Adenah hadn’t been in Besaji long, but as it was the largest port town in Matori she knew she’d find her mark sooner rather than later. Since she had the element of surprise Adenah could go without her usual cloak and with a simple thin, decorative scarf tossed around her shoulders the brand wasn’t visible. For all anyone knew she was a simple traveler, perhaps a merchant’s wife or a dancer because of her garb, but nothing more.
In truth she was here to end the life of an Oban official while he hid from the order.
Still, she could hardly do anything until she’d scoped out the area which was what had led her to “The Silver Sail”. It was a small little pub on the docs, but no less rowdy than some of the larger establishments. At first she’d been happy enough to nurse a drink and get a look about; now she was taking on challengers in a knife throwing contest. Originally the target was supposed to hold darts, but since most had been broken by past patrons they’d resorted to other methods.

Visiting the other continent seemed like a strange dream. To think just a few years ago he was simply a lad doing odd jobs along the docks to save up whatever coin he had. Now he was a captain and making trips to foreign lands to secure the best goods for trading with quite a decent crew to support him. While this was one of his first trips to Matori the man was not completely at loss since he had a couple of natives in his crew that had helped him to navigate the strange area as they lingered for a few days to gather supplies and prepare for the journey back home. Still though he could not seem to grasp that he truly had his own ship, a ship that had easily made it all the way to a place like Matori. Even now Ephrym could only stare at his Misty Maiden for a few lingering moments more before finally allowing his crew to drag him towards a small local pub on the docks.
At first he had been content to settle in around a corner as the others eventually left to roam other areas of town, Ephrym just relaxing and simply listening to the stories bouncing about the room, but the gathering crowd on the other side of the pub eventually caught his attention. Not one to avoid some good fun, Ephrym found himself approaching so that he could watch a knife sailing through the air towards a target. "How many has she slain?" He jested towards another victim, the scruff Oban simply rolling his eyes before walking away to nurse his ego from the defeat. He had his own collection of knives tucked neatly into his coat, the supple brown leather flowing around his body almost like a cloak. For once he was dressed more simply though it surely wouldn't matter when his Belrean traits stood out like a sore thumb against the local crowd. But it seemed he wasn't the only one standing out. Ephrym nodded with appreciation as he watched the strange foreigner tossing the knives. "Care for another victim?" He asked with a wry grin as he held up his own throwing knife.

It didn’t take alcohol to bolster her pride. She walked back to the target to retrieve her daggers with all the confidence of a seasoned pro and when she turned around a part of her was saddened to see her latest adversary walk away. He’d been fun to tease and rile up, even if he was s**t shot. Maybe that was why he was so sore? She’d publicly shamed him, her own inhibitions raised with the goading of the crowd and maybe that meant she should apologize later if she ever saw him again.
At first she’d thought the other hybrid was an Oban hybrid as well. His hair was similar enough to a Matorian’s that he hadn’t immediately stuck out to her, not with so many others surrounding them, but now that he was closer he seemed off. Still, she wasn’t about to shirk from a challenge and smiled. “If you think you can best me it’s a five gold pot.” She gestured toward a stool just ahead of them that marked the starting line. Atop it sat a little bowl that already had her contribution; the rest had been added to a rather hefty satchel at her side. “If you win I’ll give you half of what I’ve earned tonight.”

A grin crossed Ephrym's lips at the suggestion of a prize. If anything he was simply in it for the fun but having a bit of a gamble did always add more spark to the situation. "Confident. I hope I can at least provide some entertainment before you shove me to the curb." He teased with a wink towards the foreigner. Still though as his finger traced along the edge of his blade, his wrist flexing as if testing the weight before he pulled back and instead gestured towards the woman.
"Ladies first?" He offered politely, his gaze gleaming despite the courtesy. If anything it would only be fair to let the winner set the mark before he threw his own blade in. "Best of three?"

[3/10] [1 is furthest ring, 2 is closer, and 3 is dead center]
Adenah gave a demure little curtsy that was followed up with a smirk. Her garments left little to imagination when she stood, but each movement blurred the line more and more. She never expected to win a fight or a match because of it, after all she dressed this way for her own benefit, but sometimes it distracted stupid people. If that helped her out then so be it.
With a weak, ‘dainty’ throw Adenah managed to hit the target but just barely. Her dagger pinned itself just on the borders edge of the rounded target and she sighed. “Maybe my lucks starting to run out?”

Ephrym was a fool, but hopefully he wasn't that foolish. Or at least that was how he would like to think even though his crew may disagree. He would always appreciate a good view, especially of a beautiful companion, but the man had learned over the years to be wary of a pretty package. Most days such things were a trap and that was especially true in the slums of Belrea where he had earned some of his coin. Still, he couldn't help but to chuckle at the foreigner's comment concerning her throw. "Mmm. I guess we'll see, right? Maybe it'll come back with time." He turned and twisted his wrist before letting go of his own blade and watched as it sunk into the target a little bit closer to the middle than the other blade. Even if she was just jesting the man didn't want to show all of his cards either. It was best to simply play along and enjoy the game while it lasted.
"Huh. I guess that's my point then." Ephrym grinned towards the foreigner. "If anything I'll at least buy you a drink once this is over with the winnings." He couldn't help jabbing a little bit even though most of his confidence was hiding his actual wariness. There was no way someone who had destroyed so many others could have simply been relying on luck alone. Maybe in other games like cards but even then sharks of all kinds were notorious especially in the waters around docks like these.

"That's a good first throw. Very solid." If they were playing for longer then she might have dragged it out a little bit further. Still, Adenah had been at this for the better part of the night and her winning streak was high. She wanted to walk out of this a winner; even if he'd offered a consolation prize.
"That's too kind of you. I really do love generous men~" Without even bothering to walk up to the line, Adenah flung her dagger in an instant and nailed the center. The act was so quick that many of the bystanders didn't immediately react, but when they did more than a few reached out to slap her back. "And if I win I might even let you watch me drink it."

A chuckle escaped Ephrym's lips as the true predator finally revealed herself. "Oh, ho ho." He laughed as he prepared to toss another of his own knives towards the target. "That's a good center throw. Though I always like to think the closer the better, right?" He winked flirtatiously towards the woman before allowing his own dagger to fly and land right in the center, the blade wedged against the one she had just thrown. It would be hard to tango if they were too far apart. Ephrym had plenty of past experiences to acknowledge that much, even if things didn't escalate to such a point later it was just fun to play the game while in port with a pretty foreigner.
"We can always share a drink together." He continued as he glanced back towards his opponent to watch her reaction, the audience around them growing as a few of the men who had been clapping the foreigner's back now looked between the pair. Someone let out a low whistle and he swore he heard someone comment about a spicy situation which only made Ephrym's grin grow a bit more. This was definitely a fun competition and his amusement showed in the brightness of his lightning gaze, the split pupils almost dancing with laughter as he encouraged his opponent. If anything he would be expecting a heated reaction since the woman obviously had plenty of confidence and skill to back up her words. He just hoped he could continue keeping up with her now that they were on their final throw. Definitely gonna be close.

The closer the better, huh? Instead of getting angry or feeling a spike of fear over his apparent skill Adenah just laughed. "Well, well, well! Look at this; a natural~" She clapped her hands together and gave a face splitting grin. The same crowd that had been jeering for her were now turning their eye to him, and that made things all the more interesting. "I'm more than ready for a drink or two, but if it's another sort of dagger you're hoping to show you're out of luck." Adenah turned her back to the board and flared her arms out, the jewelry decorating her darkened skin chiming with the movement. If she'd been facing the target itself maybe she would have made another center shot, but throwing without facing at all cost her a few points. Still, the fact she'd made a decent shot at all brought her a round of accolades.

Ephrym chuckled, his expression brightening as he realized the foreigner was a good sport. He let out a low whistle of his own at her throwing prowess, the man giving a nod of acknowledgment as the blade sailed into the target. "Damn. I guess that either means you just prefer sheaths or I'm too late for the ride." Taken or not interested which was a shame. Still, Ephrym was just happy to have fun company for an evening and it honestly didn't matter to him how they spent it together as long as it was entertaining like this.
"Not that I'm only for traditional means myself." Ephrym teased as he copied her movements though the blade connected with the outer ring this time instead of being neatly in the center. Seemed he was not the most professional back thrower out there, not that he minded since they were still tied which was only fair all things considered. "Looks like we can share a few drinks together if you're willing to split the pot." He teased as the crowd applauded their efforts.
"Ephrym." The captain gave a grin towards the foreigner before holding out a hand. "Thanks for the game, miss."

Adenah shrugged. "Who says it can't be a little of both?" Take that as he may, the mood remained the same. A fun evening, some light hearted banter and a thrilling competition.
"Ah, ah, ah~" Adenah plucked his coins out off the stool and offered them to him with a grin. "It's a tie; so, you'll only be getting your coin back. I don't mind paying for drinks, though." Entertaining as he was, Ephrym wasn't so charming that she would willingly part with more gold than she had to.
"The name's Uula," She reached for his hand and gave it a brief shake before motioning to the bar. "You've got a lot of talent. If you'd been able to make that last throw you would have had me beat."

"Pfft. I guess I didn't read the fine print of this contract." Teased Ephrym though he was obviously not worried about the coin. It had simply been for fun and he wasn't looking to wipe out someone else's hard winnings. Though he supposed it wasn't such a hard win considering the talent the foreigner obviously had. "Still, I will take you up on the offer of drinks. Some of that amber ale is callin' my name."
"Well I guess I should study more throwing tricks then for next time." Quipped back Ephrym with a grin as he walked towards the bar and slid into a seat, his hand tapping lightly at the one next to him to invite his new companion. "Two of your finest brew please." He asked with a gesture towards the barkeep before turning back towards Uula. "So what brings a talented knife throwing extraordinaire to a small port like this? I'm new to the area but so far I was thinking it was your average port in Matori."

"Same thing that probably brought a Belrean here; work." Now that they were close enough for her to really get a look at him it was obvious that Ephyrm hadn't been born in Tendaji. Even if his parents had been from Belrea and decided to settle here there was an air about him that didn't quite match the others around the pub. When the ales were slid their way she lifted hers in thanks to the bartender and took a steady drink.
"So, Ephyrm, are you here as a dock hand or are you on a ship?" She didn't imagine anyone choosing to stay here if they'd had half a mind so unless he was truly strapped for cash her money was on traveling.

"Fair enough. Seems like good motivation as any." It would be a lie to say that Ephrym wasn't curious about what type of work the foreigner was invested in, but even he had some form of sense to avoid that direct of a question. Plus it would take away from the allure if it was a simple answer. So he decided to leave it be.
"As alluring as the area is I'm with a ship." Replied Ephrym as he raised his drink and took a swig, foam catching on the corner of his mouth. "We docked for supplies and to let the crew stretch their legs for a bit. Could pick up a few new hands maybe, especially the knife throwing kind." He teased with a grin before moving to wipe the foam from the edges of his lips.
"Place definitely isn't as complex as the city but it has a certain charm to it." He acknowledged as he glanced about. A good place to meet some more secretive traders and to also just enjoy some peace.

"Depends on where you're headed, I suppose. I am looking for passage to Yael, but the temporary kind. I wouldn't be much use on a ship." She reached over to pluck the foam from his mouth with her index finger and holding it up. For a moment it looked as if she would pop it into her own, but Adenah wiped it off on the counter instead.
"It has a good energy about it." Honestly, the people here had been some of the kindest she'd run across and as much as she didn't want to stick around Adenah couldn't say she hated it here. "Got any wild sea tales to tell?"
