice box to sip on. For a few moments she didn’t say much, sipping the apple juice in silence, and finally, she gave a soft sigh. “Hey. Evan? What do you know about Monoceros? Zac said that your or Malcolm would know more than he would. But. He was…a part of our court, Zac said?”
She hesitated, taking another pull until the small cardboard container seemed to shrink as it collapsed in on itself.
“...He’s corrupted now. And I think something’s wrong with him. I’m going to kidnap him and take him up to my homeworld and sneak Ilse with me, but…I just want to have some background on him, if you have any information you’d be willing to share?”
Truthfully, Talia doubted it was any kind of a secret but…still. If she was going to do this, and do this right…she needed something to go off of. And. This was simply the start.

Evan blinked when she asked; though they’d talked a bit since she came out, he seemed to have temporarily zoned out and startled himself when she spoke again. It was early and it was clear that he was still waking up.
“Monoceros? Yeah…He was a part of our Court. I met him a long time ago. He was out on his own and–you know how I feel about that, it’s so dangerous. We talked, sort of about how he wanted to save youma? And I mean. You know how I feel about that, too. So we got to talking, and I mentioned the Court. You and him got together and he joined. He was there when we purified Ahri. Zac said he got corrupted.”
He had a bit of sadness in his voice, but he couldn’t change the past. Of course he blamed himself to some degree, they all did. “He’s been up to Lysithea before, that’s where we all went for Ahri. Um, he’s the Senshi of Porcupines? He was nice, friendly. Eager to learn and eager to help. What do you mean, ‘wrong with him’?”
He didn’t question her abducting him; he trusted her, of course. Maybe he was a little confused why she was taking Ilse and not anyone else, but he was perpetually afraid of smothering her or sounding like he was nagging. It was a difficult balance, to care so much and not be clingy. He flipped two pieces of French Toast onto a plate and brought them over for her with a fork and knife; the butter and syrup were already on the table.

“Porcupines! That…yeah that does make sense.” Talia sighed and took hold of Evan’s arm for a moment, resting her cheek against it. “I mean. He was asking questions, seeming as though he was happy I got out. He mentioned Michel, and then…I don’t know. It seemed like there was some kind of a switch pulled in him and he attacked and just…changed. I know that Chaos can corrode you but…it was such a quick thing…It…scared me a little.”
Not…not really scared.
Quickly Talia backpedaled. “Not…scared so much as worried, I guess. I was worried about him. Maybe he’s gotten unbalanced…or something else is going on. I just. Ilse and I got out together. And I’ve worked with her before. I know she has the most recent experience with being corrupted…and she’ll fit in the suitcase well…and. Well. She’s not stronger than Monoceros. So I don’t think he’ll lash out as strongly. And her magic…”
She shuddered. “It’s painful. So she’ll be able to keep me safe, and I’ll do the same for her.”
Finally she let go of his arm and began to cut up her breakfast, eating a bite before staring at it and beginning to shovel it into her mouth as quickly as she could.
“...s**t. Yum.”

Evan stood still when she latched onto his arm, just enjoying the few seconds of closeness. He listened as she spoke, and once she let him go he just sat down next to her and pursed his lips thoughtfully.
He was happy that she was enjoying her breakfast! But…
“...Are you really going to stuff Ilse into a suitcase? Is that some new slang I haven’t picked up on? –Because, I’m glad that you’ve got a plan! And backup. Michel, um. I guess sometimes he has that effect on people, though…”
He was used to people disliking Michel more than he was used to anyone liking him.
“It sounds unnatural. I mean, the Negaverse is always up to some dirty trick or something. It wouldn’t surprise me if they figured out some way to directly hijack an officer or something. I’m really glad you got out when you did. We’ll get Monoceros, too. Whatever it takes. Um–so tell me if there’s anything I can do, okay? Otherwise–maybe–well, no, that probably sounds silly. I was going to say I could make you some food to try and win him over with. But, you know. A good meal can do wonders.”

“No, I’m really going to have her in the suitcase…I don’t want him getting wind that there’s another senshi with me, so I’m going to have her power up in the suitcase when we get up there…I think it’s as good of an idea as anything…I just need to sell Ilse on it now.”
Talia sighed. “So then…I um. Am right in thinking that he’s not one to just. Start trying to hurt people. There is something fishy going on? Also, yes please! Food sounds like a great idea, after all…that’s part of the reason you found me. So, please! I would love if you could make some food for all of us. I’m going to reach out to you too, just like I am Zac. I promised to send text updates so. I hope it works. I hope that we can get Monoceros to freedom and I hope…I don’t know. Maybe you can tell me some more about this Court stuff Zac mentioned. Like…now that I want to listen. I know you’ve spoken of it before but.”
She shrugged and took another bite of her food.
“I’m ready now. To hear it. I think. If that doesn’t sound as selfish as I think it does.”

Evan stared at her for a moment and then nodded slowly. He was too stunned to respond but he almost laughed at the idea of poor Ilse shoved in a suitcase. He smiled though, and nodded along with her.
He’d be glad for updates, and he was more than happy to make food for them.
“It’s not selfish,” Evan assured quickly. “I’m happy to tell you everything I can. But–first and foremost, you’re right. That doesn’t sound like Monoceros. I’m worried about him. I hope you can help him. So–the Court. I wasn’t in it when you first formed it. You started with a few people. Malcolm was there. And a few others, but I didn’t really get the chance to know them, sorry. But–I’d known you and Malcolm before the Court. I mean, Malcolm in passing, because he was Zack’s brother, but you and I were friends. And then, I got youmafied, and–it’s kind of a big gap for me, the whole starting of the Court. But I know that you saved me.”
He chewed on the inside of his cheek for a minute and then said, “Zack hadn’t meant to youmafy me. He was trying to keep me safe. But, um. So you were really passionate about saving me. And you worked really hard to find a way to do that. So you got everyone together, you made the Court. And then you all put your power together and–oh, Cosmos was there–but you pushed all the Chaos out of me. Zack got really messed up afterwards, but it’s–when a youma and a Negaverse Agent bond, it’s–I don’t know, it’s complicated. But it really hurt him. I think he knew it was going to. But he wanted to save me. Malcolm got hurt afterwards, but that’s when Zack realized that he needed to get out. So you helped him with that. And you helped me. A lot. And I don’t think there were a lot of Court things going on then. I’m sorry, I know this is long. Um–anyway, I got awakened, I joined the Court. So since then we’ve had Kari, Monoceros, and Varuna.”
No, too many names, he had to shake his head to focus.
“So our priority is to save people. And we have–we’ve saved a few people. Always looking to save more. We’ve got this Headquarters place? But we haven’t been in a while. When we come together as a Court we can teleport together. Maybe we can get a few of us together and head up there some time? It’s beautiful. But we’re–we just want to help. A lot of people don’t understand how the Chaos affects them. But we give people a chance. We try. It doesn’t always work, but. We do our best. I’ve got ex-youma kits. Because it was hard for me to come back from it, so I hope I can make it easier on other people. Malcolm was looking after things while you were gone, but you know–when you’re ready, it’s–well. We’ve always trusted you when it comes to Court things. Your heart’s always been in the right place. You’re brave, you know who to trust, you’re always trying to do the right thing–I mean. Well. Like right now, what you’re doing with Monoceros. That was the type of thing you used to do before the Negaverse took you. Less suitcases! But. Same goal. Um. Sorry, was that too much? I can try again, or if you have any questions? I can do my best.”

She had to chuckle at the less suitcases comment, but…everything else…made Talia feel…rather warm. “...I’m going to talk to Malcolm later today, that was always my plan but I never realized he was so involved. He’s. Really nice. He was a good friend to me when I was still corrupted…just like you were. I hope we can have more of our little get togethers…I loved them. A lot. They’re some of my happiest memories, to be honest with you.”
Swallowing, Talia drew in a breath and shoveled the rest of her breakfast into her mouth before nodding firmly, energized by Evan’s words, and by her own ideas. “Then I’ll just have to save him. That’s all. If it’s what I would have done in the past, I guess i haven’t really changed so much, which…is nice to know. But. Ah.”
She stood and pulled Evan into a tight hug. “...I’m glad that I was able to save you. You’re so wonderful, Evan. Seriously. And I love you so much. Don’t ever forget it.”

Finally, Evan laughed; he returned the hug eagerly. Sometimes, he was worried that Talia wanted nothing to do with her past. Sometimes, he saw so much of Cambria in her that he was worried he was projecting. But things like this…
He was hopeful. Whoever she was, whoever she wanted to be, he believed in her.
“I’m glad you saved me, too. Thank you. I love you, too. We’ll have more get-togethers, I really enjoyed them too. I’ve been…nervous, about being too needy. But I love spending time with you. I’m looking forward to more. And I know that you can help Monoceros. Whatever’s going on with him, if anyone’s going to get through to him, it’s probably you. So let me know if I can help. I’ll always have your back.”

Talia nodded, almost eager, though paused. “...I do need something from you right now though, Evan. My stomach is screaming for another piece of french toast and you’re the only one who can help me. Won’t you please be my savior once again?”
She grinned and sat back down, holding up her sad, empty plate.
…It was going to be a good day. SHe decided it and would see that it was. No matter what other feelings tried to come into play.
