Ever since Juniper cam into his life Birchfly had been spending a lot of his time with. And unfortunately his herb stores were suffering for it. Not that it was her fault, no. He would never blame his sweet mate. It was his own laziness that they suffered.

Finally he had run out of a few things and now he really would have to go gathering. Leaving Juniper behind because while he loves her with all his heart she could be a bit naive and he didn’t want her picking the wrong plant and it be poisoness. Plus he could move faster on his own l. And the sooner he got his work done the sooner they could spend time together. Although he hopes she wouldn try to organize his herbs again.

That was a bit of a headache to sort he didn’t feel like doing it again so soon.

It’s not like he didn’t take his work seriously anymore. No one could fault him for wanting to spend more and more time with her. Juniper tugged at his heart like nothing else could. He couldn’t explain it. Maybe it was the Flutter blood that ran through him. He often hears about how because flutters were so small that they could only feel one emotion at a time but when they felt it it was almost all consuming.

Of course…. That was coming from his cousin Darma and she likes to tell stories. So who knew. Well maybe other Flutters did but funny how he had never run across another Flutter. One would think he would have but maybe the world is just that big.

Maybe one day he and Juniper could travel a bit. Birch would love to see more than just the area close to his familial home that he choose to live in. His mothers would probably protest. Scared that he may not return. He could understand that. Being a parent must be tough. Having yet another soul to worry about/

But all that was something to think about later down the road.

“Right. Herbs.”

He gave a small shake of his head to clear his thoughts. Birch had to concentrate. Thankfully he instinctively knew where to go. He had gone to these places for herbs many times before. Now was the time to gather as much as he could and then let them regrow to harvest a few more times. He treated a lot of Soquili for various things and winter time was his busiest season. Juniper could help him lay everything out to dry. That was an easy task.

Finally he reached one of his favorite spots. There were several herbs that free here. Coltsfoot, tansy, dock, chervil. He wondered why so many grew here. Maybe the soil was just exceptional here. And then he wondered if he could bring other plants and plant them. Perhaps they could benefit from it.

The stallion began to gather from each area of plants that he needed. Placing the leaves and flowers into his pouch that he used to carry them all. Once his pouch was full Birchfly turned right around and began to wander back in the direction of home. The excitement of seeing Juniper made his ghostly wings flutter with excitement. Perhaps they could go have lunch by the lake once everything was lain out to dry. It was rare that anyone stumbled upon their home on accident. Which was nice because while Birchfly didn’t mind company having a bit of privacy was nice.

It wasn’t long before he reach the little cave that he lived in. It was a good place he had founds a while back. There was a small little storage cave inside the wall that he could put his herbs in. They were, for the most part, safe from the elements.

Settling his bag down outside he glanced around. “Juniper?” His ears perked in anticipation of her reply. But it never came.!it wasn’t odd for Juniper to wander off every now and again. He could understand that she needed her own space.

As he stepped into the larger cave he stopped in his tracks as a large pile of poison ivy lay on the ground. His face paled at the sight. “Oh no. Someone is going to have an itchy mouth.” He sighed just a little, turning to the storage cave where he saw everything was empty. But it wasn’t empty when he left?

Birch tilted his head and then the realization struck him.

Juniper’s mouth got itchy before he returned. She couldn’t remember what would help her so she ate….. “Everything…” Closing his eyes he had to chuckle quietly to himself.

But first thing was first. Birchfly carefully removed the poison ivy from thei home.
