He didn’t know when he realized his magic wasn’t working. Maybe it was when he’d been attacked by a youma a few weeks ago? Maybe it was longer ago than that. He hadn’t powered up in a while. He wasn’t being a very good Senshi.
Turns out, running a modeling agency and staying relevant was hard work.
…But, work he could do. Work he could do while being a Senshi.
Because, even if he didn’t know why it was him, he knew that it was. And he knew he wanted to make the world a little better, because what was the point of having power if you weren’t going to use it for good.
So, he set up the old Connections App, made a few tweaks to his profile, and sent out some feelers to see if he could get some sparring partners.
Because, what else was he supposed to do if not practice with his magic? And, it wasn’t like he could just get a Negaverse Agent or Youma to sit down and tell him what felt right and what was wrong about it. He’d explained what he was looking for and was fortunate enough to have two Senshi take him up on his offer. He’d outline that he needed to use his magic, and detailed that he was the Senshi of Apathy and his magic wasn’t supposed to hurt. And, for their help, he’d promised dinner afterwards, and to open his availability if they needed someone to patrol with.
He arrived in the park early and made himself comfortable and the fountain they’d chosen for the rendezvous point. It was well lit, but there wasn’t anyone outside despite it not being terribly late. He checked his phone to make sure there wasn’t any cancellation, but it was a nice night.
He didn’t mind waiting.
…He just hoped he could figure out what was going on with his magic before he needed it again.

"Geeze Tea, why'd you play with that app thing and get us invited to a sparring match?" Byakko sighed as she followed the youngest sister to this meeting point.
They were suppose to find some guy that was the senshi of Apathy -- which that was fine but the fact she had to baby sit her baby sister to keep her out of trouble. And why was she the one that had to find out the youngest was also a senshi? So that made three of them that she knew of. Her brother, herself and now her sister. "Don't you think this is a bit dangerous?""You worry tooo much sis. Please stop treating me like I'm still a baby. This guy needed help. We should help him because it's the right thing to do!" Chibi tea said, and yes . . . . she was still a chibi at seventeen. Maybe that's why her sister still treating her like a child? They were only four years apart in age.
"Feliks wouldn't've treated me like that still." She pointed out and watched as Byakko went silent with a very clearly irritated look towards her.
"Besides he's offered to buy us dinner and patrol with us. Safety in numbers right?" Yes she knew accepting food from strangers was weird but they were all on the same side.
"Oh look there he is." She waved and smiled, "Alya??" She asked as she approached him.

Alya felt the energy signatures before he saw them, and though he knew they were getting close he didn’t rush himself to try and figure out where. He was glad for it when they called out for him; he turned to face them and waved. His smile was perfectly in place and it was obvious right away that Alya was incredibly put together and carried himself with either a natural or performative charm.
“Byakko, Tea,” he greeted. He recognized them from their profile pictures, so that made this part easy at least. He approached with a little bounce in his step. “It’s nice to meet you in person. I’m glad you could make it. Sorry for the odd request, I really appreciate it. I’ve never experienced anything like this.”
He tugged at one of the gold necklaces he wore absentmindedly. He had plenty of other things to worry about, he didn’t need to deal with performance issues, too.
He needed a fix, fast.
“I’m hoping I can just jolt my system back to what it’s supposed to be. Unless either of you have heard about Senshi magic just randomly getting, you know, weird?”

Chibi Tea smiled as Alya spoke. "I'm a chibi my magic is always . . . .weird?" Tea responded while wiggling her fingers when she said weird. She wasn't sure what he meant by his being weird but her's yea. . . totally it could either not work or just backfire on her. She shrugged softly, she didn't know of an adults that would do that though.
"Hopefully we can help though! It's why I convinced my sister to join us and see if we could figure it out!" She rocked on her heels a bit as she waited to see what Byakko would suggest.Byakko paused when Tea blurted out and her palm went to her face as she sighed, "I'm sorry my baby sister is a bit straight forward." Sending a soft glare over to Tea and then slightly chuckled when her sister made a face.
"Anyways~. How is your magic weird? I didn't know things could happen to magic . . . " This was concerning, "I do hope we can help figure it out or at least see what's wrong with it. . . ."
She crossed her arms thinking, "Maybe . . . you use it on one of us to see what it does?"

“I can,” Alya said, and was quick to insist–particularly because they were sisters, “It isn’t painful. I mean, it’s never been. I’m the Senshi of Apathy, my magic’s supposed to make people just not care. But recently, when I cast it, sometimes it blows back on me. Sometimes it doesn’t seem to have any effect at all, maybe? I can’t tell. I’ve used it on youma but it doesn’t seem like it’s doing anything. It’s driving me crazy.”
He sighed heavily, because this was exhausting, but looked back to the two sisters.
“If you really don’t mind, I can cast it now. Just stay close, I can probably hit both of you at once with it. If it works. You’ll have to tell me if you notice any change, okay? The magic lasts for less than a minute, so if you have any effect, just let me know. I want to time it, too, let me get my timer ready.”
He pulled out his senshi phone and accessed the app so he’d be ready, making sure to give them enough time to object or protest if they wanted to back out. Just in case.

"Okay do it!" Tea said bouncing on the heels of her feet a bit, "I've always been curious what magic feels like anyways!"
Granted he'd just explained what his magic felt like and it'd be unusual for Tea herself to feel just melancholy but it sounded like a lot of fun to try. "It totally sounds like it's trying to do the whole chibi thing where it backfires or just doesn't work though . . . ."
She looked at Byakko. "I wonder why an adult's attack would do that?"Byakko sighed as Tea sounded wayyy to excited about being a test dummy. "Do you really have to sound so excited?" There was a half chuckle though as she thought about the issues Alya was talking about.
Her lips pursed and she seemed fairly thoughtful. "Has anything changed since the time you used your attacks when they actually worked and now?" She asked curiously doubting she could figure out what was causing it but Tea was right it did sound like there could be acting like Chibi magic if it back fired on him or just plain ol' didn't work.
"Oh but seriously, fire when ready." She added with a nod to Alya might as well get this out of the way and see if they could rule out the issue at hand.

“Not that I know,” Alya answered honestly. “But I didn’t use it for a while. I wasn’t getting into fights or anything, and then I noticed that I might use my magic and it didn’t have any effect. I asked someone else if I could use it on them and they said they didn’t feel anything. So,” he exhaled. “Here we go.”
He sucked in a breath and called for his Super magic; it would allow him to target both of them–ideally–and as he cast it, he pointed at each of them. Red light spread from his finger to them, and he seemed to be holding his breath as he waited to hear about their experience.
He wanted to think it was just a fluke, but he didn’t know how widespread this issue was–or how long it had been going on for, either.
After it was cast, he shifted his weight–not quite nervously, but with anticipation of something to work with.
“Anything?”
Quote: Super Sailor Scout Attack: Embrace of Apathy Alya can target two enemies within an eight foot radius; he will point his finger and a stream of red light will envelop the targets for only a second. For the next twenty five seconds, the targets are overcome with apathy; they seem to have little interest, next to no enthusiasm, or very little concern for anything. This makes it difficult to want to fight, or to continue doing whatever the target had previously been involved in until the magic wears off. The magic's effectiveness is somewhat diminished by extreme willpower. This magic can be used two times.

Byakko watched the red light with interest as it worked it's way to her and her sister, her sister still bouncing with excitement. Right up until the red light hit them. She sighed and well, kind of lost interest in the fact they were there to investigate something.
She decided to sit down and look at nothing in-particular..Tea watched the light and it hit her and her sister at the same time. She faltered for a moment the excitement seemingly draining her from her for a moment before bouncing back.
"Soooo . . . . " She was looking at her sister, "How do we fix this?" She grinned as she asked hoping her sister might have an idea - or at least maybe Ayla could get some idea to help.Byakko was being bothered by her sister now and she shrugged, "I don't care, you figure it out." She said waving a hand disinterested in the task it seemed.

Alya let out a long, drawn out sigh and tipped his head back to look at the sky. There were no answers there, so he closed his eyes and massaged his temples. “Oh, okay. Well, maybe there’s something still in it.”
That wasn’t bad, right? There had been–well, he didn’t know Byakko well enough to know if she was just predisposed to apathy or if his magic had really had some effect on her.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do about it. Maybe I just need to meditate, or do yoga, or get more protein in my diet. This Senshi stuff is going to be the death of me, even when I think I’m doing everything right, something still seems like it’s gotta go wrong.”
He rolled his shoulders and returned his attention to the two girls in front of him. “Are you okay? The magic didn’t do anything weird to you, did it? Give it a few seconds, it’ll wear off if you’re feeling anything. I haven’t timed it but it doesn’t last for more than a minute. I appreciate you trying to work with me to figure this out, though. I might have to see if I can contact a Mauvian, it just feels like having to tell the teacher you can’t figure out a homework problem. Ah, but I really want to fix my magic, so I suppose I don’t have much of a choice. I need to stop dragging my feet. Maybe I should see if there's someone out right now while I've got some free time.”
Ah, but he hated to just use his magic and leave.
"Can I buy you two dinner or ice cream or something, as a thank you for coming out here?"

Tea looked at her sister, "Well . . . it seems like the attack did a thing to her. She seems wayyy more uninterested than normal." Tea said looking towards Ayla, She seemed to think about what they were going to do. He was talking about going to a cat.
The chibi paused, "What if . . . you go to your homeworld? Maybe it could have an answer???" Tea was pondering, "I mean I need to figure out how to get out of being a chibi myself."
There was a pause when the other offered dinner or ice creram; "ohh I am hungry. What about you Byakko?"Byakko made a noise of discontent when her sister said it made her more uninterested than normal. The senshi was drawing in the dirt with a little twig she'd found, not responding as her sister and Alya talked.
She had lost almost all interest, up until something was said about food and she lifted her eyes upward a bit towards her youngest sister. Who said she was hungry. "Yeah . . . I guess I could go for something to eat too." She mentioned very blandly.
Standing up and brushing off her fuku and straightening up her skirt.

Alya smiled apologetically. “Sorry,” he said again. “It’s not permanent, I promise. You’ll be back to normal any second now.”
…Although, it was a bit reassuring to see that his magic did still have some use.
“Going up to my Homeworld is a good idea. I haven’t really made much of an effort.” It hadn’t really interested him before and now wasn’t much different. His priority was to Earth, not a world he had no connection with. Well. He supposed that wasn’t true but now wasn’t the time to get into semantics.
“I’ll give that a go if the Mauvian can’t help me.”
…And somewhere down the line, when he had more time, maybe he’d have to make a serious effort to actually see what his world was like. “I hope you get some clues for how to get out of being a chibi.”
He knew how frustrating it could be to be stuck somewhere and not know how to break out of the mold you’d been fitted into.
“Do either of you have a preference for what you want to eat? I don’t mind picking it up and meeting you back here, or we can go dine in somewhere. If you aren’t shy around powering down in front of each other. No pressure, though.”

Tea seemed to bounce as she went to poke her sister, "Lets gooo how about Pizza!?" She asked excitedly.
She paused and thought about the offer for Alya to go get the Pizza or for all of them to go. "I vote we all go eat at the restaurant. It'd be a nice change of pace and don't have to worry about bugs!"Byakko soon blinked and shook her head as if she was shaking off a weird feeling. "Oiii, that was the weirdest feeling of not interested in my life I've ever felt I think."
She looked at her sister who was bubbling over and poking her. "Pizza?? Yeah sure." It's like the whole conversation finally registered and she stood up. Brushing her skirt off, "I agree lets all go together, I don't mind powering down. It might be nice if something happens outside of our powered lives if someone knows who they're looking for. Right Tea?"Tea frowned a bit when her sister mentioned that, "Yeah I think so." She turned to Alya, "Lets go then!!!"

“Pizza? I can do pizza,” Alya decided. Sure, it might mess up his diet, but he could just work out a little extra–maybe patrol a little longer–and that would have to make up for it. Besides, it was more important to make friends than worry about calories.
And poor Byakko deserved something good for putting up with his magic like that.
It had been a while since he actually sat down in a restaurant instead of just grabbing something to go.
“Sounds like as good a plan any to me.”
