Date Night

Love is in the air and it is exhausting. It seems everyone is so excited to meet someone new and see if they 'click'. To the point where this new trend has spread across Tendaji - Blind Dates.
The concept is pretty simple - you have a friend (or a matchmaker) set up a date with someone you've never met before. Some find this exhilarating - a chance to go beyond the same old and meet someone new. But others see this as unnecessary anxiety forced upon them by their friends or society's pressure.
Either way, you find yourself set up on a date not of your choosing, with a stranger who you've never met before. This could either be the person of your dreams...or a big mistake. Guess the only thing you can do is see where this date takes you.

For those who are already in a relationship, it's hard to host a 'blind date', but you can get close. It's time to surprise your significant other with a night date, just the two of you. No family, no children, just a chance to spend time with the one you love.
[ It's date night! This prompt should include a date with a stranger, either set up by your friends or by a matchmaker. If you're RPing your character with another, we ask that it be someone new (within reason to where your character is currently located). If you're RPing alone, create a new NPC and see where the night takes you.
Who knows, maybe this will be your character's future partner...or maybe an awkward enemy. What's the harm in the name of love?
For those who have characters already in a relationship, we're instead looking for a "Surprise Date" where one of the partners surprises the other with ad ate experience. ]

[ Esmeray 1 ] The young shifter was giddy as she found a new reason to get away from her mountain list of chores. Living in a small town meant rarely you got out or saw new faces, so when a traveling matchmaker came in to discuss a small event in a local clearing, Esmeray and her friends signed right up. Many were surprised that the homebody would offer to put herself in front of strangers, but getting out of work AND getting to experience something new was enough for her to push back her desire to keep closed in. Little did she know that this event required one on one, and when her friends had told her, her expression was enough to leave them cackling. Now, as they waited in the clearing and were given a number to a location, Esmeray felt herself get a small bit of anxiety while her friends wished her luck and rushed away.

With her hands clasped bashfully together, Seiong approached the designated clearing. She had only joined up because one of her sisters had talked her into it, but part of her had doubted that she would end up with any plans. The small Vandrea froze when she heard a group of feet running some distance away. Had she missed the proverbial boat? Maybe her date had run on without her..? Just in case.. she continued on to the clearing, surprised to see a lone shifter standing there. Was this her date? An earthling? She looked around to see if anyone else might be lingering, but there was no one. Huh... This was unexpected. Though, not unpleasantly so. "Are you Esmeray?" she asked, cautiously approaching the stranger with a hopeful smile.

[ Esmeray 2 ] Humming softly as she heard her name, Esmeray swung around with a flush of curls, her lightened eyes widening in surprise at the sight of the Aishan. Of course she had seen a few, mostly hybrids, swing through their small town. But never had she gotten close to them (having been raised as all but a recluse). Yet even she knew this was something special, someone new. Tilting her head, she let out a whoosh of air when she realized she hadn't replied. "Oh yes, yes! Hello." She said with a slightly tight smile, her stomach dropping with nerves as she wasn't surrounded by her posse, "You're..." Glancing at her note, "Seiong? Did I say that right?"

Seiong chewed on her lower lip as the silence stretched. Would this be too much for the earthling..? Ah, but then the reply! Was that date jitters or something else? "Yes, that is right," she answered with a small nod. She clasped her hands together, unconsciously trying to make herself smaller. She wasn't used to being the tall one! "You look about as nervous as I feel," she said with a giggle, hoping to alleviate some of the tension.

[ Esmeray 3 ] She forced out a laugh at the comment on nerves, before shaking her head as her tight curls bounced a moment, "Not quite nerves...just a small town jitters I guess." She finally said with a shrug, "Though don't get me wrong, I'm happy to be out and about and away from home..." At least for short bursts of time, Esmeray still enjoyed getting home and sleeping in her bed, and it was a wonder so many others decided on the open road. "Are you...from around here? I haven't seen many Aishans with your coloring...not that I see very many at all..."

Small town jitters? Seiong cocked her head curiously. "I haven't heard of 'jitters' before. They're not contagious, right?" It seemed doubtful that someone would be sick on a date, but it was best to ask first! "Oh!" Seiong straightened up proudly. "I was bloomed on Chiume with my sister. It's pretty far from here; it was a long trip. My mothers and my older sisters are from Chibale though. We've only been here a short time, but mama insisted visiting Jauhar was important."

[ Esmeray 4 ] She blinked a few seconds, before shaking her head quickly, "Oh no, no...jitters are like...well it's the energy that builds up when you are excited? You just have to move." She then laughed before adding, "Oh yeah, I guess they could be contagious." Then the conversation shifted to Chiume and Esmeray blushed a bit. She hadn't heard of Chiume, barely had known about Chibale. That was mostly in passing and warning. "I don't think I could leave home, I can't imagine your mothers being from Chibale and you from a different city. Do you think you'll stay for long?

Seiong raised a finger and tapped it against her lip. A build up of energy making you move... Okay, she could see that. "Oh, so contagious like a laugh is!" Emotions could certainly be contagious. She shook her head, the rings in her hair clinking slightly with the movement. "I was not certain when they asked us about going, but I have been enjoying myself greatly. There are so many good experiences to find beyond home. There are others from Chibale over there, so I had an idea of what was coming." She shook her head again. "I do not really know. I've heard my mothers talk about traveling more, but I don't have to follow them. I.. haven't thought beyond now very much though." She walked a little closer, now that she was a little more comfortable with this stranger. "So you have been in Jauhar your whole life?"

[ Esmeray 5 ] Her eyes brightened and she nodded eagerly, "Exactly, like a laugh," she replied with an easy smile, before she eyed the rings in her companion's hair with interest. The noise they made was soothing more than startling, which was interesting considering their make and placement. Before she reminded herself she needed to focus on her company. She hummed thoughtfully at the response to her question, nodding and considering and trying to not be distracted by the flashes in her hair when Seiong shook it a second time. " Oh, yeah. I live in a pretty small village...not a lot to see there. Everyone knows everyone, and most people tend to either continue their family jobs or leave and never turn back."

Seiong nodded along lightly, until mention was made of people leaving home to never turn back. Her brow rose with surprise. " Never? Are you saying that members of your village have left and.. choose to not return?" She frowned and put a hand to her chest with concern. Growing up in the still young Vandrea village, Seiong knew little beyond the village loyalty that she had been taught. To just leave completely was difficult to comprehend! "Is there something horrible within your village that would chase them away? Why do you remain?"

[ Esmeray 6 ] Her smile was a bit bitter at the question, and Esmeray nodded, " People don't like how small it is...they feel trapped. To be honest I don't mind, it's an easy life...except when someone leaves and I have to take on their chores..." The last part was grumbled with a pout, before glancing up at her companion, " Oh, I'm not sure why I stay...there's nothing really there...I guess it's just the easiest option. I'm not one to travel." Catching herself at the comment, she added meekly, " Not that there isn't anything against traveling. I love to hear the stories, but I'd rather live through the stories than worry about experiencing them...."

Because it was small? Was that really all? Seiong let her hands fall with relief, but the confusion remained on her expression. "I have met many who prefer traveling to being in one place. I enjoy it to a point. I can't imagine never returning home at some point though. Even though I would leave again anyway, I find it a comfort to know I can always go back home." After a moment, she managed to smile lightly. "Though, everyone is different. I suppose the world needs those who wish to explore just as much as those who wish to stay home." After all, she was an odd one in her world. Reassured by her thoughts, she felt her smile warm even further. "Well, I could share some stories with you. If you would like. I.. don't have too many myself, but my mothers both traveled great distances. They have shared many tales with me."

[ Esmeray 7 ] Her eyes brightened up at the offer, and Esmeray gave an eager smile, " I would quite enjoy that, I always do love the stories as they come in." She moved around as if to get more comfortable for a long sit, her nerves gone as she acted like a youngling ready for story time. " Tell me about your mothers...." She prompted, leaning a bit forward and grateful she was matched with someone so nice and patient, enjoying the opportunity this provided. Maybe she'd have to try this again, as long as it wasn't too far from home.

The earthling's delight quickly sent a smile to Seiong's lips. To go out and about without the expectation of using training to be judged... No. This was just two women enjoying each other's company for the sake of company! Sometimes, she wish the Aishans would be a bit more... well, just thinking that would be blasphemous! It was best to avoid entertaining such an idea. Instead, she chose to savor the moment and opportunity that she had right here. The ancestry of her blind date would likely have to remain secret, but she couldn't wait to tell her mothers about what a nice time she'd had. "So, there's this really dry place called Oba that they went to..."
