Date Night

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

Love is in the air and it is exhausting. It seems everyone is so excited to meet someone new and see if they 'click'. To the point where this new trend has spread across Tendaji - Blind Dates.

The concept is pretty simple - you have a friend (or a matchmaker) set up a date with someone you've never met before. Some find this exhilarating - a chance to go beyond the same old and meet someone new. But others see this as unnecessary anxiety forced upon them by their friends or society's pressure.

Either way, you find yourself set up on a date not of your choosing, with a stranger who you've never met before. This could either be the person of your dreams...or a big mistake. Guess the only thing you can do is see where this date takes you.

---

For those who are already in a relationship, it's hard to host a 'blind date', but you can get close. It's time to surprise your significant other with a night date, just the two of you. No family, no children, just a chance to spend time with the one you love.

[ It's date night! This prompt should include a date with a stranger, either set up by your friends or by a matchmaker. If you're RPing your character with another, we ask that it be someone new (within reason to where your character is currently located). If you're RPing alone, create a new NPC and see where the night takes you.

Who knows, maybe this will be your character's future partner...or maybe an awkward enemy. What's the harm in the name of love?

For those who have characters already in a relationship, we're instead looking for a "Surprise Date" where one of the partners surprises the other with ad ate experience. ]

Verose didn't know how she got dragged into this situation. She wasn't what you would call flirty, interested, or overall outgoing. But she was here, at this location, with the pressure to find someone to go on a date with.

Surely this wouldn't be too much of a disaster, right? Her few friends in Belrea encouraged her to take a shot, what could it hurt? Besides, she knew enough from her training to defend herself if things got a little too....dangerous.

Which most likely, they wouldn't. Or so the matchmaker guaranteed.

Isaia was still put off by this whole thing. It wasn't like he was some workaholic like his mom, who thought of nothing but work; when he was on shore leave from his work on the airship, he had absolutely no problem relaxing, chilling out, drinking with the other engineers and letting loose. But apparently a string of one-night stands at port towns across Tendaji wasn't an acceptable replacement for a proper date, so here he was, stripped out of his typical apron and heavy duty gloves, hair cleaned of grease, going to a place where he was supposed to find a young lady waiting for him to woo her.

Not that he knew the first thing about that stuff, but he was willing to try if only to say he'd done it. Forget how dubious it sounded, picking a lady up from infront of a nondescript building, he was starting to worry this matchmaker was pulling a prank on him and sending him to solicit a lady of the night.

... In broad daylight, so not likely, but he had his worries! As he approached the place, he turned his mind to the description - markings, green hair. He'd expected a geian, but the person he saw matching that description was definitely not one. "Hey. Verose?" He greeted, only barely resisting a ridiculous little wave.

Verose was tall, but not lanky. Her Alkidike heritage left her with muscle and mass that created a presence that stood out among the earthlings. Even now, years after she left the isle, she felt the desire to hunch down and try and blend in. Thankfully her skin was enough to help such things, but as she turned and looked out at where the voice came from, her Aishan heritage was apparent. Mossy hair, dark black eyes, rounded brows.

The bright green markings could be passable, but together it was clear the type of person she was. Yet, as she waved back, she couldn't help but raise her chin. Ever the proud woman she was, she didn't mind the looks she got at the end of the day. At least here she had a reason to be different, and that was part of the charm of living among her earthling half.

"Isaia, right?" She responded with a nod and a small smile that tilted her lips, "Nice to meet you."

Oh yeah, her heritage was pretty obvious, especially from up close. But Isaia, whose older sister was married to an Alkidike, had been desensitized to the novelty of it over the years. Even so, it never got old how big some of the Alkidike were, and as he got closer, even the big of height he got from his father compared very little to her.

His own hybrid lineage was clear as well, both from the long ears to the olive leaf skin and long ears, to his lightning hair, and especially to his mismatched eyes.

Having confirmation of his own name meant he'd found the person he was looking for, and her polite greeting helped ease a bit of his misgivings about the whole thing. He grinned and nodded, "Same to you." He said, honestly. She was pretty and looked confident, and that was enough to make him more excited for this date. "If you didn't have somewhere already in mind, there's a park nearby. Has some food carts if you're hungry." Should he offer his arm? It felt like the sort of thing his dad would do, so automatically he decided against it.

Her brow raised at the offered hand, but she took it nonetheless. This was a date, after all, so she might as well play nice. Even if she was a bit of a recluse, the ways of Earthlings fascinated her. In fact, just the idea of spending time going out to eat versus bonding over a hunt was novel enough that she found herself pleasantly delighted at the interaction.

"I didn't come with any plans." She replied directly, no embarrassment on her features at the statement. She in fact came so unprepared that had he not have any ideas, it might have been awkward.

Well she didn't laugh at him, or sneer at him for being ridiculous, so Isaia would take it as a good sign. He nodded his head, just once, flashing her a grin so she knew he was pleased with that answer. He had so many questions, but in the interest of manners he held his tongue, at least for the moment.

So, he led her that way, stealing glances up at her. She was obviously someone who lived with Aishans, judging by the intricate hairstyle of dreads and her clothing. What the heck had her accepting blind dates in an earthling settlement?! Not that he was complaining, but-

"You eat around here a lot? It'd be just my luck to take a date to a regular place." He joked, grinning.

Her smile was warm as he grew comfortable, which meant she was comfortable too. It had been difficult to make friends after she left the isle, so she was a bit uncertain about this choice, but at least this person before her was a little awkward as well. She wasn't alone in the strange experience, which made it easier to manage.

"Not really, I'm pretty new to the area and haven't really had a chance to try things out..."

WE CAN DO THIS

Spirits, but she was pretty when she smiled. Isaia nodded his head, just once, at her answer. He worked on the airship, and was no stranger to travelers to Belrea; and even the awkward Aishans who arrived weren't too unusual, though in his experience more of the older folk preferred the ship route instead, even if it was longer.

"Just off the boat, huh? Family here?" He asked, conversationally. They smelled the food cart before they saw it; a small, ramshackle thing with two earthlings energetically darting about behind it. There wasn't a huge line; most customers were already happily biting into their meals at an assortment of tables strewn about the park. "This is Geian food, so if you've never been here before it'll be new for ya."

[ Verose 4 ]

Shaking her head at the question, she looked a bit whimsical.

"My father is an Earthling from here, and he wasn't permitted on the isle. So I came to visit, but didn't get too much into sticking around until recently. I decided the earthling life was a better fit for me."

It was easy to speak about it when it wasn't an Aishan - Verose felt that many Earthlings were more open to such thoughts compared to her sister.

As they approached the food carts, her eyes widened with interest as she looked and smelled the air. She was hesitant to come to such a populated place, and already she felt the curious stares of other. So she decided to focus on her date.

"I can at least say I've had Geian food, though nothing off of a cart."

Ah. Isaia cast her a sympathetic look, nodding. "My sister's kids are Alkidike, but I never thought about how hard that must be." He felt a bit foolish, thinking about it. Ujana was such a bundle of cheer and good nature, but did she resent not being allowed on the isle? Or was it a relief, since she enjoyed traveling so much?

To her answer, he clicked his tongue and snapped his hand as if losing a bet, casting her a sidelong grin as they approached the stand. "It's good! Kinda like 'hundred year stews' and roasts and stuff like that. When I work, I only get a few minutes to scarf down some food, so on my off time I like having the chance to just... sit and enjoy it, y'know?"
