The weather was changing and that meant things were coming to life. Most of them, Andreiya didn’t mind. Little bugs, little rodents. Fine, as long as they stayed outside the greenhouse.

They were not.

He needed to do what he could to protect his plants, and he’d found a rat in there earlier, nibbling on his leaves, and he knew he had to act. It could have damaged his tomatoes! He couldn’t figure out where they were getting in from so that meant he needed to work out a way to chase them out without traumatizing his plants.

So, he was in the park again, in a place that he hoped was secluded enough to keep him out of trouble. He didn’t want to get beaten up by anyone, and he had enough enemies in the White Moon and the Negaverse, apparently.

He had a few little traps set up–lights, noises, things that would move but not necessarily hit anything.

He was getting desperate, and was fiddling with his miniature robotic rat as he tried to plan out his traps. Should he just make a little robotic rodent to chase them away? Oh, but what if it bothered Dylas? Oh, Dylas! How was he going to keep him safe! Was any of this going to work?

He was nervous and squirming but he’d already built these things. He might as well get some use out of them. He looked around once more, worried he’d find someone, or something creeping in the shadows, but he knew he was just worried.

Had to be just worried. He was alone. Certainly.

He hoped.

Sucking in a breath, Andreiya put the robotic rat down so he could at least observe the response of the traps and take notes on the effectiveness of the systems; he began pressing buttons on the little console he’d brought to record data and began recording.
