Cleaning up her journal to be more uniform with my other characters, this was dated June 17, 2013.
Don't look...
It's horrible writing...
It's from 9 years ago...
I warned you...
You're persistent...
Boxes, boxes and more boxes. Talk about annoying dreams after spending days unpacking everything the only thing Mei was able to dream about was well unpacking more things. As dream Mei struggled to push a queen size box bed up two flights of stairs the sound of her alarm clock blaring music next to her head startled her awake.
It's Friday, Friday
Gotta get down on Friday
Mei rolled over in an attempt to smack the snooze button but instead managed to knock her water bottle and phone off the night stand. "Ugg" she groaned from the soreness 'dang it'
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend, weekend
Friday, Friday
"Oh my god shut up" She sat up abrubtly which made her slightly dizzy from the blood rushing to her head. 'so not a good idea'
Gettin' down on Friday
Everybody's lookin' forward to the weekend
Having run out of patience with this annoy contraption from hell Mei grabbed ahold of the chord and unplugged it from the wall before flopping back onto the bed. "I swear to god that damn song plays again I'll bust this alarm clock into yester year" she mumbled almost inaudibly more so to her self "IT'S NOT EVEN FRIDAY IT'S TUESDAY" she blurted in frustration before rolling back over.
To be honest she should have gotten up, it was 10:00 AM but her achy muscles and bruises demanded more rest time. Unfortunately any attempts of sleep were dashed by the 'Friday' chorus that is now stuck on repeat in her head. Mei sat up this time not as abruptly as before and pulled the covers off before sliding out of bed and heading to the restroom.
Looking in the mirror her hair was a complete mess but to be honest she didn't care, instead she grabbed her toothbrush and tooth paste and began brushing her teeth. It was at that point she noticed the long bruised over welt that went from her elbow almost to her wrist "Holey cap" Mei said with a mouth full of tooth paste. 'What the heck did I hit myself on' She thought truly bewildered. Mei leaned over and spit into the sink then turned on the faucet to clean off the tooth paste.
She took a moment to look herself over in the mirror to see where else she had any bruises. There was the one on her right arm she noticed while she was brushing her teeth, one on her left elbow from where she whacked it on the wall when she was passing her brother in the doorway, and one on each shin from when the dresser drawer opened and whacked her pretty good. "That would explain why I'm so sore" Mei grabbed the brush and combed out her hair before going back into her bedroom.
Between the three of them, Mei her brother and her father, they were able to get all of the furniture that belonged into the bedrooms up two sets of stairs without dinging up the walls too bad. None of them managed to go unscathed. Unfortunately she managed to smack Shen in the head with a bed frame when Mei tried to slide it into his room not knowing he was around the corner.
Shuffling her feet back into her room, Mei closed the door behind her and surveyed the last remaining boxes to be unpacked. "Clothes, clothes, nick-knacks... Ah ha! Computer! Come here you!" Mei lifted the container up onto her bed and removed the lid. One by one she took each piece of equipment out and put it on her desk "Monitor, mouse, keyboard, tablet, chords, and tower." It took her maybe fifteen minutes for her to get everything set up and the computer turned on.
Knock Knock
"Yeah?" Mei yelled "You can come in I'm decent."
The door creaked open and her mother stepped in "You actually got up this morning, I figured you'd sleep through the day."
Mei laughed "The through crossed my mind believe me, anywho what's up?"
"Everything is more or less unpacked and with it being so beautiful outside I thought it would be a good idea if you got out of the house and explored the neighborhood." Her mother walked over to her and sat down on the bed next to her. "I know how tempting it can be to stay in your room and go on the computer but I would really like to see you get out of the house."
Mei's shoulders slumped in defeat, 'No point in trying to get out of it, I say no she will kick me out anyway... Mei recalled the explosive argument they had last time they moved, how much she truly didn't want to go outside, but her mother, refusing to let her sulk inside, shoved her outside without any shoes on and wouldn't let her back in. At least her brother was nice enough to toss her a pair of sandals out the window for her. "What about Shen?"
"He's going to help your father assemble some of the deck furniture"
"Yeah...Going outside sounds like a good idea" Mei really didn't want to put anything else together right now.
"Also, Mei, if you manage to find a store that sells some of those ceramic pots of yours, why don't you get some? I would really like to have my pots and mixing bowls back." A humerus smile spread across their faces.
"Yeah I can do that mom, lemme just get dressed. Could you write our address down for me so I can put it in my phone?"
"Sure sweetie, I'll have it downstairs for you." Her mother leaned over and gave Mei a kiss on her head.
"Thanks Mom!"Her mom got up and walked out of her room shutting the door behind her so Mei could get changed. Mei took off her white tank top and green and pink plaid PJ pants and tossed them onto her bed. Rummaging through her clothes boxes she found her bra, a pink ruffled tanktop, beige shorts and a pair of brown sandals.
Once she was all dressed she grabbed a side bag, her phone and wallet then trotted down stairs to the front door. "I'LL BE BACK" She yelled so her mom could hear her as she grabbed the sticky note off the door and shoved it into her bag. "This otta be fun." She said as she left the house.
