Celadonite was feeling pretty good about himself. The designs for Ei were turning out fantastic and he was eager to hear her opinions on them, and his project for Faustite was going well too…it was a surprise, so he had to make sure he finished it…before the cold weather left.
He should make something for his himbo…but he just wasn’t sure what. Honestly, it didn’t really matter what it was, so long as it had a window for the world to look upon those pecs.
The lieutenant grinned to himself and nearly walked into someone in an unfamiliar uniform who had…pink skin…
“s**t! You’re either one of those Velencians, or you’ve been in the sun for way too long, and if that’s the case, you should get some aloe…though I’m not sure they’d even have it out yet…”
He looked the male over and noticed the pointed ears poking out from his hair, and for a moment, felt utterly curious and rather excited. “No, no you have to be one of the Velencians! This is so cool! Can I touch your ear? Is it real?”
Not his most suave moment, but it wasn’t every day that you met an actual alien.

No, no, no. Andreiya was done with Earthlings. He wouldn’t even be out right now if his greenhouse didn’t need a little extra tending, and he knew he probably wasn’t properly representing the Vanguard by being so cowardly but he didn’t want trouble.
He almost seemed to wince at the voice, and drew away just slightly. “Please do not,” he said, and instinctively raised a hand up to cover the closest ear just in case. He didn’t expect humans to be respectful, anyway. He wasn’t sure they had the capacity for empathy. He thought his plants might have been kinder. They never hurt him, or spat on him. He’d healed himself as quickly as he could so the others wouldn’t see and ask questions, but it was still tender and he was still afraid of being hit again.
It wasn’t very brave. If he wasn’t so sure of the Commodore, he might have thought he’d made a mistake in promoting him.
“I want no trouble with the Negaverse. I am going to leave as soon as my Commodore says we can. I am not trying to take over Earth. And I do not want to hurt anyone.”
Not that words meant anything, he knew they didn’t care. He was already wondering how long it would take him to get his blaster, fire, and just take off.

Celadonite paused and took a step backwards, nodding. “No worries! I won’t get into your zone, promise. I don’t want any trouble either…I’m just excited to finally meet one of you.” He held his hands up to chest height, showing that they were empty, that he meant no harm. “...You okay? You seem really…spooked?”
Damn…were they all like this? Freaked out to be on Earth? Wanting to leave it for their fake little home up in space?
“You…hate this planet so much that you want to leave already? I mean, I know it’s a crappy place most of the time, but there are good parts. I’d like to be your friend, if you’re interested. My name’s Celadonite, and yeah, I’m a member of the Negaverse. Super important and well loved…” He snorted, unable to even deliver that with a straight face, and then after a moment, summoned his weapon, grinning sheepishly. “They trust me with such a powerful dangerous child’s toy for my weapon. At least it’s cute!”

Andreiya seemed tense when Celadonite summoned his weapon–he didn’t know what it could do! Maybe it was meant to be misleading. Maybe it was meant to be a trap.
“If you are so important in the Negaverse, you should tell people to stop attacking me,” he said quietly, under his breath and obviously a bit bitter. “I am tired of everyone saying I am a monster just because I am here. Nobody knows me and I am blamed for things I did not have control over. I do not hate Earth, I just do not like the people on it. You have all attacked me. The ‘White Moon’ and the Negaverse. And I have done nothing. This is not my home. I miss my home.”
He sucked in a breath, held it, and then crossed his arms over his chest. “I am just mad. I am afraid I am going to be attacked, constantly. No matter what I am doing. Why do you want to be my friend?”

Wincing slightly, Celadonite sighed. “I’m not actually…important at all. That was just bluster. I’m still low rank cannon fodder, to be honest. Here,” He held out the toy, nodding at the stuffed polar bear. “Want to squeeze the bear? It’s squishy and I end up doing it when I’m frustrated. That…sounds like a lot, and you don’t seem like a monster at all. You’re just someone who’s homesick.”
He gave a small smile. “I’d like to be your friend because you’re someone new. Someone exciting. And like I said, I’ve wanted to talk to someone from your group for a while, and you’re the first one, so…I want to make sure that I leave a good impression. I will say though, the people of Earth are complicated, you’re not wrong about that. Everyone has their own thoughts and ideas of how things should be…and it’s not fair that they’re prejudiced against you just because you’re not from here. You seem like a really nice guy to me.”
Hesitating, Celadonite tilted his head. “What’s your home like?”

Andreiya was quiet for a few seconds, but he reached to accept the bear and he squeezed. It didn’t explode. It didn’t hurt him. It just squeezed. So, he squeezed it a few more times.
“You will have to work very hard to make a good impression,” he mumbled, now examining the toy. “I have not have a good time recently. My name is Andreiya,” he finally introduced. “And I am nice. I grow flowers, and vegetables, and herbs. And I just want to figure out how you make your plants grow so I can try and make them grow on Velenia. That’s not my homeworld, but that’s where my people are from. I was born on Velencya. But now the Commodore says it’s sick and dying and we have to try and save it. Or figure out how to save Velenia, so we can have a home that can sustain us. My home is very nice, though. It is busy and clean and calm and everyone likes each other, and no one spits on each other. And when they get mad, they have conversation and talk it out and no one gets hurt feelings.”
Once more, he squeezed the toy, and then he handed it back. “I think that is not a weapon. It is very nice, though, thank you. How do you fight with it?”

He nodded, listening with obvious interest, “I hope that you’ll be able to bring your knowledge back, If I can help with anything…I doubt I can, I’m not really…science focused. I design clothes, so if you wanted me to design you something, I’m more than happy to.”
Celadonite laughed softly and then nodded when his weapon was returned. “No, this isn’t a weapon at all…but that’s what they give us to begin with. I guess they figure while we’re still learning…we’ll end up hurting ourselves if we had something more…useful. But. I make do. Normally I throw it? And keep holding on to the string. If I’m lucky, I can swing it around and hit whoever I’m fighting but. It’s messy and I do end up hitting myself in the face more than I’d like to admit. What do you fight with? You said that you’ve been hurt by senshi and my guys…do you have any way to defend yourself? They didn’t just…throw you here without protection, right?”

Andreiya looked a bit flustered, suddenly. “Of course I have a weapon,” he said, and pulled his blaster from its holster. He didn’t point it at Celadonite but he held it like he could have fired at any moving target. “But if I shoot them, then they can say I attacked them. And then my Commodore might be disappointed in me. I do not want to make his life harder! He works so hard already. And he promoted me, I cannot be a disappointment.”
Except, he felt like one already, and sighed heavily.
“It is difficult to find the right course of action here. I do not like it. I have not even fired my weapon at an enemy. I have trained! Maybe I have not trained enough,” he sighed. “How do you train? How do you get stronger? It sounds like they have thrown you out here without protection.”

“Well, I go to the gym a lot, and try to make sure that my hand to hand combat is up to snuff,” Celadonite’s eyes lingered on the blaster and he had a clear expression of longing on his face. “You get an actual weapon, that is so cool...but. What happens when you can’t reach your blaster? If someone gets too close that it’s impossible to use it? Do you have hand to hand experience?”
He banished his own weapon and held his hands out, planting his feet in a firm stance. “Punch my hand. Let me see how strong your punches are. Maybe we can go to the gym together sometimes too, get some boxing lessons or something. Get you more well rounded in combat things? And then ruin all of our hard work by getting something good to eat after. Seems like a great trade.”
He grinned, though honestly…hoped that he could do something to help this sad alien. It wasn’t fair that he felt so badly about himself and his skills.

Andreiya was guarded about all of this–going to hang out with a Negaverse while they weren’t in uniform? Asking to be punched? What if someone saw, what if this was a trick to make it look like he was attacking the Negaverse?
For a moment, he shifted on his feet, and he gradually felt his defenses being worn away by Celadonite’s encouraging smile.
“Maybe,” he said cautiously, “But I am a very picky eater. I am strong, I know how to fight,” he insisted. He knew these things were true! He got excellent marks on his tests!
He pursed his lips and drew his hand back into a fist and–like Celadonite told him to do!–he punched him, hard, in his open palm.
He had good aim, he had good posture, he had good strength.
“I can fight, I am not useless!” he insisted–maybe to the agent. Maybe to himself. “Do you want me to shoot you, too?”

Celadonite nodded, shaking his hand after the punch landed. “Damn! You are strong, Andreiya! You’re right about that. You can punch better than I can. Kudos to you for that.” He laughed softly, looking pleased by the fact. Good. He looked like he had a bit more confidence now. That was good. Confidence was always the best way to move forwards. “If you want to shoot me, that’s fine! Show me your aim with your blaster. I’m down for it….”
He hesitated and held up a finger. “...Unless like. I’m going to die from it…if I’m going to die from it, that’s…a little different, and I’m not down for dying. I have way too much to do and don’t have the time to be dying right now.”
Besides, Faustite and Albite would miss him. Hopefully. And he didn’t want Faustite to be any more unhappy than he already was.

Andreiya almost looked excited now, like he was maybe having a little bit of fun. “No! I will not kill you. Here, I will turn down the power on my blaster. It will tingle when I hit you, so you will know that I have hit you. It will not hurt. Look,” he fiddled with his blaster for just a second and then held up his hand in front of it and fired right into his palm.
He shook his hand but wiggled all his fingers and held it up for examination. “It tingles. But it does not hurt. You need to run fast, though. I have very good aim. I will shoot you many times.”
He planted his feet firmly on the ground and put his hands on his hips; he lowered his blaster and seemed like he was waiting for the agent to get a move on.

Oh, well. Okay. Celadonite nodded. “Yeah, all right then! Hit me if you can!” He grinned and began running, zig zagging in the hopes of messing up Andreiya’s aim, laughing as he did so. He had to be feeling better, and that…was cool. Celadonite could make people feel better after all, and that was something he was kind of proud of.
“Come on, Andy! Don’t hold back!”

Celadonite was fast, but not fast enough; Andreiya held up his blaster and aimed, firing almost immediately. The blast hit him square in the back, and true to Andreiya's word, it did just tingle. It gave enough pressure that he could feel where it had made impact, but not enough to knock him off balance or hurt.
The only downside to Andreiya's weapon was that it had to recharge, so he waited impatiently until he could fire again, and as soon as he could he fired again, this time hitting him in the thigh.
"You are very wiggly! My blaster has to recharge." He could throw rocks! Oh, but those would probably hurt. He waited with his blaster and shook it a little bit as if that would help it recharge quicker.

He laughed, squirming when the first blast hit, it felt almost like his back had fallen asleep, that…was such an odd place to have fall asleep that he couldn’t quite figure out if he liked the sensation or not. And when the second one hit his thigh, yes…that was more familiar and Celadonite stumbled, still laughing. “I’m trying to be wiggly! It’s to disorientate you, but damn, you have some good aim!”
Finally, the lieutenant turned back, rubbing his thigh. “You want me to keep running? How long do you have to wait between charges? That’s kind of lame, but I get it.”
Celadonite was still laughing softly and began to walk back towards his friend. “Nah, you honestly have nothing to worry about that I can see. You’re in fine form. Nothing that happened was your fault, and you can’t make everyone happy…it sucks, but…humans suck sometimes. You are worthy of your position though, if you wanted reassurance. Because, you’re a fantastic soldier.”
