It was early afternoon and Jhin was waiting for Kyril with a picnic basket in hand. The ranger had been busy taking care of things as the new head of the village and honestly it left him with little time for his wife or their children. It was crazy how quickly time seemed to fly by but here they were. Jhin could only shake his head as he straightened up the basket on his arm again, his gaze searching for Kyril as he lingered in the clearing near their home. “Kyril?” He called out quietly as he glanced about for her.

Kyril finished tucking her hair back into its braid, the style a bit more complex than the simple braid she had taken to wearing whenever she was working in the small forge by their home. The several braids had been tied across her teal hair and decorated with crystal flowers that she had crafted herself with glass and precious metals. A little bit of kohl and there we go. She wasn’t certain why she was nervous about a date with Jhin, but here she was. After having four children together who were thankfully being watched by another family for the day, there truly shouldn't be anything that she could be worried about. Kyril shook her head slightly at her own silliness before straightening her tunic, the embroidered material almost like a short dress save for the slits in the sides and the chocolate leather leggings beneath. It would be silly to try and walk through the forest in her formal Oban wear after all. “He’s definitely looking for me already.” She chastised herself before finally leaving the house and heading outside to meet Jhin. “Sorry, I’m late!”

“No problem.” Jhin let out a relieved sigh before pausing at the sight of his wife. “You look lovely.” He acknowledged with a small smile, his hand reaching out to help her down the slight incline leading towards the bridge that cut across the stream. He couldn’t resist kissing her before tucking her arm through his own so that he could be her support as they walked along. Even though it had been a few years since the accident that had forced Kyril to stay within the village, the hybrid’s leg had never healed properly because of the shattered bone and she still had issues walking for long periods of time.
“I was thinking about a clearing near the waterfalls, is that okay?”

“That works.” A light flush decorated Kyril’s cheeks as she walked alongside Jhin. “A date by the waterfalls. I hope you also brought some nice wine.” She teased lightly as she glanced along the path, her gaze taking in all of the crystal leaves that shimmered like little rainbows in the spots of sunlight. Thick ivy grew along the rougher areas ahead of them, the rocky cliffs decorated in teal and violet flowers that left a heavy fragrance in the air. Kyril had to admit it was lovely and that she lately took inspiration from such sights for her own work as she transitioned from ocean and desert life to the forest one.

“Of course.” Jhin chuckled. “I brought your favorite red wine.” He helped to navigate them up towards the cliff, making certain to take his time as he kept Kyril from stumbling across any loose rocks or foliage. Eventually they emerged at the top of the cliff and Jhin set the blanket down for them to sit on and started to unpack the basket. “Cheese, fruits and bread. Nothing too fancy minus the wine.” He admitted as he helped Kyril to settle down next to him.

“That’s fine by me.” Kyril smiled as she helped to set out their little spread. “I mostly came for the wine….and the company I suppose.” She teased lightly as she glanced over at her husband. “It’s always so beautiful here.” The waterfalls that cascaded from the forest into Sauti were always lovely and she had come here once before with Jhin during the night time on a full moon to see rainbows at the base of the biggest waterfall. If she could, she would love to come again to see such a sight. Maybe if they were lucky tonight…Kyril smiled before lighting several candles in glass orbs for Jhin to set around their little area. The scented oil within the candles would keep insects away and the flames would help to light the area for them whenever the sun began to set.

“You suppose.” Jhin replied with a slight shake of his head before finally sitting down next to Kyril and grabbing an apple for himself. “I’ll leave the wine for a bit then since I don’t want you to leave too early.” He joked lightly as he took a bite of the fruit and let out a soft sigh of contentment. “We really should try to come out here more often.” He admitted quietly after a moment, the gentle bird calls and sounds of the rushing water relaxing after weeks of stressful work.

“”Mmhmm.” Kyril laughed as she went ahead to reach for the bottle to serve herself. “I promise I won’t leave. There’s still a lot of things I’d like to do tonight while we’re alone in the quiet.” She mused playfully as she poured a glass for both of them. The hybrid brought her own drink up to her lips before stopping for a moment, thoughtfully. “What do you think of our family?”

“Our family?” Jhin paused as he held onto the crystal glass. “What do you mean, Kyril?” Was there something wrong? He knew that he had been busy as of late leaving Kyril to mostly take care of their children but surely she would have told him if something was going on. Worry made him crease his brow as he glanced back towards his wife.

Kyril shook her head before taking a sip of her wine. “I didn’t mean to worry you.” She admitted after a moment, pondering her words. “Nor do I want to make the date seem less about us.” The hybrid pursed her lips thoughtfully as she held onto her wine glass. “I just was thinking about everything and how my family is large and I know you were always jealous of your cousins…would it be horrible to imagine maybe trying for more children?” She wasn’t one to dance around the subject and was honestly blunt and to the point. Wouldn’t it be best to have everyone be around similar ages instead of doing a horribly large gap? She loved her family but there were moments when she felt so disconnected from the youngest because at that point both her and Koril were already exploring the world on their own.

“You…want…more children.” Jhin blinked and set down his glass before laughing. “Well, I suppose I can’t say that I haven’t thought about it either.” He grinned towards Kyril. “My mother’s family was large and according to everyone she had always wanted a large family of her own…it was unfortunate that she passed away so young.” His gaze shifted guilty as he thought about how she had died without even getting to know her own child or even having the chance to have more children. “Maybe it wouldn’t be such a horrible idea to try.”

“Jhin.” Kyril reached over and placed her hand on top of his own. “You couldn’t do anything to change what happened, but I think she would be happy to see what you have now. You’re having the family she always wanted.” Her heart ached for him and she simply wanted to comfort him. Kyril found herself squeezing his fingers at the thought. “Obviously you don’t have to feel pressured and our children are already amazing…it was simply a thought.”

“A good thought.” Jhin shook his head as a small smile appeared on his lips. “Thank you, Kyril.” He squeezed her fingers in return before drinking his glass of wine quickly so that he could place it to the side. “However, if that’s the case then we should make the most of this evening alone. These dates are rare now as it is.” He found himself teasing as he moved closer to his wife so that he could tug her into his lap, his hands curving around the back of her neck as he brought her closer for a kiss.

“Jh-Jhin!” A laugh left Kyril as she discarded the rest of her wine so that she could settle in her husband’s lap. “I suppose now is as good a time as any.” She teased quietly as she leaned into the kiss, her arms circling around his waist as she returned the attention. It seemed that they definitely would be staying away for the night this time. Thankfully rangers were accustomed to setting up camp away from home. The thought brought a smile to her lips as she reached up to pull Jhin back for another kiss.
