Iolite sat a ways away, once again just watching the both the foot traffic and the truck. Unlike the last time though, she knew what she was looking for. More specifically who she was looking for. Her ears perked up at the sight of black and purple hair. There he was.... EvanHe still looked like she remembered. Looked... happier?? But maybe that was just cause he was interacting with people. It had been so long... Iolite really hadn't meant to leave him for so long... Hadn't meant to just... disappear like she did. She'd have to make it up to him somehow, if he'd let her. She wasn't sure how she would, but she would. Iolite darted from her spot, taking the chance as people seemed to be slowly be leaving. She dipped under the truck, creeping to the back where she hid under the steps. It was only once the last of the customers had left that she tentatively crawled out of her hiding spot and put her front paws onto the step at the back, meowing

Evan never really liked working both the kitchen and register–well, no, he hated working the register in general, but he was on his own tonight and doing his best. Thankfully, most of the customers understood his particular brand of panic and were kind to him about it–and it helped that the food was always good.
The evening had been busy but had settled into a slow trickle of people and then, finally, a break. Evan had been about to slump on the ground and just sit there for a minute to recoup when he heard a meow.
He’d been half crouched when he caught the noise, and his head jerked to the door where he saw–
“Iolite?”
He’d know that fur, that star anywhere. “--Seriously, is that you?”

Her ears perked up at the sound of her own name and she jumped the step all together, bounding towards Evan, practically crashing into his legs. "I would certainly hope it's me. Unless you've been seeing other black cats behind my back." She purred loudly, brushing up against him. Part of her couldn't believe she had actually found him. It wasn't that she thought Soleiyu had lied to her... She just hadn't believed in herself. "I'm sorry..." She said softly, ears folding back. "I said I would be around for you, and then just.... disappeared." Though it wasn't as if she had been doing anything during that time period. She had been a bad friend. But she would try to do better. "How are you?" How was he doing... How was he feeling..

Evan seemed overwhelmed with happiness just to see her, and he rapidly collected her in his arms and scooped her up. He squeezed her tightly, unabashedly, and tried to blink away the wetness in his eyes.
He’d wondered for a long time what had happened to her. He’d worried that someone had hurt her.
He’d worried a youma had eaten her.
“No, but I did get a dog. It was an impulse thing, but he’s great. I get really stressed out and anxious, he helps keep me grounded. I mean–you know me. You know how I get.”
Frantic and worried and panicky. Afraid that something was going to go wrong. Worried, constantly.
He had a history to justify the way he was.
“I think–I mean, things are a lot better than they were! I’ve missed you. A lot. It’s–it’s been a lot. I’m so glad to see you, Io…”

Iolite let Evan collect her with no complaint, purring loudly. She rubbed her face against his, tail swishing back and forth. She did pull back, almost startled. "A dog?!" She explained, ears swiveling backwards. She stared at him for a moment before sighing. "We'll... wouldn't be the strangest pet you've collected.." What human would become friends with a cat that talked or a monstrous dog like creature. Iolite settled back in his arms. "I remember." Of course she remembered. She worried so often, so much... "I mean, obviously it's better. You are you again. And I'm here again so..." Iolite grinned at him. "It's good to see you too Evan... I missed you."

“Yes, a dog! I couldn’t just go get a cat or something. You’d think I was trying to replace you!”
He drew her back to his chest and tucked her head under his chin so he could hold her for a moment more. “He’s sweet. He’s calm, he looks after me. I had a hard time going out and doing things after–well, everything.” He wasn’t the best at talking about it. Better, now, but there were always hangups, and she was still in the Negaverse so his mouth felt like it was stuffed with cotton.
He released her from his hug so he could look her over and make sure she was okay.
“Things are better now. I wish I could tell you everything.” Wish he could tell her about being a Senshi, about Airi. “It’s just a lot, I don’t know where to start,” he said instead.

"You better not get a cat!" She puffed up, tail twitching back and forth. Io huffed, but settled down, purring once more. "That is no fault of your own though." Iolite certainly couldn't blame him. Not after all the things Evan had gone through. It certainly didn't help that she couldn't help him as much as she wanted. "A lot is an understatement." Iolite murmured. She hadn't seen the mutt in ages. She hoped he was okay. "I'm glad things are better now though. But, perhaps... It's better that you don't tell me everything." She said, ears swiveling backwards. "At least, for now anyway." Perhaps she had some thinking to do. "I do hope to hear about it though. Someday. We'll figure out where to start when that time comes.

Evan was gentle, carefully stroking the fur behind her ears. She wasn’t a cat, but he always liked when someone played with his hair so he thought that must have been similar, at least.
“I’m not going to get a cat,” he promised. Soleiyu wasn’t a cat and he was more than enough. But, he couldn't tell her that, either.
“Sometimes you sound so mysterious. I wonder about you a lot. I worry, too. I hope you can retire from the Negaverse. I’d feel much better if you got to be somewhere safe. I never know what’s going on, it just seems like trouble’s always brewing. I miss you, you know.”

"I would say I'm your cat... But... " Being what she was, she was more of a hindrance then anything else. She wondered if Evan ever thought she was a danger to be around, an inconvenience. With a sigh, she shook her head, before tilting her head, practically shoving it against Evan's fingers as he scratched at her fur. "Better to be mysterious, I suppose. Neither of us need me running my mouth and saying the wrong thing entirely." Though, Evan seemed to be doing better now. Maybe he could protect himself more. Better then she ever could. "I don't know... how to go about any of it. And I mean, I've been through it once. Technically." She admitted. "It's a double edge sword no matter what. I risk getting found out if I talk to anyone Order, and I don't know who I can trust this side to talk to about it." Sure, she'd seen her fair share of people swap sides, but that didn't mean it would work for her. Or be that easy. She sighed again. Evan did have a point though. "Trouble seems to always be brewing... But... You are not the first person to mention leaving to me." Which was true. "I know." Iolite said softly. "I miss you too." A lot.

The smallest smile appeared on Evan’s face, and even if he understood that this was dangerous, he’d grown a bit braver since they’d last seen each other. It wasn’t so much as just being out of the Negaverse–Evan had been worried about a great many things before.
Life hadn’t been easy for him, and he wore all the troubles he's accumulated on his sleeve. His heart was heavy and he’d lived in a perpetual state of worry and discomfort.
Now, though, he could even say he was happy.
A bit less worried about everything, a bit less neurotic.
He pet behind her ear with a bit more affection.
“Well…if it’s something you want…I mean, I could ask around. There were Senshi–strong Senshi–who helped me out of my whole situation before. I could probably find them again. I could ask them how to do it. And I mean–I trust them. They’ve had my back. They’d have yours, too.”
