Soyala liked to think she was generally well-informed on the comings and goings of the Negaverse. Particularly, she was quite intrigued by their new allies in the Vanguard--though she had yet to have the opportunity to speak with one, she had many questions for someone from beyond the stars. Many talked about Senshi as if they were, but of course, she knew well enough that they were born on Earth and whatever connection they had to some other world could be interrupted. Redirected.
Made more useful.
But the Vanguard...they were fascinating and unique, and when she happened upon one in her wanderings of the city, she bounded over, and positioned herself in front of him.
"Excuse me? Do you have a moment?" She wasn't quite able to recognize their ranks yet, but she could figure that out. "I'm Soyala, a Negavrse Guardian Cat. I wanted to speak with you, if you don't mind?"

Eso, who had been minding his own business, heard the voice and perked. He looked around, and then down at the cat before him, blinking at her slowly. His first time with a Negaverse Guardian Cat surely. He'd seen some of the Order aligned ones. His own intrigue ran deep. "Greetings, Soyala. I'm Eso, Cadet in the Vanguard. I have several moments to speak with you, in fact." He looked quite happy to do it too. It would be something to take his mind off of the thoughts that were spiraling around without a direction. "What can I do for you?" Instead of looking for a more comfortable spot, Eso sat right there on the dirt to get closer to the feline's level.

"A pleasure to meet you, Eso," Soyala said. And look at him, so clever and polite, sitting down to look at her! Without a moment's hesitation, Soyala bounded over and settled in his lap, because there was no reason to stay on the ground when there was a person who was perfectly good for sits.
She wiggled, a little, to get comfortable.
"I hardly know where to begin," she admitted, "but I suppose I can start with--how are you settling in? I imagine it's been quite a change, coming from your world and staying on ours, and I imagine that the way the alliance between our groups started off was...hm, not a good introduction." She had been at the battle on the hill, had even upgraded a Senshi there, and so she had seen the confusion that had seemed to run rampant.

When she happily leaped into his lap, Eso had hearts in his eyes, and the biggest smile. He reached down to start scritching at the top of her head, between her ears and laughed. Felines, even Mauvians, were delightful creatures. Perfect for hands that needed to be busy. "Well," he said, nodding. "It is quite a difference. Honestly, I'm... fond of this world. I have been since the moment we were allowed to explore. It's full of so many things that I want to discover and explore. I still do not understand the concept of 'money'... but I'm delighted by bubble tea. ..And uh..." He thought of how to say it without butchering the word, but alas, this was not his mother tongue. "Craps? The little thin pancakes? They filled it with some chocolate nut butter." It was very safe to say Eso had found his sweet tooth.

Ah, good, this Vanguardian clearly knew how to treat a Mauvian. Whether he had been trained or whether he simply knew, it was always a pleasure to find someone who knew what he was doing with his hands.
"It is a lovely world," Soyala agreed. "And the food is quite delicious." She thought, for a moment, trying to determine exactly what he might be referring to, and then-- "Ah, crepes! Yes, they're quite good. I've had a few myself, though not often." Sweets were a tough thing, for her.
"I can't recall having anything to compare it to, but I don't think I would choose any other." She let out a soft purr. "That's part of why I serve the Negaverse, you know? Aiding in protecting this planet, rather than worrying about what else is out there." She frowned, slightly. "But I suppose you do have to worry about what's out there, don't you?" After all, he came from out there. So he probably had family, friends, plenty of people off of Earth. "Do you think you might return to your homeworld, one day? Or are you content here, at least for now?" She knew, certainly,t hat they had a goal, based on what she had been briefed on. Perhaps he only wanted to stay until that was complete.

"Ah!" His pink cheeks flushed a light purple as he flushed in his embarrassment. At least she didn't laugh. "Crepes, yes." He continued to scratch at her head, getting her cheeks and just behind her ears. And then she asked a question he had been ready for but didn't know his answer to, so he made a noncommittal noise. "It... I have ...went back and forth on the matter, actually." Lilac brows drew together as looked down at Soyala. "I don't know what I want anymore. We were given a choice out there. Side like I did, or with the Order. ...My personal beliefs then were to join Order. Everything I had heard, drawing my own conclusions it's what I would have wanted others to do if the positions were switched. However," a heavy sigh. "I had people to protect and so I went against my gut. Now I'm here. I picked Tenoch because I didn't have the strength to be alone on the other side. While we're all from the same place, we all think differently. Much like Earthlings, I suppose. I am younger than some. So my memories of home aren't the best. I still feel the need to go back. That is home." He leaned back, both hands going to prop himself up as he did. "So. I think, at the moment, I want to... protect the Vanguards I care about... even if I ...do not see the same as them."

Soyala hummed, thoughtfully. Perhaps she ought to be more offended that he told her he had considered siding against them--but he had made the right choice in the end. Thoughts were just thoughts, and Soyala supposed it couldn't hurt to have opinions. After all, he wasn't working against them now. And he wasn't really her jurisdiction, anyway.
"I think," she said, "that it shows intelligence and thoughtfulness, that you are carefully considering your options. And even though I firmly believe that you chose the right one..." She rolled her shoulders. "My opinion is only my opinion. But I am glad to have you, Cadet Eso, and I think that wanting to protect your people is an admirable thing. As I said, it's all I want."
She shifted to sit on her back legs and put her paws on his chest, so she could rub her head against his lovely, pink cheek.
"I wish you luck, Eso. And please, let me know if there's anything I might be able to do to help you or your people. We are allies, after all."

He smiled when she rubbed against his cheek and he couldn't help but giggle. It tickled and he enjoyed it a great deal. Her words also eased a little bit of the weight off of him he had been feeling. His mind was just a bit more clear. "Thank you, Soyala. It's very lovely meeting you." He gave her chin a good scratch before he slowly eased her off his lap and stood up. "For now, you've helped me already, just by talking. You're a very good listener. So thank you. If you want to know about the world we came from, perhaps find Tenoch. He might have more memories than I. He's purple! I don't think you can miss him. He has facial hair now, as well!"

Soyala went when she was nudged; never enough time to luxuriate, but at least she'd made Eso smile, and perhaps helped him feel more comfortable where he was.
"You're welcome," she said. "I'll look for your friend." And ask plenty more questions. There was always much more to understand, and it seemed like the Velencians had a lovely diversity of opinions. "Good night, Eso! Do stay safe, darling."
With that, she darted off.
