Siegfried took them to his wonder for sparring. He was going to go anyway, given the punching bag he was also traveling with. Here, on Siegfried, he didn't feel bad if buildings got destroyed, or trees fell; besides, no civilian could wander in on their training, nor could any Chaos. It was the safest place for them to train, provided you ignored the little beetles and crab... spiders that seemed to crawl over the sands and planks. Those were new. He would have remembered them from the brigade meeting.
The dragonflies were gorgeous though.
He walked the punching bag over to a shadier spot of the beach, and turned to Albireo.
"Alright, love, how hard do you want me to go? Do you want to start with just fighting me and I'll block, or do you want me to fight back?" he asked her, cracking his neck and shucking his overcoat off his shoulders. He was fine with either, but he was currently the stronger of the two and didn't want to over power her too much. Wouldn't do to just beat her every match. She'd probably get demoralized and sink into herself again.
"We can also do either to first blood - like, the first contact we have on each other - or just until we're tired. Your choice."

Albireo looked around Siegfried for a few moments before answering, it was fantastic. And coming alive just like Albireo was.
“I hope you know that bringing me here was kind of a silly thing to do. How on earth am I supposed to concentrate on anything when there are cute crabs and dragonflies and other creepy crawlies!?”
Her attention was completely on one of the crabs and swiftly, Albireo drew herself to her knees, gently poking the creature, but finally, she looked up, giving what was almost a pleased smile, something that could be dangerous…if she so wished it. “I really could just pretend you were Jarosite again and go all out on you. Did you wear that protection, darling?”
The creatures on the Wonder seemed to have dispelled all of her former depression. Perhaps she just had to go and spend some time on her homeworld…perhaps she should stay there whenever she was feeling the deep nasty thoughts creeping up again.
…It was worth a shot, at least.
…and speaking of.
“Honking Distraction!”
In a real fight…there wasn’t time to talk it out…and this was just Siegfried wanting to make sure she was prepared...so she’d simply have to prove that she was. Or…could be.

... Of course she thought the crab spider things were cute. He really should have expected that. "Look, it's not like I expected life to be be here, love, it just sort of---" The loud honking of her attack swallowed anything that Siegfried would have said past that. The honks echoed around him, and though he knew the source, it still was unsettling and confusing.
Siegfried remembered little of his time as Jarosite. Sometimes he got flashes of it, or something would directly trigger the recall of some very obscure information or skill. The civilian Merric may have never trained fighting, but Jarosite had, and since they were one and the same, his body still remembered techniques and fighting styles.
His body also apparently remembered the last time Albireo had used this attack against him, and responded by launching himself forward drive a side kick into her ribs.
"Let us hold nothing back, shall we?" he said, with a similar almost dangerous grin.

“It deserves to be here! I love that. I love the fact that things are coming alive again!” Albireo was pleased to see that he still had the same general reaction to her magic and opened her mouth to agree that she wouldn't hold anything back…even though she was rather a one trick pony, but then his feet connected with her side and Albireo gave a surprised cry, her magic cutting off abruptly.
“...s**t, Sieg…you weren’t kidding were you?”
She rolled out of the way of him, hoping that he wouldn't continue to attack while she was down, but something about his smile…unsettled her. Unsettled her enough that the look of fear that clouded her expression was very real.
Jarosite had been angry more than a few times.
Albireo didn’t enjoy thinking about those times.

The panic in her eye scared him. Siegfried froze, silver eyes widening in horror. What had he -- A flash of a memory, almost viewed from an outside angle, flared across his eyes. He flickered in and out of Jarosite, eyes too bright, mouth too wide. Swords sharp and glittering in the sun. The bloodlust slammed into him, the thrill of hunting little white moon senshi, hunting little traitors huntin---
Siegfried's fist cracked against the nearby palm tree, pain shooting through his knuckles. He panted, eyes wide and adrenaline in his veins. No. No he wasn't that anymore. He hadn't been that in years. He couldn't be that anymore. He wouldn't.
"Albireo... Albireo I... I'm so sorry. I..." he said, eyes hiding behind his bangs. He stared down at the sand beneath him, watching a crab spider scuttle in front of him. "Did I hurt you?"
It wasn't really clear if he was asking about right then, or in the past.

Albireo cleared her throat and shook her head, forcing a smile. “You didn’t hurt me at all. It was just. Stupid old thoughts, don’t worry, Sieg. I’m fine!”
She. She was fine. It was just bad memories. Bad thoughts that sometimes tried to resurface but.
Moving to the Knight, Albireo threw her arms around him and drew him close, pressing a kiss to his temple. “I’m fine. It just startled me, that was all. I didn’t expect it and I wasn’t prepared, I’m not hurt, I promise. Besides. It…it was literally three lives ago so…”
Swallowing, she drew away, laying a hand on Siegfried’s cheek. “It’s not who you are anymore. And I love you…do…should we…just call this training quits and go home? I…”
Her eyes flickered to his hand and she sighed. “...maybe stop by an urgent care on the way back to get you patched up. Silly pirate.”

He melted into her embrace, burying his face in her hair and just focusing on his breathing. She smelled of the salty air around them and something uniquely her and it brought him back into his own mind again.
Which then flared the agonizing pain in his hand. Siegfried winced and cursed, fingers twitching as the shock settled in to the muscles and nerves. He'd broken his knuckles. Again.
He was gunna be useless in a fight at this point, jeeze.
"I broke them. Again. Jeeze I'm a mess Albi. I'm sorry love," he said, kissing her hair and sighing. He really was a mess. Maybe once he was healed again, he'd come back here and just...
Sort some stuff out.
Yeah.

Albireo shook he head and moved to hug the Knight gently, kissing him on the tip of his nose. “Nothing to apologize for, Siegfried. Let’s just go home and get that taken care of.”
And maybe. Maybe when it healed. Maybe she could suggest that they both find someone for some therapy. Obviously this training session had shown that there were more weaknesses in the both of them other than the physical and that…
Was rather enlightening.
But, it was also a problem for another day.
