Date Night

Love is in the air and it is exhausting. It seems everyone is so excited to meet someone new and see if they 'click'. To the point where this new trend has spread across Tendaji - Blind Dates.
The concept is pretty simple - you have a friend (or a matchmaker) set up a date with someone you've never met before. Some find this exhilarating - a chance to go beyond the same old and meet someone new. But others see this as unnecessary anxiety forced upon them by their friends or society's pressure.
Either way, you find yourself set up on a date not of your choosing, with a stranger who you've never met before. This could either be the person of your dreams...or a big mistake. Guess the only thing you can do is see where this date takes you.

For those who are already in a relationship, it's hard to host a 'blind date', but you can get close. It's time to surprise your significant other with a night date, just the two of you. No family, no children, just a chance to spend time with the one you love.
[ It's date night! This prompt should include a date with a stranger, either set up by your friends or by a matchmaker. If you're RPing your character with another, we ask that it be someone new (within reason to where your character is currently located). If you're RPing alone, create a new NPC and see where the night takes you.
Who knows, maybe this will be your character's future partner...or maybe an awkward enemy. What's the harm in the name of love?
For those who have characters already in a relationship, we're instead looking for a "Surprise Date" where one of the partners surprises the other with ad ate experience. ]

[ Nayyara 1 ] Persuading her mother to join this dating event was a bit of a challenge. Mostly because her mother had this mindset where she'd probably die alone and was quite content with her only daughter. But Nayyara knew better - she wanted her mother to fall in love and find someone to spend the rest of her days with, and this was one way to do just that. After promising to participate as well, and bothering her mother until no end, both the Aishan women had been dragged into the majorly Earthling event on the edges of Jauhar. It was only one evening afterall, and Nayyara was excited to have some fun and meet some new people. She glanced at her mother's list and wished her good luck, before eying her own list of important information to recognize her date. - Goes by Ujiri - Is an Alkidike/Earthling hybrid - Has dark skin and bright Alkidike markings Well that was simple enough, considering most people around her was earthlings, and she easily caught sight of the man across the way with tan skin, dark hair, and Alkidike features. Smiling brightly, the tall woman approached, the crowd parting around her though she was used to the stares, and chirped out a bright "Hello!" once she was in range.

Ujiri 1 The bright greeting that pulled him out of his thoughts also had him blinking a few times before he looked at the owner of the voice. Ujiri was silent for a second longer, a bit stunned, before he offered a nod to Nayyara. "Hello.. erm, Nay-yera?" He mispronounced the name with a slight wince. It had been written down for him but he wasn't sure how to say it. It made him feel foolish and rude but he would never know unless he asked. If she confirmed it to be her then he would apologize for the way he butchered the name.

[ Nayyara 2 ] She smiled brightly in response, her excitement for the situation and opportunity to meet someone new pushing down any discomfort she may have had. Nodding so her teal dreads bounced slightly, she pushed them over her shoulder and out of the way. "Nay-yara - that's me." She glanced about, blinking a moment before looking back toward Ujiri, "Looks like we're a pair tonight. Hope you don't mind?"

Ujiri 2 "Sorry, wasn't sure how to read it off the paper." He apologized for the name being messed up. As she looked around he watched her, taking in the details he could. Sure, he'd heard about the new cousins to the Alk's but he'd never seen one before. With the question posed about them being a pair he nodded. "Fine with me." It also helped his date was pretty. "Have anything specific in mind for tonight?" Ujiri figured he'd ask before he just decided where they were going.

"It's alright, not many people get it right. I'm just happy you had my name in the first place." She said pleasantly, her excitement for the event showing.
As she hummed a bit at his next question, she finally shrugged, "Not that I don't have an opinion, but I'm only passing through so I don't quite know what to do? I'm traveling with my mother between each tree...so it's really the first time I've been in Tendaji..."

Ujiri 3 Hearing that this was her first time in Tendaji made him nod with a thoughtful look. "Alright.. how about a nice walk then some drinks and food after? I know a place that has good food." Never mind that it was his mother's tavern. "We can either walk in a quieter area or we can go down where there's music and entertainment. Up to you." The quieter part would go past a nice pond but he also knew people didn't trust strangers in isolated areas.

She braced her hands behind her back in a relaxed pose, smiling at the offer, "Lead the way."
It was easy when you had a guide, but Nayyara knew from what little experience she had making new friends outside of the Elidae (where she practically knew everyone), she had to speak up and share about herself too.
So when Ujiri offered a suggestion, she grinned and leaned a little closer, "I'm not shy like many of my cousins, so music and entertainment sounds like something fun and new to experience with a new friend."
She grinned, her lime eyes seemingly sparkling, "Like I said, I'm pretty new around here. But I love experiencing culture and learning about different things outside of Aishan tradition...you must be so used to these things."

Ujiri 4 He nodded at her then gave a vague motion for her to follow along. As she then spoke up as said that the entertainment would be nice he smiled a bit. That meant he didn't have to worry about her being spooked at least. "Well, I'm glad you're not shy." Ujiri was anything but shy so it made things easier. With a snort he glanced at Nayyara as they walked. "I am definitely not a traditional Aishan. I chose an earthling path, though my Alk mother is my favorite." But that was more due to personal reasons than a preference over earthlings. "Too bad you weren't here a few months ago. There was another alk hybrid here who was training to become a minstrel. She wasn't half bad with her instrument." Since Nayyara said she liked learning about different things he figured she might have liked the songs. After a while they ended up in the area where street performers were and the music could be heard without straining ones ears. It wasn't a big event but it was enough to be entertaining and distracting for a while at least.

[ Nayyara 5 ] Walking along with the hybrid was quite easy, though Nayyara was open with most new people she met. Yet having someone with partially shared history was really enjoyable, though she wasn't certain if Ujiri followed 'the ways'. At this comment about her shyness, she simply smiled and nodded as if she too were glad at such a feat. He suddenly answered her questions about him being an Aishan, her eyes widening a bit at such an interesting history. No sisters followed such paths, so to hear a halfling like him went down such a thing was so interesting and different. "A minstrel?" She gasped out loud, tilting her head at such a thought, "Such a thing is hard to imagine...though it makes sense if one decides to explore their Earthling side." She added, no judgement in her voice, "Sometimes I do wonder why we don't encourage such skills to be more than hobbies..."

He chuckled at her reaction but nodded his head all the same. " Yep. She was pretty good from what I heard but I'm not an expert on music." Ujiri would likely enjoy a toad song if he was bored enough. At the question of why other skills weren't encouraged he could only lift his shoulders a bit. "I'm not sure, I never thought to ask that question myself." It would make things a lot easier if Aishans allowed a broader spectrum as far as skills went. "Perhaps that is something to ask the mystics." If one could ever get the time. "Do you enjoy earthling hobbies?" Ujiri called them as such because it wasn't likely to be an Aishan one, or at least not mainstream, to like weaving, music, or cooking all that much. Most spent their time training, just like his sisters.

[ Nayyara 6 ] She smiled at the thought, a tall Aishan hybrid who was singing songs. Maybe they wrote tales of their great mothers, a beautiful story hard to relate to if one didn't have the original connection. To be bloomed instead of born was such inspiration afterall. Maybe she would try her hand at writing a song, if she found the time. She smiled demurely at the comment, already figuring it was about the culture and history. She learned early on in her travels that culture was different for Earthlings than Aishans. " I enjoy learning about them..." she replied slowly, " Though I haven't really done any. We don't have earthlings on the isle...so I never really was around them to learn."

Ujiri had a different experience. He'd grown up around earthlings and was part earthling himself. He knew more about such things than the average Aishan. Which made sense considering his mother and brother were earthling. So he nodded at her statement. "Try one sometime. You might enjoy it." Cooking was relaxing. Not only was it helpful for one to survive but it could also be therapeutic. Music was another one. "I don't do many myself but a few of them are worth it." Granted he'd chosen an earthling path to follow so it gave him more freedoms. "Some are even good as survival skills." He shrugged his shoulders a bit at that.

[ Nayyara FIN ] Her smile was smaller at the recommendation, and she nodded eagerly at the thought. It would be fun to try it, maybe on her travels toward Chiume. She continued to listen before knocking her shoulder against his in a friendly way. " I wasn't expecting to learn so much about the Earthling hobbies, but I admit you've got me interested." She added warmly. " As much as I love talking and walking, I do admit I'm a bit famished. Care to continue the conversation over those food and drinks?" she added with a tilt of her head, her eyes bright and welcoming. This was quite fun after all. She hoped the night continued in the warm direction and she'd walk away with a new friend.

Ujiri half stumbled at the friendly shoulder bump simply because he hadn't been expecting it but chuckled all the same. "They aren't half bad. I actually enjoy cooking from time to time. Not just for survival purposes either." Making something delicious for his family to enjoy was nice. He was no chef but he didn't think his meals turned out half bad. "That sounds like a good idea." He motioned for Nayyara to lead the way to which food she wanted. "Maybe you'll get an idea of a snack you'd like to learn to make."
