Treasure Hunter

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

A new craze is sweeping across Tendaji and everyone from the rich to the nomads are finding themselves swept into the excitement. Even you have heard about this new trend of going out into the world and hunting for treasure.

For the seasoned treasure hunters, it's a bit laughable to think it's just that easy to go and get rich, but they can appreciate the enjoyment many are getting from wading into the rivers and streams, sifting through stone, and occasionally pulling up a precious treasure to call their own.

But how easy is it, really? And are you lucky enough to strike gold?

[ IThis event prompt includes an extra step - you will need to roll a dice and react to the result. Will you be lucky enough to find something precious? Or just come up with a few rocks and cold feet?

Only the gods of luck will know - but fortune always favored the bold. So head on over to your local body of water, bring a sifting tool that many have claimed works like a charm, and see what comes up with this hot new craze. ]

Roll 2d20

Roll 1

1: Epic Fail! Oh no, you didn't find anything at all. Respond to the WE by explaining the experience and how your character feels with the results.

2 - 10: Something Shiny That looks promising... Use the second roll to calculate your results.

11 - 20: Lucky Lucky! You seem to have struck gold...or something similar. Use the second roll to calculate your results...and add +5 to the number.

Roll 2

1 - 5: Better Than Nothing A common gemstone...maybe it fell off a passing traveler. You could probably put it to use.

6 - 10: A Little Silver Silver is nice, it can be shaped to jewelry or traded for something more. It's not a lot, but it's worth something.

11 - 15: Golden Treasure! Gold, and a good amount! It's not a bar or anything, but you could use it to make some jewelry.

16 - 20: What Luck! Wow - this is a rare gemstone not seen around these parts. While not big, it's still something you could add to a necklace or ring.

21-24: Amazing! You pull out a rock that has quite a few gemstones poking out, which means there's more inside. This could be enough to create a jewelry set, or even sell it raw for a good amount of coin.

25: Unbelievable! How did you not notice the amount of gemstones in the water? Now that you look at it, they shimmer and shine a rainbow of colors. You've struck rich...and wonder how they all got here as you search for a bag to hold to prize.

Whatever your results...respond to the WE by explaining the experience and how your character feels with the results.

DERP ROLLED WRONG DICE

Kresimir had decided he would take a day off and just try to relax. Of course that was only after he had done a few small things around the house and the dance hall. He found himself on the beach and for once just trying to enjoy the sun, sand, and waves. Shoes off, he walked along where the water lapped onto the sand. Kres had forgotten how relaxing it could be. Although he had enjoyed it frequently when he first moved from Oba to Matori, with life and kids it was often hard to find time away from that without feeling guilty. It was such a stark difference from the forests he grew up in but he loved it. The thoughts of home had him inspecting the little box he had built after seeing and hearing stories at the market the other day. People claiming to have found treasure all around here! The thoughts of home reminded him that this would have been something he and his sister Sezarra would have been likely to do. That thought brought a smile to his face as he surveyed his surroundings. Kresimir had gone a little ways away from any buildings towards some of the more unused beach areas. What better place to look for treasure but somewhere treasure might be pushed to shore. Where there was a large body of water there were usually some kind of boat wrecks. Kres took off his belt and shirt, opting to leave them on the shore with his shoes. His dark skin would protect him from the sun. Once the water was about to his waist he dipped down into the water to cool himself off first before going down again and kept scooping handfuls of the sea bed into the box contraption. He mimicked the motions he had seen others using over and over again before moving a few feet away and trying again. It seemed like a fool's errand after a little while and he was tempted to give it up and find something else to work on at home yet his own stubbornness to try and ‘finish’ the task kept him going. Besides, the sound of the waves and the sand squishing between his toes was rather calming.

Maybe he just needed to try a different location! Kres felt like searching for treasure this way was fine in the ocean…but perhaps he was looking in the wrong part of the ocean. Perhaps he needed to go further out. If the tides and currents weren’t right then he supposed any kind of treasure from wreckage wouldn’t exactly wash ashore as he had initially hoped. He tried to recall some of the last little fishing expeditions he had been on and he thought he remembered a sand bar not too far off shore. One that would be possible to swim to. It would require a little bit of walking and after surveying the location of the sun in the sky, Kres figured he had enough time. It was a peaceful walk over to the point he would have to swim to though the sun got a little hot. The water was nice and cool on his hot shoulders and he sighed in relief. He was thankful for his dark skin in this climate. He swam carefully out to the small sand bank and made sure to keep a good grip on the little treasure finding box. It took Kres a little longer than he had thought it would take him to get out to the sand bar with his modified swimming so he opted to rest on the sand for a little while. Judging by how long it took him to get out to this spot he took a few minutes to figure out how long he had before he had to leave to make sure he was home for dinner on time. He tried to never miss family time whenever he could. They meant the world to him and Kresimir knew he needed to spend what time he could with them while they were here now. After a suitable break, he waded further out into the water until the water was lapping at his waist. Submerging himself, he once again began the process of loading up the smooth dirt into the contraption. His first few attempts yielded nothing so he tried to dig a little deeper down with a few bigger hand fulls of earth. At last as he sifted the material through the contraption he saw a mass remaining on top. It appeared caked in mud so he put the box under his arm and carefully worked the mud off the object. Was it…yes! It appeared to be an old bracelet of some sort, perhaps silver. Success! He smiled to himself and made his way back to the sand bar. He gave himself a few minutes to rest up before beginning the trip back home with his new treasure.
