Exhaustion pulled down the knight's shoulders, and without anyone to see, she let her body slump until her elbows rested on her knees, her head hanging. Dark strands clung to her face in sweaty strips and there was a smear of blood on her cheekbone, likely from the cuts across her upper arms and thighs, the places where armor didn't cover her.

Sitting on an empty packing crate in a dingy back alley, there wasn't much evidence of what she'd been fighting other than some more broken crates. Youma didn't leave much behind when you finally ended them, just a bit of dust making the grey concrete more grey.

She really should keep moving. If not to keep patrolling, then she should be heading back to her apartment to get cleaned up and rest. Sitting here wasn't doing anything useful and it certainly wasn't safe, if someone decided to come see what was giving off the knight aura. If someone was curious, that someone was likely strong enough to go toe to toe with her, and in the state she was in, it was going to be an up hill slog for her. She could probably call in some friends to help, but it would save everyone some time and effort if she just gave up for the night and saw herself home.

She just needed a moment to catch her breath. The dark head tilted back, face towards the sky as the mars knight closed her eyes and let her breathing slow, the adrenaline slowly leeching out of her to make her even more exhausted.

After insisting to her siblings that she would be fine, she swore, Richtersveld donned the outfit of the squire of Pluto and set out with her restocked first aid kit tucked away in her invisible backpack. Even as a squire, her preference remained not to fight. Her oaths as a civilian kept her to that, but also, she thought that wouldn't be where she was the most useful. She could talk to people. She could heal their injuries. She could allow them to fight another day.

She felt the aura of the knight before she saw them, realizing that they must have been up the nearby alleyway. There was a part of her that hoped they didn't need any help, but it caused her to slip around and change her path and head to intercept them. Best to check up. She certainly wasn't strong enough to help with anything that might have been fighting a knight -- though she wasn't feeling anything else -- though maybe she could help with--

Oh.

Her eyes softened as she realized she already knew this knight, the handsome Tanais of Mars whom she had come across as page. A charming woman, tall, strong--

And she was bleeding. She was breathing hard. She needed help.

"Tanais," called Richtersveld, already producing the first aid kit from her subspace pocket, "what happened? There's not anyone still here, right?" She didn't feel anything, but-- "Show me where it feels the worst?"

Red eyes blinked open at the voice calling her name and Tanais dropped her head to a somewhat familiar woman. No longer a page, Richtersveld felt like a squire now when she opened her senses to it, drawing a broad smile from the Knight's face.

"Hey! What brings your lovely self out tonight?" She said with an air of easy lightness, smothering the tiredness. Richter already had a look of concern and she laughed to smooth that look away, waving a hand dismissively. "I'm fine! Its just some cuts and scrapes. Just surface stuff. I got into it with a couple of youma and the captain that was with them. I dusted them and he teleported away, likely to go crawl into a hole and lick the wounds I gave him."

She flexed her arm, curling her fist back, to assure Richter she'd given far more than she'd gotten. That first aid kit would be rather handy though... and a pretty pair of hands that weren't her own to reach the harder to reach spots.

"Its been a while... you're looking really good. Ranked up I see? Congrats on that!"

Lovely self... God. There was a small flush on her cheeks as she attempted to keep the focus on the blood she was seeing and not the fact that Tanais still persisted in being--

Well. That got easier when she was told directly about how Tanais had gotten herself scraped up in the first place. The concern was back on her face within a few seconds no matter how dismissive Tanais was-- even as her eyes traced toward the flex of her arm with a small, amused smile crossing her face. "A couple of youma and a captain? I know you're a knight, but," but that was still a lot. "I'm out here to help make sure everyone gets the treatment they need. Let me take a look at least?"

Oh, right. She did look different than last time.

Richtersveld glanced down at her outfit with a brief, but proud little smile. "I did! If you know what happened with the Negaverse at the generators," her sigh was exasperated, "it was then. A super senshi started to attack me and I think Richtersveld responded."

Not herself, of course, but her wonder.

"My channeling abilities seem to encourage patience. It's been nice to make agents think more about their actions."

The knight shrugged loosely with a lopsided grin.

"I dunno that I'd try to take on that much at once on purpose, but we were deep in it when that ******** called in reinforcements. Lucky for me, Mars is handy in a pinch when the deck is stacked against you. That aspect business is clutch, it really is, but woof, it is exhausting and I'm not afraid to say I'm a bit sore afterwards." She settled herself as she waved Richter closer, holding out her left arm to display the little cuts across the upper half. She made a face though at mention of the generators.

"I didn't fare so well at that altercation, myself. I got in like, one really good hit on a guy, and then the ******** swarmed me, some of them making gasping faces and scowling when they recognized me. Not that I recognized any of them, of course, but that's my life..." She said, cocking her head to the side. "What does your channeling do? Mine is definitely not for patience."

Her chuckle was rich, rolling in her throat and chest.

Richtersveld easily headed over to Tanais when motioned for, taking out the first aid kit and immediately starting with some disinfectant creams. Hard to know what any of those youma could have had under their claws or talons or nails or whatever else-- "Oh, I haven't tried my aspect yet," this was said almost absent-mindedly as she worked. "Good to know it leaves you a bit exhausted. What does the Martian one do?"

Oh, she had been there. It was good to see Tanais wasn't one of the ones that had been--

Well, she had seen them, corrupted, mangled. She had managed to escape the worst of it but she suspected it was only because she had gotten herself tangled up with that super senshi and her wonder had helped her stage up. She had still felt it, though, the Chaos, felt the sympathy that washed over her for her enemies that was perhaps stronger than it should have been.

And it was strong already; she had trouble being openly hostile. It wasn't her place.

"Oh, you've purified," this was absent-mindedly said too, almost like a reminder to herself. "I'll guess you were important enough to be known, before. Not that it matters now. I like you better here."

Not that she knew Tanais as Negaverse, but it was the principle of the thing, anyway.

"I could show you?" she tilted her head as she moved to work on a bandaid. "If you give me permission, of course."

Holding her arm still for the other woman, Tanais tilted her head as she smiled, considering how to frame what her aspect did.

"When I channel the aspect of Mars, I feel... driven. I hardly feel it when someone hits me and it gives me this... burst of energy. Damned useful in a pinch, to stop feeling the wounds and be able to hit twice as hard." She said.

Of course, now that affect was long gone and all the little scrapes and cuts burned like they hadn't before, all the more for the disinfecting she was doing. It left her bouncing her knee, but she kept herself otherwise still so she didn't disturb the work Richter was doing.

Her free shoulder lifted and dropped as she chuckled, acknowledging the comment about liking her better as a knight. She had no idea if Richter had met her as Cinnabar, but from the stories she had heard, she had no trouble believing Richter preferred this version of her if she had. "I guess I was important. I was a general, if nothing else. That's pretty far up the ladder to go and then decide to call it quits, especially when you're half a youma. I don't see a lot of those these days, so I can only assume that it's something notable."

She had half an eye on Richter when she said that, laying it out with a lightness she only half felt. She wasn't sure if she'd actually told the pluto knight about her past, and while she normally didn't much care about the reactions she got for it, she was still... curious about her thoughts about it, and in more than a passing way.

"Oh! Sure, yeah, go ahead." Tanais said with interest, distracted by the offer to see what Richtersveld could do. That held a lot of interest, when she knew actually very little about other knight magics.

A burst of energy... huh. She supposed that tracked with how energetic and determined Tanais seemed to be, especially with how relentless she had been every time Richtersveld had come across her. "Think that sounds like it suits you." Even if that meant that everything she was doing now definitely hurt more than it had.

It was important, though, and Richtersveld kept working, moving on from disinfecting to covering the wounds with wraps and bandaids.

Her work stuttered for a moment when Tanais mentioned something that she wouldn't have suspected. Richtersveld glanced up from the arm she was bandaging up to look at Tanais with surprise she quickly replaced with sympathy when Tanais told her the truth of what she had been. A half a youma? A monster?

Honestly, she couldn't even see it now.

Richtersveld theoretically knew that was possible, but-- "Well, I'm doubly glad you were able to get out of there, then. I actually haven't met anyone who was a half-youma, previously or currently. Or, at least, not knowingly." There was still no judgment behind her words; if anything, she was more fascinated to find out what had allowed Tanais to cleanse herself of whatever had been merged with her. And she wanted to know, perhaps, how she could help facilitate that.

As she worked, she channeled the magic she had been given clearance to use. It had given someone pause in the battle at the generators, at least. Maybe Tanais would appreciate the moment to think.

Whimsical Blue
While Richtersveld channels her magic, the person she is targeting gets an overwhelming feeling that they should be patient, perhaps, for example, waiting to proceed with whatever action they were going to do or taking some time to think. There is no need to obey this feeling and the target could choose to proceed anyway despite the debuff if they have a strong enough will to fight the feeling off. Richtersveld can channel this magic for up to 30 seconds.

The magic washed over her and the response Tanais had been about to make stilled in her mouth. This feeling of hesitance... was that from Richter? What an odd sort of magic... what sort of effect did it have in battle? She supposed making someone hesitate did give you an opening, and openings could be exploited... but she wasn't sure she liked it much. Tanais didn't like waiting. She liked throwing herself into things, bowling over her opponents, forcing them to react instead of act. Matching them strength for strength meant when she won, she knew it was because her strength had been greater.

Watching Richter's purple head as she bent over her work made her wonder though. It wasn't a magic that suited her, but someone like the squire? Maybe those moments of pause allowed her to act, to plan and execute. Maybe it worked for her. Tanais was happy to leave it to her, though. She preferred her own way.

As the feeling began to fade, she roused herself, shaking it off with a toss of her dark hair.

"I haven't met very many half-youma either. I don't think its very common. I don't think its easy for them to leave either. I had help for it. Gehenna called Cosmos for me, and she came with a senshi court. I think it took all of them... I'm not sure how it all works. I just... woke up to being surrounded by a bunch of people I didn't know. Gehenna knew me from before, so he helped fill in a bunch of the blanks. He's probably the one you should be thanking for me being on this side." She said with a crooked smile and a wink.

The knight flexed her hands as Richter finished on her arms, bending them at the elbows to see how far the bandages would let her flex. She was going to look positively swaddled in this stuff by the time she was through. It probably meant she was going to be wearing jeans and a long sleeve shirt to work for a bit... and probably working out at home.

"Haven't found anyone to team up with yet, huh?" She said, glancing out over the city and the distinct lack of other knights or senshi. "I keep finding you out alone. You'd be a lot safer with some back up... but I guess I'm hardly one to talk about that."

Richtersveld used the moment of hesitance and pondering from Tanais to keep up her work, letting out a light hum of satisfaction at a fine wrap of a wound. Maybe it wasn't Tanais' method; she preferred to act first, to act hard and fast, whereas Richtersveld preferred peace, reflection, talking, and convincing against violence wherever possible.

She could feel her channeling running out, but she could also tell by the way Tanais tossed her hair, drawing a small, affectionate smile of amusement from Richtersveld as she worked.

A senshi court... fascinating. She had never crossed paths with one of those either. Proof that there was always more to learn. The crooked smile and wink drew a faint flush as she noted, "I'll let him know if I ever cross his path. You still had to choose to leave, right? Even with the assistance of this," she knit her brows, "senshi court."

Seeing Tanais test the bandaging made her smile widen. She was proud of her work--

"Ah," she cleared her throat, "no. I do tend to go out on my own, like you I suppose," Richtersveld's smile was teasing and sheepish all the same. "My siblings sometimes give me grief about it, but I try to focus on finding others on our side. I offer support. I provide first aid. I heal. Being by myself allows me to seek them out freely."

She paused.

Sheepishly, she added, "Though it would be nice to not have to worry about my back, I suppose."

Zotsholo and Nemyi might Worry Aloud less.

The knight caught the mention of siblings and followed that thought, her eyebrows lifting in surprise.

"Ah, so you have family who are part of the war too?" She asked, feeling... a little disconcerted. She was so used to being alone, and so used to other people who were also alone, that the concept of this being a family affair was so... foreign. And why would you even want that? More than people you cared for, your friends, worrying about family in this war could be a liability. What if they were injured? Corrupted? Or even killed?

Tanais didn't know if she'd be able to handle that. Even if it meant the alternative was to go it alone, to face all of this while your family remained oblivious to your struggles... She smiled to cover her unease and mixed feelings over that, dropping her arms to rest on her thighs.

"That's a good reason to have someone along. Watch your back, and if you do get hurt, they can bail you out, or bandage you back up." She said with a chuckle. "Its a hard road to do what you do, to go out to try and help others alone. I hope you stay careful, and safe, while you do it. I wouldn't be happy to hear something had happened to you because there was no one there. Or not find out and just never hear from you again."

She had to wonder if there had been people she'd done that to, when she'd crossed over. Ghen had described it as a pretty quick transition, very unexpected. What, and who, had she left behind that he hadn't known about? People she might have loved. Maybe even family? While she knew, in an academic sense, that Ariel Mishnah had had family, she couldn't remember what their relationships had been like, or who might have missed her when she disappeared.

"Not to the extent that I am."

Richtersveld hoped, anyway. She couldn't imagine what she would do if it turned out her siblings were also knights--or perhaps even worse, senshi, because with knights at least she knew how they functioned. She knew that they had wonders, and code pieces, and magic that only appeared once their wonder had decided they were worthy of no longer being a page. What did she know of senshi? Not terribly much.

She pondered how to explain their involvement-- though she couldn't quite get the flush off her face at the compliment to the hard road she took and the hope that she'd stay safe. It was strange to have people concerned about her that weren't her siblings or in the polite way her patients were concerned about her, but she wasn't necessarily complaining. She just wasn't entirely sure what to do with it except respond with a flattered, "I know it's a hard road, but I think it's an important one. A lot of my life is hard roads, I think."

That was accompanied by an amused giggle.

"But I hope you stay careful and safe too, or as careful as you can be anyway. I'd like to keep backing you up like this -- and if you see me out here, I wouldn't mind the company."

Surely Nemyi would threaten to strap her down to a chair so she couldn't leave less if she had the backup of a strong knight--

Was she blushing again? Probably.

"... My siblings, so far as I know, are civilians. I just had my starseed taken once and got hospitalized for weeks until it was somehow recovered... and they moved across the country to watch my health and later my safety once I explained it."

"Ah... so they don't know you're a knight, then?" That made slightly more sense. And better off, probably.

"I bet it was pretty tough to come up with an explanation for how you just suddenly got better without breaking the whole thing to them. I'm sure it happens a lot, with the way things are around here, but it does not sound like a fun time, especially if you have a family in any way protective of you." Tanais said as she relaxed, studying the wrappings on her arms and thighs. The pain was ebbing, though it still stung. Nothing she couldn't handle, of course, and nothing anyone was likely to say anything about. Wear pants and some longer shirts for a while and she'd be fine with no one the wiser. She'd just have to avoid bringing anyone home for a bit while she healed.

"Can't promise I'll be too careful." She said with her lopsided smile. "Or stay too safe. Just not really my style. But I'll be sure to look you up if I run into a tight spot again. You do good work. Someone has to take on some of the worst of what's out there, and better me than someone who can't handle it as well as I can. Or someone with family at home who are gonna ask uncomfortable questions about injuries and missing time."

"Not quite." Richtersveld's smile was sheepish. So far as she knew, they were still civilians. Had been at the time they moved to Destiny City, and so far as she knew, still were. They kept independent lives, though, even as much as they lived in the same house, and also were protective enough of her to move across the country. She wasn't entirely convinced they would have told her if that status changed.

Which was unfortunate, but she had to trust that they simply weren't. "I tried to keep it from them. Was hard to come up with an excuse for the coma, but it helped that I didn't quite understand at the time what had come out of my chest until I talked to Camelot..."

Couldn't explain something she herself didn't know, could she?

"But we live in the same house and they worry about me, especially when I don't really come back home for hours beyond expected times. Was easier just to reveal myself." Richtersveld giggled. "Though I'm sure they'll be happy to hear I have someone else who may patrol with me on occasion. I'll let them know I have someone looking me up, alright?"

She grinned.

"Do you need anything else?"

She didn't fully understand how that all worked or what her family did or didn't know, but Tanais trusted Richter knew what she was doing with them. As someone who remembered having a family, she had to know more than Tanais did about the whole business. it was weird to even really imagine it... she couldn't remember being anything other than on her own.

"I guess its pretty fair not to know what happened if you'd never been told how the whole starseed thing works. Its not even something you hear about in stories or movies." She said as she flexed her arm, turning it over to inspect the wrappings. Everything seemed neatly done, and if it still stung a bit, at least it was clean and covered. Better job than she probably would have made of it one handed too. Did she need anything else? Now that was a question to ponder and she lowered her arms to study her companion through her lashes.

"There isn't anything I need," Tanais said, her voice low and warm, her lips quirking up at the corners. "But I could think of a few things I'd like. Are you busy for the rest of the night? I have some good brandy back at my place, or tea if alcohol isn't your thing... And I can offer good company."

She held out a leather wrapped hand to the other woman, wondering if she'd take her up on the offer. There was no pressure to take it and she tried to project that in her posture and the warmth in her expression, nothing but an open invitation.
