Love is in the air and it is exhausting. It seems everyone is so excited to meet someone new and see if they 'click'. To the point where this new trend has spread across Tendaji - Blind Dates.
The concept is pretty simple - you have a friend (or a matchmaker) set up a date with someone you've never met before. Some find this exhilarating - a chance to go beyond the same old and meet someone new. But others see this as unnecessary anxiety forced upon them by their friends or society's pressure.
Either way, you find yourself set up on a date not of your choosing, with a stranger who you've never met before. This could either be the person of your dreams...or a big mistake. Guess the only thing you can do is see where this date takes you.

For those who are already in a relationship, it's hard to host a 'blind date', but you can get close. It's time to surprise your significant other with a night date, just the two of you. No family, no children, just a chance to spend time with the one you love.

With everything fluffed and primed, Faamy strutted into the tea house with confidence and a sassy sashay. She had no idea who she was meeting with, but she was determined to have this blind date go well. IEven if nothing came of the date, she was still going to have fun! A tea house wasn't exactly exciting in her mind, but it made for a good starting platform. They could always find something more interesting later!
She had heard about the trend and had been less than subtle in making her interest in the event clear to her associates. Singing at the local tavern was already a perfect way to meet new people, but this had so much more mystery and excitement to it! Y'know, honestly, the last thing Gabhan had expected when he got to the mainland, away from Belrea, was to somehow find himself wound up in some sort of dating scheme, and yet here he was. He hadn't had much success in finding gigs out here... namely because there were so many local artists or other traveling minstrels that were more appealing than one lone Geian. He needed a troupe, a band - something!
So a date was, honestly, a perfect distraction from the disappointment of traveling a continent away, and yet resorting to the same work he'd done back home - hard labor. He'd cleaned himself up, made sure his beard was trimmed, and pinned a flower (red petals and stem) to his shirt.
It'd been tempting to get ale or something stronger to settle his nerves, but Gabhan some more knowledgeable being had opted for a tea house, not a tavern. His eyes flicked to the door until... finally, it opened and a girl stepped inside.
He stayed rooted to his spot, eyes turned away, sipping at his tea in an effort to prepare himself - because she was pretty, and somehow he hadn't been ready for that!

Her eyes danced over the room. The tea house wasn't exactly large, so surely she wouldn't be too difficult to find. Unless... Considering there was only one person who seemed to be drinjing solo, she figured she would give it a try. With one more fluff of her hair and a hopeful smile, she walked over to the bar and leaned against it, cocking her head at the Geian sipping his tea. "I don't suppose a handsome guy like yerself is here fer a blind date?"

Gabhan wasn't sure what he was expecting, but playing oblivious had only bought him a few moments of extra time. He emptied his cup, and had only just set the delicate porcelain cup down when the girl was next to him, leaning against the table, smiling prettily.
She was wearing the green dress and the flower in her hair, just like he'd been told - but she was incredibly pretty, not the sort of lass he'd expected would need to participate in a blind date. When she spoke, there was a twang of an accent, peculiar but charming all at once, and despite his nervousness he grinned at her, turning to face her, stomach swirling with butterflies. "Right - a blind date." He agreed, tapping at the flower pinned to his shirt. "Uh- tea? You want tea? I can get you some." He sat up a bit straighter and peered around for the server, but she was busy at another table - so instead he motioned towards the seat opposite him. "I'm Gabhan, by the way. Hello."

"I will take tea, yeah." Faamy's expression warmed with sweet amusement. It seemed like he was a little uncertain of himself, and it was too cute! With the confirmation of the flower pin though, she relaxed further and helped herself to the indicated seat. With her full figure settled in, she turned her full attention to her date. She had a very similar thought to her new companion, surprised that he was apparently single. "Name's Faamy. Pleasure ta meet ya, Gabhan." She glanced at his cup, brow knitting the softest bit. "I hope yeh weren't kept waitin' fer too long. I trust it's good?"

Oh. When she first came over he hadn't picked up on the twang of her speech, but now that she was talking more - it was charming. Enough so that he felt guilty for hiding from her when she first came in, so when she looked so concerned he sat up a bit straighter and quickly gesticulated in the negative with his hands, shaking his head emphatically. "No! No, I just drank it fast, I swear - oh! Hello, more tea please, and those little biscuits maybe?
He turned his attention to the server as she came over, looking between the two with quiet amusement. "Sure thing."
She bustled away, and Gabhan settled back in his seat again. "Sorry if I'm a bit surprised, just - this whole 'blind date' thing isn't anything I've heard of before, I half expected it was a prank they pulled on people just off the ship, right?"

Faamy giggled and smiled apologetically, and gave a dismissive wave of her hand. "It's fine, really. I'da just felt bad if ya'd been waitin' 'round on me. I'd hate ta do that to a nice lookin' feller like you." Her grin instantly turned playful and she leaned her elbows on the table to give Gahban her full attention.
She nodded along as he talked, hair bouncing with the movements. "I get it. New can be scary, but also excitin', yeah? I been on a few, but this'll be the first where it's someone so completely new." Indeed, there was usually a friend in the middle setting her up with someone they knew. This was entirely blind! "So ye're fresh over here from Belrea, I take it? What brought ya over ta these parts?"

Nice looking? Gabhan wasn't new to compliments - he was used to tipsy girls in taverns he used to play at coming up to him, flirtatious and pretty. In his experience, he'd politely grin and shoot back a few compliments, but try his best to stay professional, which wasn't difficult because many of the women who flirted were people he knew, from either growing up in the area or they were young women his father was seeking to marry him, or one of his many siblings, off to.
But this was a compliment from someone new, and he was flattered and appreciative of the attention, even if he wasn't quite sure how to handle it. "I'm sure it'd be worth the wait, for someone so lovely." He shot back. He'd hoped it be smooth, but the uncertain tremor in his voice probably made it awkward.
Thank goodness she was willing to give him something else to focus on. "Yep! Just a few weeks here! I came to play, but my instrument was destroyed in a bar fight before I left so I'm just working up until I can get a new one." Not... a bar fight, exactly. But he didn't think he wanted to go into all of THAT.

Faamy smiled sweetly and inclined her head in silent appreciation for the compliment. Similarly, she wasn't new to the realm of flattery. She often dished it out as much as she got it. It was refreshing to get it in this situation though... especially with that adorable tremble in Gabhan's tone.
At the mention of playing an instrument, Faamy's whole expression lit up even further. Minus the brief wince reaction to the precious instrument being broken. What monster would destroy an instrument? "Ya play, too?" she asked excitedly. "Whadda ya play? I might have some folk I can hook ya up with fer somethin' new."

Oh? Her entire demeanor shifted as soon as he mentioned his instrument, but then she explained - and ah!! Really? Just as she had, Gabhan brightened up at the news, leaning forward, large forearms braced against the table as if he might lunge to his feet with excitement at any minute. "You too?" He echoed, beaming. The shyness dropped away in lieu of meeting another performer. "It's-- called an oud. Actually, I never thought - I don't know if they have them on the continent..." His expression briefly dropped at the realization, before he shook himself and gave her his attention again. "I also know the lute, and some panpipe but I'm afraid I don't have the breathing skills for it, in the long run. I can perform a song then pass out for the next one, if you know what I mean."
He laughed, then gazed at her intently, still smiling, "And you? What do you play? I didn't peg you as a musician too - how lucky is that??"

Faamy could hardly believe her ears! In fact, she was breathless for just a moment before she pulled herself from her revere. Grinning brightly, she couldn't help giving the table an enthusiastic slap. "The oud! That's mah baby! Got if from my da. I play the lute, too. The djembe, the flute.. hmm. Gotta say, never used a panpipe b'fore." She gave him a coy smirk with a wink. "I bet I've got plenty o' breathin' skills fer it though." Her smile turned more sincere to show how pleased she really was with this turn of events. "I'mma say it's pretty lucky~"

So they did! Gabhan gaped for a moment, but then sagged in relief, grinning with the same breathless disbelief she had. The 'djembe' was foreign to him though, and piqued his interest, but it was clear they now had plenty to talk about. His cheeks tinged a bit at her joke, averting his eyes politely as he rubbed at his neck. "Sure - can say that again." He agreed, dismissing his previous flustered reaction so he could instead lean a bit forward over the table.
He was just happy she hadn't said something like it being 'fate' - Gabhan wasn't sure he'd be able to keep from tittering out a laugh at such a notion. ... But.
"Do you play with a group? Is it something that's just fun or -" Er-- was it 'polite' to ask her if she was a professional musician? His hands knotted a bit on the top of the table, and he sagged in relief when the waitress returned with her tea, and the biscuits. He pushed the plate forward towards her, then propped his elbow up, chin in hand, so he could watch her attentively.

Dang, was he adorable or what? Faamy chuckled lightly and nodded. "Fine, I will. It's pretty dang lucky~" Who would have thought that her blind date would actually turn out to have similar interests to her own?
She shook her head as she reached out for one of the biscuits. "Nah. Done a couple duos with other travelin' acts when the spark is there, but mostly solo. Been all over Tendaji. An' yerself? Sounds like yeh came over alone, but do yeh got a group on Belrea?" With a bite of the snack, she pulled one of the tea cups close as well and started preparing it just the way she liked it. It looked like this was going to be a date worth getting settled right in for!

Gabhan's eyes flicked down to her hand as she plucked up a biscuit, then back up to her face again. His cheeks darkened as he realized how... childish he must seem, compared to her. Someone who had actually traveled and been all over this strange new world already. Who had actually performed for people.
"Well ah-- I wouldn't call them a group--" He started, laughing. And with that, he dove further into the date - telling her all about the other farmers in his village that would play with him, at the local tavern, and how he'd started to want to do it for real.
Gabhan had a feeling he'd made an irreplaceable friend here, no matter how the rest of the... date went.
