’No Micah…’ Elias’ head turned to look first one way down the street, then the other, scanning the narrow road in front of his house for his ex husband’s familiar vehicle. He knew not to expect it. The text messages they’d shared earlier that morning said as much. It would be awkward for Micah to be welcome at any event Elias was hosting. And that it would invoke any feeling at all was enough to draw attention to it. They shouldn’t be seen together because they weren’t together; they were divorced. Micah wanted distance from his ex and their daughter, for their safety. Just in case. He kept insisting the Negaverse wasn’t out to get Eli because of any perceived distraction to Micah, but his general was more of a wild card. Definitely someone Micah didn’t want knowing his personal attachments.

Micah was still clinging to that, and Eli wanted to rip his hair out just thinking of how ridiculous such notions were.

If Micah didn’t want to be with that lot, he shouldn’t be with them! Just come home. Any issues that cropped up, they would face together. As long as they had each other (and these universe-granted magical abilities), there shouldn't be anything they couldn't endure.

And then Micah wouldn’t have to make excuses to miss his own daughter’s seventh birthday party. Eli thought Teyla was taking the separation surprisingly well for someone who'd only ever known two loving parents constantly doting after her. She was young enough to adapt to Micah's lessening availability and enforced distance, but… Elias still thought she shouldn’t have to.

With a resigned sigh, Eli entered the house through the front door and walked from the entryway, through the kitchen, and out the sliding door to the back yard, where Teyla’s other party guests were gathered. He didn't think she needed a huge party, but he'd offered to barbeque, thought the kids might have a good time running around the backyard now that the weather was warming up. Not quite enough for the pool, but he could come up with other ways for them to entertain themselves.

The kids were having a good time playing, while the small collection of adults chatted and looked on. It was just a disappointment that Micah was absent.
