Monoceros was enjoying life in the Negaverse more, again. Sometimes silly little thoughts still broke the surface, but it was getting easier and easier to let it go so he could just be. No more worries. It was nice. Arsenolite was happier, or seemingly so, but he wouldn't really know why Arsenolite wouldn't be happy. This was what his former brother had wanted, after all. He needed to prove himself to the Negaverse, now, though. So he was on the hunt for a Senshi starseed. Sensing the aura of a weaker Senshi than him, he prowled towards them, ready to shout his spell and capture them and take them for his own gain.

Izanami was getting used to the feeling of Negaverse auras. They made her skin crawl, certainly, but they were all enemies. Even fi they were stronger than her. This one, at least, wasn't a General--and she'd fought off one of those, so she had no doubt that she could fight off a Super. If she was lucky. If her magic worked. If, if, if.
She was ready, hand upraised, when she ducked around a corner and towards the threat, but--
No.
He hand dropped. Her eyes went wide. She made a noise of shock, and horror.
"Monoceros?"
It couldn't be. It wasn't possible. The Senshi that had been there when she Awakened--the one that had helped her to understand this world--was--corrupted?

"Ugh." Monoceros couldn't stop the annoyed sound from dropping from his mouth, but he had the grace (somehow) to at least look like he felt embarrassed by that reaction. Because as much as he ached to take a senshi starseed right the hell now, he... Well, he wasn't quite sure why he was stalling all of the sudden. He didn't care so much about his past anymore, and yet... Hmm. Perhaps he wanted to indulge in idle curiosity, since he wasn't very emotionally attached to the idea. "Another person who remembers who I am, and yet I have no memory of you," he said, sighing. "Yes, that's my name."

No memory. That made Izanami's lips downturn. She had never seen the results of a change in sides before, and they looked...unpleasant.
"You helped me," Izanami said, "when I first Awakened as a Senshi. We haven't seen each other for quite some time. I...my name is Izanami." Before, he'd known Kirika, if only briefly--but she couldn't allow that now. She would be Izanami and no one else.
"Do you remember anything at all? You saved me, from an officer who was going to kill me."

Monoceros shook his head. "Nothing at all," he said, almost dispassionately. "I really wanted to save you from death? Strange. That's what I came here to change. Though I didn't know I was changing it so sweetly."
KILL.He swallowed. Being reminded of a time when he saved lives instead of wanting to end them so rabidly... All life had value. What the ******** was wrong with him. His pupils constricted and he rubbed at his temples briefly. His head always hurt when he tried to think about the actual consequences of what he suddenly wanted so very desperately. Don't. Care.But that was worrisome, how it didn't worry him, except that it really wasn't, but that made it worse, and— He growled, cutting off the circle his thoughts were getting into and trusting the voice in his head. "Sorry it couldn't be someone else, Izanami," he said, "I imagine this is painful to experience, emotionally. Quill Flash." Noir Songbird A burst of porcupine quills flies from Sailor Monoceros's hand, which can cause shallow scratches and/or minor puncture wounds. Any attempt to remove the quills before they vanish will cause sharp, pinpointed pain in the area; however, they don't sink in much deeper than skin-level. A user can choose to have this attack cause permanent damage or the injury will fade when the magic expires. This attack will last 20 seconds and can be used three times per battle.

Izanami should have expected the attack. The way Monoceros was acting was strange, wrong--and she wasn't sure, entirely, what she ought to do. Her heart was in her throat, and her chest ached. This--this weas wrong. This was a tragedy, and Monoceros deserved better.
His magic came flying at her, and she dodged, but too late--the quills embedded themselves in her arm and shoulder, and she hissed in pain. It hurt to raise her arm to cast her magic. Hurt to say "Cremation Blaze," and aim it at someone who used to be a friend. It felt like a miracle that her magic came to hand, and flew at him. She had half-expected it to fizzle, or for the turmoil in her chest to be reflected by it exploding, but it flew and burst, and Izanami prayed that it was enough. That the pain of being burned up would distract Monoceros long enough for her to run.
She couldn't do this. She couldn't fight him, couldn't pretend he was like any other enemy, like this wasn't destroying her from the inside out.
"Pleas, Monoceros, don't do this," she begged, taking steps back, trying to put more space between them. "It doesn't have to end this way. I don't want to hurt you, and I don't think you really want to hurt me."
Or maybe he did. Maybe the Negaverse had warped him so thoroughly that all he saw, looking at her, was a threat. Maybe it didn't matter that she didn't want to fight.
She had never felt this shaken, in her civilian or her magical life. Quote: Izanami holds a hand up in front of her face and speaks the name of the track, and blue fire ignites around her hand. She then gestures at one target, and the target appears to be engulfed in blue flames. The target will feel as if they are being cremated from the inside out, with a sensation of pain akin to first degree burns over the entire body. The fires last for 25 seconds, but at player discretion, lessened pain can linger after the end of the attack, and the target can be left with minor burns. Izanami can use this magic three times per battle.

Monoceros screamed. He was on fire and all he could smell was his own burning flesh as he dropped to the ground and rolled, sobbing, trying to put out the magical flames that he knew were magical and that this wouldn't work on them, but instinct didn't care. Burning, burning, ********, this magic was intense and he never, ever wanted to experience this again. Killing Izanami probably would never work, considering this kind of magic she had. Everything hurt.The flames finally went out and he lay facedown on the dirty pavement, sobs and pain wracking his body. "I'm sorry," he cried, not even sure she was still there. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." He didn't want to fight. He didn't want to kill her, crazy magic or not. What was wrong, what was happening to him? He almost (no, definitely) preferred back before he'd talked to Ashanite and couldn't even bring himself to try to be the huge dickweed the Negaverse wanted him to be. He was more conflicted now than ever, but the moments of conflicted clarity were so few and far between.... yet far more intense. "I don't want to do this," he whimpered.

Izanami winced. The sound of Monoceros's pain was horrible, and she could hardly bear to hear it. This was someone who used to be her friend, and who had helped her.
But he was different now. And even though the quills faded, and the pain faded, she knew--he'd intended to kill her. She had to defend herself. And she started backing away, shaking her head.
"I'm sorry, too," she said, and then she took off running.
