Is there a dojo in your area?
I'm looking into taking kendo this summer, myself.

I was in Fencing for a while, I think there are a few Kendo Dojos around here too, but I'm not really interested in trying it out now. I am interested in martial arts involving swords, I'm just not sure which one.

I am going to take fencing in the fall (mwahaha college rocks) which although it is not asian, it will help me get a handle on the basics of all sword fighting. (ie: How not to make myself look stupid)Me and my friends plan to get together and spar. I don't think there is a dojo near me, I could be wrong, I should look that up.

uryu ishida the three types of swords:katna(longsword),wakazashi(short shord),and tanto(big knife.about a foot long including handle) I'm actually into the shirasaya forms of those swords... Shirasaya's are really appealing to me... If you aren't sure what a Shirasaya is, this is the kinda sword used by Goemon from Lupin the Third. Apparently when the Meiji Restoration came remaining Samurai would carry shirasaya at their sides posing them as mere sticks or canes as publicly carrying swords around became outlawed by then... Those kinda samurai were prolly the ones infamous for slaying ppl on the streets... 辻斬り (tsujigiri) they were called... pirate
