Andreiya had arrived promptly, because he was not going to be late meeting up with a Senshi to go to another world. She’d told him to dress warmly, so he’d arrived in uniform, with cozy mittens, a thick scarf, a sweater and his windbreaker. His uniform was comfortable enough that he wasn’t too hot now, but he didn’t really have much time before he overheated.
Thankfully, she was there when he arrived, so he hurried over.
He had earmuffs around his neck and a backpack slung over one arm.
“Keiko,” he greeted, “I hope I did not keep you waiting for too long! I am not late.” He glanced at his ComTech to check the time. “Were you just excited, too? I brought some things, I hope that is acceptable. I was hoping I might be able to borrow some of your soil? Not for anything nefarious! I just need some um, samples. You know, my research–to help things grow on other worlds, um. If there might be anything you want to grow, maybe I could help? Since your world is cold? I could maybe make somethings, um. Cold resistant?”
Oh, he shouldn’t have run his mouth like that, what if she changed her mind and didn't want to let him go, now?

Keiko grinned and thought that he was terribly adorable. Obviously he was excited, and that made her so terribly happy. The fact that people were eager to see her homeworld. Eager to see Keiko. It made her want to make it even better than ever, and not just because she wanted to transcend. Because Keiko deserved it.
“Andreiya! You’re not late at all, I was just excited! I always love to visit my homeworld, and I was excited to see you again, and now you’re here, and you look all ready to go, those earmuffs are adorable!” She held out a hand for the male, nodding. “Take whatever you want, soil or any plants that you think would help you! If my world can help bring yours back, please do whatever you need! If you’re ready, just go ahead and take my hand and we can head up!”
She couldn’t stop another small laugh. “...I really do love the earmuffs. May I ask where you go them? They look terribly wonderfully warm.”

Andreiya immediately took her hand; he didn't seem the least bit self-conscious about his appearance, and he was practically beaming when she said she would help however she could.
“You are very kind, Keiko. I am very excited to see your world! It gives me home, that if your world can come back to life with diligent care, maybe Velenia can, too. Oh, but I’ve never seen it. Thank you!”
An eager smile had settled on his face and he squeezed her hand when he couldn’t contain his excitement.
“Um, I am not sure where I got these. They made me think of little hamsters, though. I like them very much. Hamsters. Oh, and these earmuffs. I was a little sad when the weather started to get warmer. I was afraid I would have to put them away and wait until next winter, but this is much better!”

‘Oh, if you have…I mean…” Keiko paused, tilting her head. “Do you have like…a subspace pocket? Because you could keep them with you and just visit my world wherever you want to?” She grinned. “Or you could leave them up there with me, and I’ll keep them safe until you visit?”
Her fingers curled around his, and she pressed down on her phone, taking them both up to Keiko. When the cold breeze blew across the both of them, she laughed and gave a slight shiver. “Welcome to Keiko! This is obviously the outside, so…take whatever samples you’d like to, my home is yours, Andreiya.”
It only seemed fair, if he was trying to save his…if he couldn’t save his…it was always better to at least know you had a home. If you needed one.

Andreiya immediately looked worried because, while she might have meant well with the offer, he nearly panicked at the idea of losing his cute little earmuffs.
As soon as they were on her world he was reaching for them and got them securely in place over his ears. He was able to make out what she said easily enough from the fluffy comfort of the earmuffs. It was good that he didn’t have to strain because he was immediately enamored by the strange new world she’d brought him to.
It was cold, but different from Earth in so many ways.
“I could put them away if I wanted to,” he said, but his voice didn’t even sound like his own; he was too enamored by everything.
“This is yours–all yours? And there is no one else up here?”

“Nope! Just me up here. And the bugs! The ones that have come back.” She paused and looked around, grinning as one of the fluffy moths came into view. “Ladybugs, butterflies, moths like this guy here, and spiders are what I’ve seen so far. I’m sure that there’s more that I just haven’t found but…there’s one of the moths now. I love how it looks as though it’s wearing a fur coat.”
She turned to watch her new friend and chuckled softly. “...I hope that this means you like it? I know it’s not much yet, but I’m working on it, I’m going to start working on a real house next. I have a base of operations that I’m happy to show you, and it has some accommodations that make it possible to stay up here overnight but…I want more. I want this to be another home for me, and for anyone else who wants to come here. It could be a safe haven. A place to come if you don’t have anywhere else…I…I mean it, meant it when I said this could be your home too if you ever wanted. If things fall through. Or you just want someplace to call your own, Keiko has more than enough room for the both of us.”

Andreiya’s eyes widened as he looked around. There were bugs! Things he might have considered pests–maybe–if they’d been on his plants back home, but here? Here, they were beautiful!
“Oh, this is amazing!” he said, and looked like he wanted to chase around after them just to look.
“I love it! This is amazing! I want to see everything. That sounds–all of it is so charming! You are very kind. But I think I will have a home! I love the Vanguard, it is my honor to serve in it. I could not abandon it. They are my friends. I have known them for so many years. It is everything I have ever wanted. I am proud to be in the Vanguard. I would have to talk to my Commodore and see what he says, but. It is a very kind offer, Keiko. But I have a very small roommate to think of. I think he might be too cold here. Oh, but I suppose we could bring a heater.”
Oh, but he was getting ahead of himself. He flushed a bit and looked back at her. “You trust me already to live on this world with you?”

“Hey, I understand! And yes, I trust you. You’re my friend, Andreiya! And you’ve been displaced, you have your Vanguard friends, but..you’re trying to save your home, I’m just saying if, and I don’t want this to happen! I want you to save your home more than anything! But if something happens, you have a home here. Or if Earth gets too…tiresome and you want some time away, back in space…I’ll build you a house here. We can get heaters for your small roommate! My home base has a heater in it, and honestly, so long as you have good walls and good insulation, the heater doesn't have to be very large.”
Fireplaces were also something she could work with..they had time. She would figure out how the houses would be. She had time. Honestly, she had forever.

Andreiya chewed on his lip as he considered what she was saying, and he wanted to defend the Vanguard and insist that they would succeed–how could they not? They were working so hard! They had to find a solution, they couldn’t let Commodore Lyndin down.
…They had to save everyone on Velencya. He wanted to be able to go to his home.
But…He couldn’t say that some space away from Earth didn’t sound charming. Sometimes it was so loud! And so busy! So crowded. Sometimes he wanted to be alone but he didn’t really know where to go. His room, maybe, but it felt so small. And outside? Anything could happen, outside. A Senshi could get you, or a youma.
“We will see,” he promised. “Thank you. It is generous. I am not used to such kindness. What plants do you have growing here? Do they grow on Earth?”

“I’m not actually sure! Most of the time everything has been covered in snow so it’s hard to see, but…there are some like, scraggly plants. Nothing I’ve really paid much attention to, so I’[m not sure…I…I’m not really the best person to talk plants to, I take them all for granted, I’m afraid.”
Keiko reached out and grinned as one of the blue ladybugs landed on her outstretched fingers. “I’ll try to find out more information for you, But um. I’ve been focused on the inside of my little home base, and the bugs that have come to live here but…it is a good idea to know. I hope that maybe you can help me with everything, with bringing some things up here…maybe we could figure out how to grow things up here?”

Andreiya’s nose wrinkled and he looked around. The snow was nice, but if things were always covered in snow he suspected he might have a difficult time getting to the dirt. He nodded, because it was okay if she didn’t know about plants. He knew about plants, he could figure it out.
“I think it is a smart idea to be focused on shelter. I can see how this could be uncomfortable quickly. I like the cold, but only if I know I can go warm up. I can help you build a greenhouse if you wanted? I made one on Earth, I grew things all winter. Let me–”
He unzipped his bag and began to pull things out–mostly just containers for soil, it seemed.
“Let me dig a little for some soil, I can examine it back on Earth. May I take some scraggly plants back with me to see if I can figure out what they need to grow? I can do lots of research. When we meet up again, I will have many suggestions. I am very interested in this!”

“Of course! Take whatever you need, Andreiya! I’d love help with a greenhouse, that would make things..so easy. And we can meet up often, I would truly love that.”
She nodded at him and moved to make herself comfortable on a rock, wrapping her arms around her knees and just allowing him to work. This…truly could be good for Keiko, she realized. It…having someone helping her grow things…
That could make all the difference that she didn’t know she needed.
Meeting Andreiya was one of the best things that could have happened, and honestly, there was no way to change her mind.
