Spending time with Tivis was exhausting.
Hargitt's younger brother was apparently in the area longer than he'd thought and thus wanted to spend some extra time with them. For the most part he didn't mind; it was nice to have him around. That is, until Tivis got the bright idea to wade around a river looking for gems...
"Who told you this was a viable idea?" Hargitt rolled his leathers up his legs, frowning as his baby brother just walked straight into the stream, heedless of the way his pants were drowning.
"It's all anyone at the market was talking about! There's gold and gems and all kinds of things in the river, they just don't know where."

Rajani 1
She stared at the water with some fear. Stream or not water was water and she was still scared of it. She stayed on the shore and watched with a bit of nervousness. "Har.." She said quietly. Of course with the time they spent together and the tone she held he'd know she was worried for him. It wasn't her fault the shifter didn't know how to swim and water had been used as a punishment of sorts when she'd been younger.
Her eyes were watching to see just how deep that water got.

Hargitt hadn't gone very far into the river at all before looking back to Rajani. He was maybe up to his mid calf, content just wading in the shallows while Tivis slapped around the thicker areas. When he saw the anxiety so clear on her face his own softened and he took a few steps closer to her.
"Not much of a river, I think," He said softly, and looked back to Tivis. His younger brother stood in the 'deepest' spot of the area and the water barely reached his waist. It calmly crested around his hips, not even so much as moving the young windling as he padded about. "Soft and calm, just how we like it. Better to look around the shallows here and look for coin."

She brought a hand up and started to nervously chew on her thumb nail. Her eyes went from the water to Hargitt and back a few times. After a moment she finally gave a soft nod of her head. Eventually her eyes found Tivis. He was smaller than Hargitt and was farther out so she gauged how he was faring before she looked back down at the water near her feet. A deep breath and she took a hesitant step into the shallows, still only barely getting water to her ankles.
"Whoever thought this was a good idea needs smacked." She said under her breath but loud enough that her friend would hear her. Rajani wasn't overly fond of anything dealing with water. Heck, she still needed Hargitt's help washing her hair! "Stupid treasure hunters.." She grumbled some more.

While he didn't vocalize his support, Hargitt was there never the less. He stayed close should she need a hand without being so close that he was overbearing and kept it as casual as one could while wading over slip, muck covered stones. Despite the relative coolness of the stream itself it did feel much nicer than the ever present humid heat that, more often than not, exhausted him.
If he were more comfortable with touching his own hair he might have been tempted to tie it up, like Tivis had, but Hargitt wasn't about to mess with it.
"It's a quick way to get some coin. We'll spend a little time looking for valuables, sell them, and it'll be another job done." Turning from her to his younger brother who was actively pawing through the water, Hargitt couldn't help shaking his head. "Besides, you get to watch an idiot in his natural habitat."

She gave him a look that was basically a silent thank you for his closeness. Rajani kept looking down at her feet every so often but since she refused to go out farther she seemed to be alright. Didn't mean she could just step wherever though. It would be her luck to slip and fall.
When it was mentioned that she could watch an idiot she looked toward Hargitt's brother and snorted. It was amusing to watch him paw at the water. Of course she had to snark back at her friend though. "I guess it runs in the family." A smirk lit up her features then.

Hargitt rolled his eyes, but couldn't hide the half smirk that popped through. If that's what it took to get something out of her then so be it. "It's the family curse." An excited shout brought Hargitt's attention over to Tivis who was proudly holding a handful of gold up to them.
"Dinners on me tonight!"
Hargitt frowned. "No it's not, you should save it-"
"Hush it, old man, we're getting MEAT. Right, Rajani?" Tivis was practically vibrating with vigor. A meal that didn't consist of mushroom or something insect like? Well, maybe Hargitt could get behind that, especially if he looked so happy.

She snorted at the antics of the little brother and only offered Hargitt a grin. "I think you're outnumbered old man." Rajani couldn't pass up the opportunity to tease her friend. It kept their relationship interesting anyways.
As she looked down at her feet, to make sure her footing was good, she noticed something shining by the tip of her boot. So she bent down to pick it up. When she fished it out of the water she smiled and stood back up to show Hargitt. "Look." It was a simple gemstone but it was better than a rock.

"If I'm old you're a crypt keeper." He kept an eye on her as Rajani bent down, ready to pull her up at a moments notice, but when she came back with a gemstone his smile softened. "It would make a nice necklace or an earring? Maybe two if you didn't mind the stones being small." Satisfied that she was going to be alright, at least for the moment, Hargitt crouched down himself.
His find wasn't nearly as quick, but after a fair amount of searching he managed to dig up a good bit of gold. It wasn't enough to set them up for the month, though it would be enough to help pay for their meal so Tivis wouldn't spend all of his gold.
"There might be something to this. If most rivers are like this then it wouldn't hurt to check them as we pass through."

Rajani glared at her friend as he basically called her older then him. Had they been on dry land she might have tried to go over and push him over. "You are lucky we're in water."
She remained perfectly still when Hargitt went about looking for his own little treasure. Of course he found a bit of gold as well and she smiled at him. Of course the smile disappeared when he mentioned checking all rivers as they passed them. "I'll leave that to you." She might be willing to humor the baby brother right now but she wasn't exactly all that keen on spending time near rivers.

"I'll do it while I'm waiting on traps." Some areas the hunting just wasn't as good as others and he had to rely on what they could scrounge from a steady trap. That being said he could be waiting for hours while Rajani searched out jobs and this would give him a break from crafting arrows and minor repairs around camp.
Hargitt turned his attention to Tivis as he came tromping up to the pair. The other windling was completely drenched, but happy and flushed from the exertion. In his hands were a few gems and smaller bits of gold. "I didn't find much else, but I'm just happy with this. Are you two almost ready to go?"
"I think so." Hargitt turned to Rajani.

If he did this while he was waiting for something to get caught in the traps then it wouldn't cut into their time. Which was a good thing. Rajani didn't have any complaints about how her friend spent his spare time anyways. So far the two worked pretty good together. Work time was work time and they were pretty serious about it and free time was free time. Sometimes spent together other times spent doing things separately.
When brothers agreed that they were pretty much done she looked at Hargitt and nodded her head at him. "You know how I feel about water so.. the sooner I'm out of it the better." Meaning they could have changed their minds the second they set foot into it and she would have agreed.

Hargitt's mouth quirked at the corner. He dipped down toward the water to wash off his hands and by the time he'd risen back to his feet Tivis was already plucking himself out onto shore. The younger of the brothers was soaked; his leathers clung to him and his hair hung around his face like seaweed.
"Maybe once we're done in Jauhar we can look at jobs in the mountains. Most water they have there is snow."
