11 - 20: Lucky Lucky! You seem to have struck gold...or something similar. Use the second roll to calculate your results...and add +5 to the number.

25: Unbelievable! How did you not notice the amount of gemstones in the water? Now that you look at it, they shimmer and shine a rainbow of colors. You've struck rich...and wonder how they all got here as you search for a bag to hold to prize.

Noelani held the strange contraption in her hands as she wandered along the edges of the river. The hybrid had finally ventured away from her home in Matori to see the world for herself and had already gotten caught up in the excitement of those who had advertised the tool that could scoop gemstones out of water. She personally was much more accustomed to diving into the deep ocean for pearls and rare treasures, but the idea of trying this new thing was interesting and Noelani figured that it was worth a shot at least. Keeping her hood high on her head, her Elaria features neatly tucked away as she made her purchase and gathered a few more supplies in the local store before venturing back into the wilderness, Noelani kept her cloak tightly around her body until she finally saw the river.

Now that she was confident that there shouldn't be others nearby, the hybrid unclasped the cloak and allowed it to fall at her feet. "Now let's see..." She mused quietly to herself as she tucked her travel satchel beneath the gray material and picked up the sifter once more. It was almost tempting to just dive into the waters to swim and see what she could find beneath the surface that way but the merchant had suggested wading first and gathering as much sand with the tool as possible. Apparently one had to shake the dirt free from the contraption and whatever precious metal or gemstones where hidden beneath would be revealed then. "Let's see how lucky I can be." Worst case she could go diving later once her supply of ocean pearls ran low since that was what she mainly traded to pay for her travels while heading around Matori and towards Oba.

Theriar 1

Theriar had originally been doing a bit of river fishing but he had not had much luck all day. His mind wandered as it was wont to do and he decided to get a little closer to the river with the beat up old gold pan he carried with him on river adventures. Folks had been having some lick lately and he wanted to get in on that action.

He had purchased the old pan off a trader who had said he had got it from an old guy who was quitting the homestead life for town. Theriar thought that the old bent thing had a decent amount of character.

Noelani's pale green gaze skimmed over the surface of the river. She wasn't certain if it was the brilliant sunlight on the water or if there was actually a gleam beneath the surface but the hybrid figured it would not hurt to go and try out the spot that shined the brightest. Unfortunately that meant going into the water, more towards the middle and so with one final glance about Noelani took off her outer tunic and boots to save them from getting wet. Well here goes nothing. Sticking her bare feet into the water, Noelani slipped in with just her undershirt and leggings so that she could move easier.

She dipped down beneath the water's surface with the wooden box and grabbed as much of the bottom silt that she could before emerging once more. Tossing her wet hair over a shoulder, the hybrid took a few steps towards shore before pausing with surprise. "Oh...oh!" A deep flush covered her cheeks as she realized she was caught while in the middle of the river with a stranger approaching. Still she wasn't about to run away, not that she could considering he was closer to her belongings than she currently was, but more so that she was genuinely curious to see another hybrid with Aishan blood in the area. Her surprise kept her almost frozen in the middle of the river as she simply held onto the strange contraption full of river silt and waited to see if the stranger would continue walking along or notice her.

As he approached the river his gaze landed on the sole occupant of the river.

"Oh I am sorry!" He averted his gaze quickly. "I er came out treasure hunting and I thought this stretch of the river was deserted."

He bowed his head. Poor girl, he hadn't meant to startle her.
He hadn't noticed her contraption, just the fact that she had lovely eyes and that she had stripped down to her skivvies to enter the river.
"I won't trouble you anymore, I'll head up river."

He began to walk away swiftly, his face flushing as well.

She was frozen with shock, shyness making her cheeks darken to a deep violet. Noelani found herself opening her mouth and then closing it as his apology slowly sank in. Did he think he had bothered her? It was honestly more surprise than anything. "N-no wait!" She stuttered, moving forward against the current with her wooden box full of silt that shimmered somewhat in the sunlight. She didn't mean to make him feel unwelcome, but it was just surprising that she had run into someone else out here.

"I don't mind sharing." She explained as she finally got closer, her lithe body accustomed to moving through water. Noelani simply wasn't the best at socializing and so it took a moment for her to get her voice, but she was determined to be more confident. What sort of treasure hunter shied away from others so easily after all? This was her chance to be bold and to maybe even make a friend from the encounter. "I've never used this thing before but maybe it's better to work together? I think I saw a bunch of gemstones up this river and I can't carry them all as it is." She explained quickly her gaze darting from the stranger and back towards the water, shyness combating with her desire to be brave.

He paused, noticing the contraption she had for the first time. Strange usually he was more observant. "Oh well, if you need help..." He walked out to her in the river.

"Where did you see them?" He asked. The water felt lovely, he was already happier because of it. Land was fine so long as it was close to water. He wondered how his big journey was going to go. Maybe he could kind of sail around and only have to go inland when neccessary.

"Lovely day out today for a treasure hunt, I assume you heard all the rumors too?" He smiled and offered to help her with the awkward thing. Might be easier with two.

She had anetennae too, like him but judging from the skin tone, that new tree Elzira had come of age. They had more in common than he had thought. "Did you see much of Elzira if you don't mind me asking? Its not every day I come across a fellow hybrid. My family were hybrids themselves so I never did get to see the tree." He hadn't gone in the years since either but he thought he just might one of these days.

Noelani frowned thoughtfully as the stranger approached. "Well I figured it made more sense to share. No need for me to take this whole river by myself." It wasn't as if she wanted to seem unable to take care of it herself, but the hybrid was trying to be nice. Not that she was offended, but more so that she was just reminding herself that she could do this even on her own. That was the whole purpose of her finally leaving home - to prove that she could handle adventuring and finding treasure without being kept in a bubble back in Matori. Still, at least the stranger was willing to help her which was nice. Noelani smiled with appreciation before gesturing around them. "I think I saw a lot in that area. I scooped up some silt already and..." She tilted the contraption back and forth, her lips pursed in concentration before shaking and rinsing off the outer dirt to reveal several gleaming gemstones.

"Looks like it's more than just rumors, but yes it is a lovely day." Noelani teased as she picked a few gemstones out and placed them into the satchel hanging at her side. She had tightened the straps so that it rested a bit higher than normal against her side and relied upon the soft leather exterior with beeswax to protect against water. It was a perfect place to store the gemstones but even then she was worried that too many could weigh the satchel and herself down too much, which was not the best idea especially in a river like this.

"I..." Noelani blinked in surprise at the direct question. "You're definitely not shy with very direct questions." She found herself admitting after a moment, her gaze moving from the gemstones to study the other hybrid. "I've actually never seen Elzira nor any Elaria for that matter...you're the second Aishan hybrid I've actually ever met. My mother prefers to stay in Matori and doesn't really do much with her relatives." It was a bit complicated from what she had gathered and honestly Noelani had never truly questioned it. If anything she knew that they were super protective of her because of her Elarian blood, something that many did not trust at first save for those closest to her family in the nearby village. "Maybe one day I'll see the tree, but I'm not certain. I suppose I'll just see with time." Her expression was almost sad before she forced a warm smile towards the stranger. There was no need to dampen the mood with her mother's complicated past! Just because she didn't know her Elarian roots didn't mean she had a bad childhood, if anything Noelani was loved in Matori by her earthling relatives and that was good enough for her.

"I suppose since we're already getting to know more about each other I should tell you my name. I'm Noelani and thank you again for your help. If you're being direct then I suppose I will be as well." She started as she shifted so that she could stand next to the stranger and allow him to help with the contraption. She was ready to pull up another heavy load of river silt and was grateful to have someone to help pull up the weight. Her earlier haul had been a lot lighter since she was alone, but now Noelani felt more confident about scooping up as much as possible. "So you are Alkidike then with other blood? I've only ever seen Matori really along with a few Obans...honestly you're the first person that I've ever seen that looks....well as unique as me. Not that it's a bad thing! You're very handsome after all..." Her words stumbled out as she tried to cover up her embarrassment, her cheeks darkening as she focused again on gathering the gemstones from the river. It also didn't help that he was standing right next to her, a realization that had her cheeks darkening even more, and Noelani could only hope that she hadn't offended him by rambling.

Perhaps he had quite just started her. Poor thing. She seemed to cheer up a bit though and didn't run screaming in the other direction. Not that that happened often, he hid his smile. Most people who were not expecting him just stared and he stared back.

"Very well done! Do you happen to treasure hunt for a living? I rather think that you will far outstrip the rest of us."

"I'm afraid I am not as used to rivers as I am the sea. It's great salty heart entirely holds mine, but I do love water of all sorts. A river dip is just what I need to get more familiar with them. "

"I am sorry about my abruptness, I'm afraid being a fisherman makes me more adept at translating wind and tide than it does small talk." He blushed. "I see, I guess my curiousity will go unanswered until I actually make the trek to Aisha, I just fee strange being a half blood but not from the tree herself you know." He hadn't talked about that to well...anyone.

"My name is Theriar. And yes my parent's parents were both Ice and Alkidike. A little bit rarer and a little bit more complicated then normal. I love them so much. They are getting a bit elderly now and Dad has had the bad leg for a very long time. I worry."
"Well, er thank you." He smiled, blushing furiously. He was too old for this. Onora was going to laugh at him. "You are quite lovely too."

"I'm sure one day you will find someone special. It took me a very long time but I think I found a keeper, and she is a great cook." His stomach rumbled comedically.

"Don't mind me, I work hard and I'm always hungry. I really did just eat not too long ago."

Noelani's lips curved upwards into an amused smile. "I suppose you can say that. My family prefers diving for pearls but I've started to explore more for other treasures." It was something that her parents did on the rare occasion but Noelani wanted to see even more of the world. A flush of excitement decorated her cheeks and made her gaze brighten as she thought about it, especially now that she had received praise from the stranger. Today's haul would definitely make affording a lot of her journey easier too! So it definitely felt like the ocean goddess was blessing her now.

Ah, another ocean native? Noelani blinked with surprise before nodding her agreement. "I was born and raised in Matori so the waves will always have my heart. I would love to go on a voyage to hunt for more treasures, but I'm new to all of this...traveling." She glanced sheepishly around them, her gaze studying the water as she searched for more spots of treasure. "It looks like the goddess is helping me out though since this should definitely help me to find someone with a ship."

Her expression softened as Theriar revealed more about himself. "Oh." She shook her head quickly. "The abruptness is fine. I am just not accustomed to it or really talking to many people actually. My family kept me away from most considering well...my Elaria heritage. I hope it's not rude to say that I sort of understand that complicated and rare situation. But even if it is complicated it sounds like you truly love your family and as my grandmother says age is just a sign that you have been around long enough to gather many experiences to fill your heart, especially if you have dear friends and family." Her cheeks darkened even more at the other compliment. "Ah, thank you." Her family had always said she was lovely but this was the first time a stranger had actually complimented her! It was a nice but complex feeling that made her both happy and almost skittish at the same time.

Her expression did shift with confusion at the comment before a small smile crossed her lips. It was both a bit amusing and embarrassing to realize that she may have been a bit too friendly with the compliment when she was flustered earlier. "I didn't mean to seem if I was making advances...I just...well I suppose I do have a lot to learn still when talking with others. I'm happy for you though. Maybe one day I'll find someone but I'm just happy exploring and maybe making new friends." Noelani laughed at the sound of Theriar's hunger, the sound soft as it escaped her lips. "I suppose we can finish gathering some gemstones. Surely we can afford a nice meal in the nearby town with this haul." She advised as she started to move towards another pile of gemstones, her cheeks still slightly flushed as she tried to move past her tangle of emotions and continue forward.

He froze, his memories of Trelenwy overwhelming him for a moment. The pearls pierced into his feelers were some that his old girlfriend had farmed herself. He blunked and reburried the memories under the present. That had been a long time ago and he had Onora now, there was no sense dwelling on the past. He refocused on his present company.

"Well, you found me, and I have a ship. A predominantly fishing vessel but she sails at a goodly clip. I helped another local look for rare plants on a few island and I must say that I rather enjoyed it. I personally want to go on a quest to talk with fishermen from outside Matori about their fishing practices to see if I can change my own style up some and make improvements."

"Your grandmother is very wise indeed. She sounds like a great woman."

He blushed too. "I just didn't want any misunderstandings, think nothing of it, I too am out of practice with socializing.

He wandered a little ways from her and pulled on a rock, with a thchonk it came free from the river bed and he saw what had attracted him was a bevy of emerald locked into the rock.

"Woo!" He said excitedly, returning to her with his prize and taking his station back up again and helping her. "You were not kidding about this stretch of the river." He tucked the stone and its hoard of shinies into his satchel.

"Oh?" Noelani's gaze widened with surprise. It truly seemed like the ocean goddess had blessed her today! "Well I suppose if you ever wanted to venture a bit further for things other than fishing I would be willing to help split more treasures." She promised with a small smile. Theriar seemed nice and had been friendly enough for her to want to take a risk. Why not sail with someone who had been willing to spend an afternoon hunting gems together without being up to any tricks or the like? It was definitely more appealing than going in blind with some complete stranger who may not get along with her as well. And maybe they could even find some crazy exotic fish if they traveled as far as the new islands. Noelani had heard so many tales and would love to see what precious treasures awaited her near the ocean with the Kahi. Maybe Theriar would feel the same?

"It looks like we have a lot of gemstones to gather first." She commented with a laugh as he brought the emerald over and started to help her again. Already her wooden box was full of more gleaming gemstones, her bag getting heavier by the minute. This would most definitely afford quite a few travel essentials! "This can afford a really good meal and lots of supplies if you're venturing to the nearby town?" She found herself asking almost sheepishly. "If you would be interested in going on some overseas adventures I would be willing to talk details over some food." If not then maybe they could at least walk to the next town together while she gathered more supplies and looked for a ship. Surely there had to be some other adventurers nearby, right? Noelani bit her lip thoughtfully as she started to sort through more gemstones, the shining gemstones already giving her hope that she would have good fortune in her upcoming travels.

"More capital is always a good thing, I am indeed in need of an adventure, least my intellect grow stagnant."

His adventures would not be so boring with company, and she seemed more than pleasant.

"I could eat." He grinned. Treasure hunting was hungry work indeed.

"Can't hurt to chat about it ither and at least our meat time talk will not be boring. Planning adventures never is."

"You will certainly earn enough coin today to get the fastest ship out there if need be."

He was happy that he seemed to have made a new friend/adventure buddy.

"Understandable. The last thing we would want is for anyone's intellect to grow stagnant." Replied Noelani playfully, her confidence growing the longer she spent time with Theriar. He was friendly and seemed eager to go on adventures together which made her feel more secure as she tried to channel her parents' energy, the charisma that she had always wanted but couldn't use since she was hidden away for most of her childhood.

She nodded at the idea of food and discussion. It seemed that they had a plan then! "I mean all of this is not just me." Noelani managed as she continued to gather the gleaming gemstones in the river that were nearby, her arms burning from using the sifter over and over but somehow becoming more comfortable with the movements at the same time. "You said you had a ship but surely if the vessel needed any maintenance that's an easy fix now." She mused happily as she finished gathering all that she could with her satchel bag bulging with the gemstones.

"I'm ready whenever you are." She managed as she prepared to move out of the stream, gathering her belongings so that she could slip her dry clothing back on for the trip to the nearby town. Already her mind was spinning with all the possibilities of adventure and whatever other treasures awaited out there in the unknown.

Theriar 7

He was happy to see she was relaxing. He found that he had that effect on young people now. In his youth he had been much more edgy, but that came with having parents that were accosted when he had been very small and helpless. He was proficient in many weapons and martial styles, and perhaps because of his families past chose a path in life that was not violent at all.

He found he liked helping young people come into their own. "Awwww! Thank you, she might need a fresh coat of waterproofing, but well she is a new vessel. My original smaller, slower ship was stolen by rotten pirates if you can believe it. I had to swim to shore. But it was that or be taken under their rotten power." She was really easy to talk too. He felt no shame at having lost his ship, but it had been a blow to his pride at the time.

He made sure his emerald rock was secure. He was planning on making something out of it he just wasn't sure what yet. He was quite pleased with his own special find of the day.

"Lets do it." He felt younger than he had in a long time at the prospect of adventure.
